  1. We (The Bridge) played at our singer’s local pub in Gloucester, hence the place was rammed. I was getting over a second bout of covid (nothing like my 2020 close call! - More like a nasty cold with a hangover this time thank goodness!) I sat for some songs and stood for others (tested negative before) and only arrived just before we started and left straight after. Played fine, with IEMs it’s no stress or struggle anyway. We had our stand in FOH guy, so no pics or vids this week.
  2. Three generations of string boilers all in a row
  3. I used to often boil strings as a perma-skint teen back in the 90s. They tended to sound bright again for maybe a few hours, and I was always told it made them brittle, but I never had one snap. These days strings can be had so cheaply it doesn’t seem worth it anymore. Oh the memories
  4. Yeah, I may replace it as it’s so handy. It’s Only the preamp foot switch that’s failed, it’s gone a bit unreliable, but I was using it with a full bass cut for the intro of a royal blood song, so now the Dr J does that job and I’ve zoom ms60b in it’s place in the IEM loop.
  5. I use an amazing old app called Robick. Lets me cut bass very effectively or guitar for those songs. Also change the pitch and tempo independently of each other, it can also loop sections at slowed tempos etc. But once again you have to own the song to import it. It’s fantastic though.
  6. And me, irrational fear of using them.
  7. Brilliant gig in Hereford last night, always a great venue with a great crowd. Paid well, played well and even had a couple of pints 16313BAB-3F94-4E88-B4D4-DDF3B7C11EA7.MOV
  8. I sing and play guitar a lot. But singing and playing bass….’tis witchcraft I tells thee. I can manage the odd BV depending on the song and that’s basically it.
  9. An older pic, and the only one of me in a hat I believe. But alas, not actually on stage.
  10. Precisely why I use one for living on a prayer
  11. I'll always regret parting with my s2 classic deluxe back in the day, anything more than an energy is hopelessly beyond me now. I do still hope to pick up a Washburn status one day though.
  12. I really loved my enhanced, but just couldn’t manage the weight. (We play 2.5 hours straight)
  13. Mine was just ‘ok’. Standard private party stuff. A few dancers, paid ok, played ok and home. Job done.
  14. This one? I actually had a second 8x10 stack with a Laney PB400 too, only used them both at the same time once, in a warm up gig for the Styx tour with Double Cross. It was a lot of fun and luckily the police didn’t arrive till after we’d finished 😂
  15. Think mines getting a headstock sanding now! Nice one.
  16. That’s how I used to do it, run the pre shape and compensate. …Except sometimes, when I just used the sheer power of an AH400smx into two 4x10s and a bright box to compensate for the mid cut 😂😂
  17. Nice gig last night in Worcester, nothing fancy, but we played well and the audience seemed to enjoy it. Job done.
  18. I think I’m going to have to pull this. I just took the pics and make the mistake of cleaning it up and playing it. And oh my word it’s good! I’ll pull it and ponder for longer.
  19. Just got a message that guitar guitar messed up and my vox isnt coming today, so I’ve gone ahead and cancelled the order. Ah well
  20. Will do, apologies, it’s my last week of pgce placement 2, so been super busy. Come Saturday I’ll have time
  21. I bought one last night, I had one before briefly and returned it, it was a bit of a disaster to be fair. But for £200, I don’t mind some fettling and modding. I’d rather like an artist with the maple neck tbh, but cant stretch to one. Fingers crossed this one is better than the last one. It’s due to arrive on Sat.
  22. Another Headrush user here. I bought two to use as pa/acoustic rig/bass rig/guitar amp, and they’re great. I rarely use them these days as I prefer IEMs, but I certainly don’t need to lug two about as I did on the day pictured, one is plenty for monitoring on stage. If I were to use them as room filling backline I’d take both just in case. They sound great and I like sounding onstage more like the out front sound, as opposed to sounding like a bass rig that only I hear. It helps me judge things like pickup and eq changes more accurately.
  23. Well, it was Cheltenham race week for me. Normally I do 6pm till midnight for five nights on acoustic and vocals, on an upstairs/downstairs rotation with two other guys in the first pub next to the race course. But since the whole nearly dying of covid thing, I can’t do that anymore, so I was on bass this year and only did three shows a bit further into town. The first two were standard race week stuff, just fighting off utterly hammered, red-faced, tweed clad muppets demanding oasis for every. Single. Song. But last night was a birthday party in a local pub and was just lush from start to finish, one of my fave gigs of the year. Plenty of space for me, no muppets crashing into me (ok, one did take a tumble over the foot lights, but only one), I had a great sound in ears and had great fun locking in with the drummer.
