  1. For anybody thinking of building a cab or upgrading the connectors to Speakon, I found this on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165973127947 Two connector plates, each taking two Speakons, plus four Speakon sockets. All for under a tenner.
  2. The Sugababes band was good. I thought the Sugababes themselves were completely uninspiring.
  3. Wait and see what it's like at volume before deciding if you need to do something about the preamp. Can you switch between active and passive?
  4. Just get shot of the separate effects and use a multifx, the effects will all be in the right state when you switch it on.
  5. I'd like to have a go at building a Pi-Stomp. V2 kits are all gone (and they don't appear to sell just the PCB) but V3 (including Pi5 support for @SamIAm) is coming in a couple of months: https://www.treefallsound.com/2023/11/28/v3-is-coming/
  6. Tecamp Puma 900.
  7. Most of the music played on the Hootenanny would have been a bit dated 60 years ago.
  8. Not a good singer but fitted well with the Faces, and the guest vocal he did for Python Lee Jackson.
  9. I'm in for the Tier 1 challenge. I know I'm going to fail Tier 2 as I'm after a MIDI controller keyboard. Might be worth a reference to the rules:
  10. December 13th this year. It's probably being recorded closer and closer to NYE as the risk of one of the coffin-dodging guests popping off between recording and broadcast steadily increases. Rod Stewart - hated him doing swing. Maybe he can't rock it up any more. Joss Stone - irritating voice. Olivia Dean and Raye - sang well. Not my cup of tea musically but I can cope for one night. The Mary Wallopers - bit of a Pogues tribute but fun. PP Arnold, Ruby Turner, and Paul Jones - still able to sing. Muireann Bradley - good. Sugababes - forgettable crap pop. I put the sound through the hi-fi which does bass pretty well, and there wasn't much there. Could just about make out the Mary Wallopers bassist as she played a couple of well-fitting bass lines, occasional bits of Dave Swift, and the Sugababes' bassist (although that might have been him in unison with a keyboard).
  11. The singer/guitarist for my former band stopped after suffering crippling anxiety, so that band wound up in 2021. However, he has recovered somewhat and started doing open mic nights. I'd encourage you not to sell everything, at least not straight away.
  12. The only slight drawback is that with the neck strap button in the standard position, it tilts forward somewhat. I've seen a mod which was to move the strap button to the equivalent of the end of the top horn and some day I'm going to do this.
  13. Oh. I assumed that it was a rehearsal that this happened at when you said that he told everyone when you played a bum note.
  14. I was going to suggest something not dissimilar to these two - see if anybody from the current band wants to start a parallel folk band and split her off into that. Alternatively, find some songs that fit both her voice and your band.
  15. I'm terrible at social niceties and quite honest, so I say if something's wrong (but I try to do it nicely). If you're playing a note wrong consistently, that does need pointing out. If it's a one-off, it doesn't. As for BVs, try the approach of asking him if he can hear himself properly as he doesn't seem to be pitching them right. Adopting a sympathetic approach will probably be more productive than either ignoring it or being confrontational. If all else fails, start recording rehearsals.
  16. You know EXACTLY how you assume voting will go. Honestly, as one who has been half of a couple on a band and as one who has played in at least three bands with couples in, I've never encountered a problem. The ones I encountered a problem with were brothers, who sacked me from a band because their mate (not as good a bassist) wanted to join. So don't ever play in a band with siblings, they're toxic.
  17. I checked my credit card account yesterday and it had indeed been credited (I thought they hadn't until I realised I'd looked in the wrong account).
  18. It says that there's a 20% surcharge on the base model if you have one of the non-asterisked options, plus the charge for the option itself. Does that mean an extra 20% for every non-asterisked option? Plus there's no mention of what the base model pickups and electronics are. At somewhere north of $10k for a headless 5er, I think I'll pass.
  19. I learnt it almost 50 years ago without the open As. Only found out about them a year or so ago and CBA to spend the time to relearn it when I try and avoid having the song in the set.
  20. Try Relax instead. If you have a wireless, it's perfect for going to the bar and getting a drink as long as you keep your money in the pocket on your fretting hand side.
  21. I gave it a shot with the harness on left-handed, longer arm uppermost, but it wasn't any help. It might just need the friction bolts tightening slightly.
  22. That would be on my list of concerns - it is literally everything on the entire website. Some of the bridges are Hipshot, others not so, and there seem to be several entries for the same bridge using different pictures. The "Contact us" page is interesting - their email is [email protected]. Alarm bells are going DINGDINGDINGDING.
  23. Those tuners are not ideal by any means. You have to get the string out of the way to adjust the intonation. I have them on an ultra-cheap Chinese fan-fret headless which I'm still summoning up the desire to set up properly. The ones in the last link are not all Hipshot. I just had a look at the comments for the 5-string one that's first on the page: "Very happy with purchase yummy things. On trend and comfortable" "These are pretty and comfortable. Fits perfect." "Extra nice. I would definitely buy these again for a gift for someone." "Love fabric. Received compliments. Great purchase. Fast delivery"
  24. I'd say responsible adult but I'm not sure that's all that accurate. I take a spare bass with me. For the last couple of gigs, it's been the light-up acrylic bass which I swap to towards the end of the second set and do a couple of songs with. I've frequently used a Hohner B2AV as it's so compact, it doesn't take up much room in the car. I've also taken a fretted and fretless and swapped between sets. I'm not obsessed with an exact tone as long as I can get sufficient bassy goodness out and maybe fiddle slightly if it sounds too trebly or too bassy.
  25. Now at £6750: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375142306391
