  1. I think it can get more complex than that - see Sutcliffe vs Pressdram.
  2. But what if they play the Tickled Trout and do me out of a possible date?
  3. Download Audacity (cross platform). Use File | Import | Audio to import the MP3. On the left-hand side you will see something like If that says 48000Hz then that's your problem and it's easily rectified. Go to Edit | Preferences and under Audio Settings you will see Project Sample Rate and Default Sample Rate. Change both of those to 44100Hz from the dropdowns and click OK. Now use File | Export | Export as MP3 and when the export dialogue comes up to select a file to save to, name the file something different to the original file and change the bit rate in Quality to 320kbps.
  4. There were only 73 90 made so they are quite rare. At least two of us on BC have one - mine is still awaiting my diagnosis on what causes its terrible hum.
  5. Well, the Ebay autoharp tuner was for 4mm pegs and it seems that the truss rod is 3/16" so £20 invested in @Hellzero's suggestion which will make its way by tramp steamer to our shores in two or three weeks. Just about to refresh the pickup mountings and put new strings on - Warwick Red Labels are nickel coated and come in the right gauges for me (20-40-60-80-100-130) and have the added advantage of being inexpensive.
  6. I was going to say that whoever made it wasn't trying. And you can get a Yin and Yang Fauxdera for £230.
  7. Three and a half hours before they went. That was quick.
  8. The PDF referred to has moved to https://maxsolomusic.com/files/79-patch-cables-compared-and-tested.pdf
  9. They don't do basses any more, unfortunately. There have been quite a few transplants though. The first series (300, 500, 700 electrics, later the 600, the acoustic 700, and the 700 and 505 basses) had the original electronics, then they were revised with HD sounds for the JTV guitars, which have presumably been carried over into the Yamaha/Line 6 Standard series. I don't know if the basses have the same electronics as the first series of guitars - all were piezo only so they only had modelled sounds, unlike the JTVs and Yamahas. I must have a dig inside my 300 and 705 bass and see what I can see. The software does detect which instrument it is.
  10. I should add that I went overboard and also fitted a Roland GK-3B pickup.
  11. My inclination would be either to have the QR code going to the same place as the web address, or put both the FB and website addresses on the poster with QR codes for both.

  13. Just one of the many reasons for going headless - then you only stick the end of the neck into the singer's ear if you really mean to.
  14. And very successful it was too. Mrs Zero thought that the sound from the Altos was cleaner than the RCFs were, they were certainly loud enough and lighter and smaller than the RCFs.
  15. Ditto, although presumably if one writes to it, it could be expected that one would also read it (although various facets of the internet have been referred to as a write-only medium).
  16. I have the main website address in human-readable form and on the QR code, and there's a link on every page of the website to the Facebook page. I can't see any point in having a separate domain that the QR code points to.
  17. Midge Ure learning Thin Lizzy's set when he got drafted in to replace Gary Moore, apparently in about a day? I know it's guitar, but after all, we all know that anyone who can play bass can play guitar.
  18. I've had a few Hohner headlesses, a Jack and three B2s (one 4-string and two 5s, still got one 5). I thought the four string ones have very nice necks, the 5s are a little bulky.
  19. I like that rear cavity cover. Well, I like it all, but that rear cavity cover is a step up from the black plastic ones on my Thumbs.
  20. Still on a bit of a post-gig wind-down so thought I'd do this now. Second gig for Dirty Roses - we've been rehearsing for a few months and have finally emerged. Between the first and second gigs, at the same pub, I've replaced the RCF 710A Mk2s with Alto TS408s. Smaller and lighter, and I've got to load and unload the buggers so that's the way I want them. The gig went well, from an audience and gaffer POV (plenty of singalong and dancers). There were definitely scrappy bits which need to be sorted. I don't think there will be a problem saying to the others that x and y need sorting, everyone is amenable to criticism. It's a question of whether x and y will actually get sorted. Mrs Zero was out front and the new speakers got the thumbs up from her. She's also written notes about what we need to sort out. I hope that her 64GB phone gave her adequate room for that. The gaffer was also impressed with the sound, so the all-Alto system (2x TS408 FOH, 2x TS308 monitors) is looking good, along with the Behringer X-Air XR12 that runs it.. Next gig is next weekend. Confidence is increasing. Oh, I should also mention (I may have also done so if I wrote up our first gig in this thread) that the rest of the band were brilliant in bringing stuff in and out from the car. The load in for me consisted of two journeys from car to "stage", the load out was just one journey. Replacing the not-terribly-big RCFs with the tiny Altos has helped there.
