1. I sooo wish i could recall, but sadly i have no idea, it was a large square pub with virtually no furniture at all!, like a saloon in a western!
2. if im off tomorrow afternoon ill go have a noodle and let you all know how it is.
3. Once my band turned up as a very last minute booking to replace a cancelled band at a pub in Leamington who had somehow heard of us and begged us to drive there from Leicester with about two hrs notice, this was about 14 years ago. When we got there the landlord was steaming drunk and VERY rude and abusive, before we'd even got out the car, he was just standing in the parking spot in the road outside the pub wobbling and apparently looking for a fight with anyone. When he realised we were the band he just grunted a lot and wandered off inside. As we set up he wandered in and out of us in the 'stage' area making snide and unpleasent comments about wether we knew how to work a plug, amps etc, etc Eventually we did a few bars not even a sound check per se, just a sorta 'is it all on?' before getting into detail, whereupon he came up and said : " I told you to turn down and you didnt, so heres £50, now pack up and f*uck off!" ?? He hadnt said a word!, sure enough we packed up and as we loaded the car we noticed a big van hiding round the corner , with lo and behold, another band waiting to load in!!!!! We went back to our local and spent the £50 on beer and nuts and tried to figure what the hell had happened! (The long version includes an arrogant teenage me being pulled out the pub after loading the car by my much bigger, older and wiser drummer as i had gone back in to start on the drunken landord and his mates as i thought i was: A), invincible being a teenager, and the greatest bass player in the world and how dare he treat us like that, heh heh
4. Another view askew fan here too..
5. nice one dude, all i could think was what a cool mod machine it would be its here: http://www.spearguitar.com/artist/info_1.asp
6. It was a p copy, £200 in a green to yellow burst in matte with a tortie guard, with a jazz bass pup at the neck, a p in the middle and an MM bucker in the bridge which seemed to have brass saddles. A 'hook' style fender headstock like the old antorias and the logo 'SPEAR' embossed in silver like some of the US fenders, crazy but kinda cool, bet it would mod well. It had a maple neck with about four knobs and a mini switch, didnt play it but i reckon i may have to go back just to sate my curiosity!
7. I have owned several jazzes, and still do , and without a doubt my VM jazz is one of the best, a great all round bass that truly does blow away many Mexican jazzes ive played, although i believe the standard is on the up, what about a Jap standard from the guitar emporium, the Jap ones are really great basses. Heres my squier to whet the appetite. it does have some buzz, but a shim helped:
8. i really like that jazz, just the type im hoping to swap for my Geddy, if it ever arrives!
9. Strange, ive owned four warwicks and they all had thin necks, the fattest was my FNA jazzman, but not much fatter than a jazz.
10. The ray is indeed a piezo sparkle with matching headstock, the extra know controls the piezo/magnetic blend. The white and black lines are binding on the side of the neck and is standard on both jazzes. The blue jazz has a status graphite neck fitted, to which i added some budget fretfx leds. The peacock blue DR strings sadly were almost dead out the box so i never had em on for long! Glad you like em!, not as hot as some of the stuff on here, but i like em!
11. my first amp was a H+H vs100 ex of the meteors, and i used to have a yamaha combo that was apparently ex slade
12. yeah i just had it too
13. i might do that i reckon, im another +1 on the wood fingerboard/graphite neck thang
14. Cool. Bob did backing vocals on my old bands album (Doublecross: time after time)
15.
Another member of the 'i love the white jazz' club here!! Have you sought any help with the white-pearl pickguard addiction??!!
heh heh its actually the same guard, the squier now has a plain white that was on the 75 when i got it. I see the paerl as my 'Phil Lynot type trademark accesory thang!' glad you guys like the basses.
16. i have very long hair heh heh (and a nice furry markbass stack)
17. decided not to hack up a brand new 2008 mij jazz bass heh heh, on the advice of just about everyone!
18. My girlfriend (now wife) bought me a subscripion for my birthday once which was just the best present ever as we were very poor, real hand to mouth stuff, and when my 1st subscription issue came it was the last ever one, never been so gutted in my life! Then of course it moved back to guitarist with lots of promises and even angry letters fom guitarits saying 'we dont want them in our mag!' and withing about three months lo and behold the bass content was down to pretty much zilch! Happy memories though, and like i say i still read em to this day.
19. for gigs i use a couple of markbass bass keepers, ace bits of kit
20. I was gonna wait till my geddy had come and i had fitted the villex, and a proper (unbutchered) scratchplate to the white one and do a full family porn post (ooer!) but heck, heres what im wearing this season.. '08 MIJ 75ri: my squier VMJ: bassmaster funk the LX: still got my piezo ray: and of course, although now sans retro, my '90 62ri MIJ :
