1. It's a real once in a lifetime special sorta thing. Sounds the same from anywhere in the room
2. Literally the lightest touch with the lightest gauge sandpaper and it fell straight off. It's hardly on there at all. On reflection I could probably have done it with a finger!
3. I'm Selling this 'sterling by musician' SUB bass fitted with a Seymour Duncan stingray pickup and three band Duncan stingray preamp. It's extremely well set up with new strings and Schaller strap locks. 9/10 condition Headstock logo removed, the stripes are vinyl and peel off. collection only. From Cheltenham. £270 no offers. I bought it at the same time as a stingray and sold the ray to keep this as it was just fabulous! More stingrayish than most stingrays I've owned!!!! Only selling to fund an iPad replacement as mine is on the way out.
4. Thanks, I will split and sensible offers entertained.
5. I've rehearsed exclusively with a JamHub for around six years now. The amount of time and money and effort it's saved is incredible. I'm not sure I'd go back to live rehearsals ever again. Such a shame the company has folded
6. Blimey! AE cabs are usually hot property?!
7. The amp is in great condition and I can post to uk. The head is a full fat, Italian made, not blackline, momark, and flattens the lm2 and shuttle heads I owned previously owned Sounds more like a lead sled (heft;) £350 for the head. EDIT. No idea why the pics are sideways. I'll sort that when I can get to a pc?!! Lots of extra pics here although, beware, the amp in these pictures, although identical in appearance is the 800w model which I no longer own. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/165022-new-amp-momark-plus-amp-historyreviewpics-lots-of-pics/
8. I think I joined bassworld in about 2003/4, I was a prolific poster for a time. Bass talk was kind of an interim measure until basschat came online. I remember waiting by the pc for it to come on, hence my low membership number. I looked at finnbass a bit too but it wasn't for me. I don't post so much these days as I find it's all been said, but I'm still here everyday, checking in.
9.
I was going to start a topic of this the other day. I went to see placebo on Monday night, and they had support from a group called minor victories. The bass player was on the side of the stage in front of me, and obviously as it was the support there weren't too many people in front. So the drumming starts and the bass drum goes right through you as do the other drums. The bass player is standing there with a rather nice Jaguar bass, so i thought 'Nice bass, I wonder what that sounds like'. Then he started playing, and turns out, I was none the wiser. Pretty well couldn't hear him.
I was going to post this exact same thing!!! I was at the Birmingham gig. The kick drum nearly snapped me in half!! Minor victories reminded me a lot of Catherine wheel.
10.
Guitars are easier to put out of tune. Solos that involve a lot of string bending will do it, serious use of the whammy bar will do it faster. When I saw the Eagles after their reformation all of them changed guitars after every single song, I saw Placebo a couple of years ago and they were the same. Having said that I saw Robert Glasper recently and his bass player had two backups on stage but only used the one bass for a 2 hour+ set, retuning very quickly every half hour or so, so I'd guess the spares were only there in case of string breakages or electronics failure.
Until recently I played guitar in a placebo tribute band. There was a lot of swapping. mainly for songs that needed a jag for playing behind the bridge as opposed to the iconic SG. I did take about six basses once, just cause I could. Never again. One spare tunes and close by but that's it.
11. It's not a 60's reissue. I've owned a few. The truss rod should be in the body end of the neck and the pickguard should be a mint colour, it does have the right holes though hmmm
12. I wrote this ages ago, but I'm still with the same rig http://basschat.co.uk/topic/165022-new-amp-momark-plus-amp-historyreviewpics-lots-of-pics/
