1. Love playing that track. Also cause I've got the right sound for that big synth part
2. Really regret selling mine. Ive still got the bag somewhere
3. Reminds me of a couple of the rants I saw on tour with a US rock band back in the mid '00's. I was chatting to the guitar tech one evening as he was packing up during the encore, when he suddenly disappeared into a cloud of blood, the headline acts guitarist had thrown his guitar at him from the stage, body first ( a full on swing from the headstock end) and hit him straight in the head. The reason was it had gone out of tune. Another time I watched the singer go crazy because the bass amp was in the wrong place and was apparently 'crushing his head'
4. I'd love to, but I've nothing to ship it in or time to sort unfortunately
5. That was pretty much my plan, just to go back, but I'm sadly hardly playing bass these days which sucks. Yeah, it's only as heavy as the berg cabs, which you can scoop up in one hand all day long.
6. I've not had this long, but I bought on a whim, but now I need to move it on to fund more boring music gear! :-/ The pictures tell the story really. It's a MKv AH250 in great condition for its age, really really clean. I think it was in a studio previously. It works perfectly and sounds utterly massive. Waaaaay louder than my 800w markbass head. Like way, way louder?!!!! The much acclaimed 'heft' is there in bucketfuls and seems to be part of the fact that these amps just seem to go lower and higher and louder. There's more 'frequencies and more presence' to my ears than the modern stuff. Plus, while heavy, it's not stupid, unuseablly heavy like the bigger Trace kit. I love it. I love the looks, the sound, the smell, the breeze that comes out, the sense of occasion when it turns on and off. They're great! I just need boring stuff instead right now! :-/ Collection only from Cheltenham, £200 trades unlikely but you can try. Nice electro acoustic guitars, vocal fx, mixing desks, acoustic guitar combo, most likely to pique interest tbh. 7. Just bought a guitar cab and had it delivered in person! Great communication a great cab and a great guy
8. Just bought a cable and it was a top drawer experience all round
9.
I was the same for a few years. The one thing I couldn't understand was how a band of relatively inept musicians could get a place leaping about. 1. Have a frontman who welcomes the audience. Forget if he can sing or not. He needs to be larger than life and ooze confidence. 2. Play songs with confidence. Spend longer getting tight and ignore whether the guitarist should be playing with a Fender or a Gibson etc. That is only important to the guitarist and his obsessive mate at the bar at the back of the room. 3. Be polite to everyone and behave like a professional. That's it really. If one of those things are missing you're going to find it hard to get gigs. Everything else is window dressing.
Most 'nailed it' post ever!!
10.
Am I remembering correctly that there was a BT in between BW and BC?
There was an interim forum. I was literally sat at my computer waiting for the changeover to BC having been a long term BW member and much more active on that forum. Hence my low number on here.
11. Reading this I just realised I have a buzz stop kicking around somewhere. I'll give it a try
12. I bought one on a whim at the offer price. Nothing much to add as Brx summed it up. They're great and need a bit of tweaking to excel. This one is much better than my last one. It came we'll set up with intonation and action just fine. It's a great sound, looks cool and is a lot of fun. Not sure if I'll keep it, but the faff/cost of returning would mean if be more likely to flip it on here or trade for something. Not decided yet, mainly cause every time I get rid of one I want one again!
13. Exactly the same story here. I put my work address and have no rush at all, I owned one before briefly so I know what to expect. Thanks to the op for the heads up.
14. I'm another that's had schallers for a million years, not perfect, and yep, I've had a failure on an old one, but 99% of the time I don't think about them. It's the First thing I do to any new guitar or bass.
15.
There is an attitude on the originals circuit that if you have a proper job and nice gear you're somehow not a proper musician... proper musicians play squiers and live on their mate's sofa.
Oh dear god yes, I know so many like that round here!
16. I've been playing around 25-26 years and owned over 160 basses, as I've matured both as a person and a player I've found im much more content with owning 'lower quality' basses. I used to have to have four figure, brands only, various Warwicks, statii, EBMMs etc etc These days I'm much more comfortable to step out with whatever instrument has spoken to me on merit and let my playing do the talking, even though my playing has got more functional and less flashy along the way too! In fact. I recently moved on a pretty good stingray simply because I'd bought a SUB Ray that was just an all round better instrument! Go with what speaks to you. There's always some muppet who'll feel the need to show off or judge you for it, (usually without knowing all the details) Like the guy who recently made a comment to me along the lines of my ray not being the real thing and me 'getting there one day' I didn't bother to mention I've owned about six already.
17. I just pulled the trigger so fingers crossed!!
18. Just spotted this. I'm depping in Leicester tomorrow night!! So I'll be in town with a car full of bass kit, I'll try my damndest to come. I'd like to bring my rig in purely so as not to leave it in the car! Markbass MoMark, bergantino ae210's my heavily modified 1990 MiJ jazz and probably a modified sub too.
19. These look great, very interested to hear how you get on with it.
20.
Interesting thread - I've been thinking going from 4 basses currently down to two - just cos I don't need that many! The one I wouldn't ever sell - my 1991 streamer stage one. Was a bit of a dog and tried to sell it quite a bit back in the past. But Bartolini pickups, an ACG preamp and a Alpher bass fret job transformed it! that looks ace - and I remember you saying that ACG you've got was on your "keeper" pile too! Triggers broom/bass!
It really is, the only original parts now are the body and three of the tuning heads!
21.
Err for songs that need a pick sound, same as I use fingers for fingered sound, slap for slap etc etc etc.
This. Don't want to be a one stringed bow kinda bass player, whatever combination suits the song.
22. My 1990 MiJ '62 reissue jazz bass, had it since about '94 and despite owning around 160 other basses in that time, it's always been my go to. Over the years it's had a graphite neck, east preamp, stickers, pearl pickguard, etc etc But it's current version is my favourite; maple block neck with stripes and wizard GAFfer pickups; it's earned its scars well
23.
Yes but they are always told that they are wrong, ignored or declared liers looking at other threads, lol.
Add me to that list. I've owned three, used them a lot in different ways, and didn't like them, and every time I mentioned it, someone would get snippy in some way, (except Alex, who has always been very courteous) There's some information on my findings here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/165022-new-amp-momark-plus-amp-historyreviewpics-lots-of-pics/ But as ever, it's each to their own, and I'd certainly be game to try them again in future, just perhaps with more realistic expectations. I find them a 'tool for the job' which is the job of being very light and loud enough to stage monitor, rather than something tonally pleasing (to me) at any volume. I find them Convenient but that's about it. Again. Everyone's tone goals and opinions are different, and that's ok. I just don't like it when people insinuate my opinions are somehow based in ignorance or inexperience. Both of which are laughably wide of the mark.
