1. I should add that this is pretty much only here tonight/tomorrow (2.12.10) and I prefer unlined boards, and Delano jazz pups an audere preamp with passive tone an eub and an ibanez or fender kingman acoustic bass would also make the list. (Or a set of mordant short declaration 906 or 908 speakers in cherry)
2. Just got this. Its still cellophaned etc but it ain't working for me. So I may return it, but as it'll cost to send it back I thought before I do I'd offer it on here at £120 posted mainland UK ONLY or possibly swap for WHY Trades would mainly be four or five fretless basses preferably passive pref jazz style or squier vmj/cv type basses or a vt bass perhaps at a stretch. Trouble is there's not much I need! It's set up pretty well and ready to go
3. I'm gonna get into trouble for this, and I love both those guys, and I didn't watch it all the way through, but I thought it was really sloppy (duck n cover!)
4. I need to get up to speed with this pc stuff. I just plug an iPod into my zoom 9.1 and play along. How do I do all this computerness?
5. Yep I'd go with pluck back over the bridge pickup. Neck pickup backed off a third or so, fresh rotosounds bass n treble boosted a smidge, maybe mid cut a tiny smidge and it should come.
6. I always say its easier to learn, but harder to play well
7.
. . Stingray I once owned. It now lives in a recording studio in Nice.
Now if you still had that I'd be thinking hard!!
8. Just for kicks Here's a link with some more pics of it's 'mojo' as best I can What type of sealant should I be buying? http://www.flickr.com/photos/34605698@N04/...57623937813540/ (the pics didnt really capture much but hey ho!)
9.
All the more reason to get a refin.
All natural wear n tear, earned over almost 20 years. Sealing sounds like a plan
10. Hmm some interesting ideas, I might try smoothing the edges with sandpaper maybe, thing is it's still spreading and even looking at it funny makes it drop off more lol. I like the worn thing but I also rather like the sonic blue! Il stick some more pics of the rest of the carnage on the finish up later if I can capture it with my phonecam
11. http://www.flickr.com/photos/34605698@N04/...57623937813540/ This 'oh so cool' (genuine) forearm wear really hurts my arm when I play, and i just can't play in sleeves Grrr! Man up I guess. Unlike the old nitro finishes that rub through the finish on my bass is cracking and coming off more like boiled eggshell, which is ironic what with the colour n all.
12. This is a bit of an unknown gem. It's a gale 3080 sub 100w output in a 'maple' or beech type finish. These subs were a rebadged mordant short msw20 without the reliability problems. I picked it up while working as a richer sounds manager and had my pick of stuff, and despite the less than boutique brand name this was easily the nicest after the paradigm pdr series which sadly stopped coming into the uk (I had one of them too It's never had any issues and works great. The smaller ports mean it's tight and punchy but with plenty of depth and wallop. No spikes I'm afraid lost in a house move. But it sounds the mutts and is only going cause of wife related living room issues ;-) £50 collected only from Cheltenham, no way I can post at all, and I can't drive (yet).Sold pending
13. My midget compact stack. We've parted company now although I do have another midget T incoming A Closer look Midget with a Promethean p110c My carrying into town rig My bass tech
14. Ha ha ha that's the one I sold you ! Funny old world ;-) trust me, unless something awful happens that jazz ain't going up for sale;) - That said this time last year something awful did happen and it did go up for sale so who knows!!
15.
Hi All, I think Paul and I share a similar white bass fetish! Here is a pic of a one-off bass I had made up for my own personal use. It's nickname is "Honky" and the maple board with white pearl block inlays and white binding were inspired by '70s Jazz necks. Enjoy!
I need one like that! I mean i actually NEED one!!
16.
That is my dream, dream, dream, wet dream, stuff of dreams, ideal perfect bass of all time eternally and forever more until the end of time and beyond. You jammy bastard! Wanna sell it?
Didn't I already sell you an identical one? Or was that the status?
17. I'll miss mine forever! It was my dream amp and I was ways really proud to own it. My lighter gear is much more practical for me now, but I'm glad I had it. :-D enjoy it mate
18. I'm so getting the orange ones for my sonic blue jazz....mmmm gulf gt40
19. Over the years I've really come to hate down tuning, even a semitone. I find cause i set my basses up so precisely at normal tuning it really affects the way they play. That and it just eats amp power. Grrr !
20. That's a shame, I thought he'd cracked it in the end.
21. Can't recall tbh. About £60-70 I think honestly can't remember!
22.
i like the sound of those,i really didnt want to say "i want my jazz to sound like a ray" because i assumed i woud get told to just buy a ray! So these "GAFfers" are custom made for you (gafbass02) or would they just make them to order?
indeed, sound like a ray it wont but sound as much like a ray as a jazz can it probably will lol, and a p bass and a jazz. Which is nice! They are custom orders, all you do is ring and ask for a set of gaffers, i know he was planning to incorporate them into the standard product line but its not happened yet. Possibly due to issues of fitting them in a single coil sized casing. I have the prototype and had to modify the holes myself, but its WELL worth it! Although the 'production' model this seems to be fixed. Give em a whirl!
