    Following this with interest. After around 25 years near constant gigging and thinking and caring about very little else; I feel like I've finally reached the end. I always expected a 'grand finale' but actually I've more just 'petered out'. I currently host two open mic nights every week, plus gigs and rehearsals/other spot work. It sucks, because the money is very handy! And as jobs go, sure can't complain!! But, my enthusiasm has just gone. Seven years ago I moved to a town where the music scene is disasterously cliquey to the point of total self defeat. Same people playing the same songs to the same people in the same pub, week in, week out, frequently badly too! So many local musos just seem to be jobless bums who think owning a guitar and smoking pot all day makes them a 'pro' instead of 'unemployed' and that the world owes them a living, there's virtually no cross population between venues or cliques and anyone new is treated with suspicion and disdain. Not to mention the fact that there are so many loonies and excessively 'eccentric' oddballs that some evenings feel more like a YouTube freak show, and sometimes intimidating when some of the 'less together' ones get ansty. (Like the guy who (really) thought he was Noddy Holder last week, apparently he is a delusional psychotic, he couldn't understand why bands didn't want him to play with them. I've started to find my Facebook feed full of musos I don't really know and an endless stream of futile 'come to my gig' posters, usually five or six metal bands on in a night, all of whom are convinced that anything else is 'selling out man' etc etc Musician adverts are full of 'death doom core' start ups and the regular older boys still banging out 'sunshine of your love' and 'wild thing'. It feels like I'm surrounded by poor quality musos or great musos that are lazy and drink/drug dependant, leaving me high and dry in the middle to do mediocre work where I can grab it. The guys I left behind when I moved were all driven and brilliant, that was a much bigger place too. I've had a brilliant run, sold a ton of albums, played HUGE, legendary venues, toured, had fun, lived the life and loved it, owned hundreds of guitars and basses, been successful and been a frontman and guitarist and bassist over the years (mainly bass) in so many genres. But it feels like the drive and draw has faded away to disdain and disinterest, I'm fed up of doing all the work and being surrounded by oddballs and lazy small minded folk all the time. I'm 40 this year, and wondering if it's time for a big change! Rant over, I just needed to 'say it out loud' I guess as I've no friends close enough here to talk it through with who don't rely on me for music in some way. I think I'm gonna sell up, keep one bass, one acoustic, one electric and amps for each/pa and train up as something. I'm a HLTA, so probably a teacher like my wife, get old, buy a big TV, save for a car with than 80bhp and remember the fun times.

    Great looking and sounding bass, plays fine, works fine, action not quite low enough for my tastes (I only do crazy low!) nice figuring on the neck, needs a proper set up, I shouldn't have bought it really as I don't play extended range anymore and don't like black guitars!!     I need to clear some guitars out, this is a basically new, unused guitar that's just sat around. New strings, mint.     I really do need to own less guitars/basses, it's getting silly! The lightly sanded neck is smooth as silk and it plays fantastically well; and sounds, like a two band stingray ! It's also the most forgiving to play and the neck doesn't feel so massive as some. There is a chunk of finish that popped off and had to be reattached by the neck join. (I've had that on Ray's a few times?!!) Set up well with fresh strings, polished frets and nourished neck.     I'm another that's had several Warwicks with issues, out of phase pickups, blown preamps and ruined truss rods on four figure basses

    I tried a few of the walnut ones in shops and was very disappointed. Then I bought unseen a brand new 'mint green' one, and it's utterly fantastic. One if the finest instruments I've played at any price point. (I've owned over a hundred basses alone, many 'boutique' including several stingrays) The hardware has the cheap 'n shiny thing going on, but works fine, the neck is FAR more stable than the EBMM necks I've owned. comparing the sound to a ray is interesting. Alone it sounds like a stingray. But when directly compared with my current 2band stingray the Sub has far less treble and a much more present mid range. Making it in many ways a more practical sound! Just lacking in some top end bite from the onboard eq.

    That's kinda cool. The JPS logo would look good too, I came pretty close to making it a full on trans am themed bass, but decided to go for more understated.

    I did, from Rothko and frost, the plating company I forget but they were awful! Expensive and took ages :-/

    So this is what happened. I swapped a jazz for a stingray. I wanted one like my old natural '92 'The one that got away' But I was impatient, and settled for a slightly tatty, kinda boring mid 00's one in black. I hate black guitars. Except with gold hardware. You see, growing up, the JPS lotus F1 car was the coolest thing ever. Except for the Bandit's Trans Am! I've never sprayed anything before ever. At all. Ever. So this was a learning process! One my wife made me finish early due to the stinky house!     I recently traded a jazz for a stingray, but it was a bit dull, so I blinged it up a bit with a colour matched headstock and gold hardware. Since the pics I've used wonder wipes on the neck to darken/yellow it a bit. it's fab now. My first go at spraying. It came out ok, I'd rather have more clear coats to bury the decal more, but I got fed up of the smell in the house!
