  1. "My computer thinks I'm gay" Too many friends, Placebo.
  2. Thanks all, it's a complicated minefield for sure! I'll see what shows up, simple and compact and cheap is king over flexibility or sound quality here. It's only a few signature parts played very simply in an amateur tribute band that may or may not work out
  3. I've literally no idea about any of this! I just need to press a few keys and have a couple of one finger piano or strings sounds come out! I've messaged that seller, thanks for the heads up on that, I wouldn't have even known what it was!! Sooooo far outside my comfort zone on this!
  4. That looks like a smart thing. I'll try to find one. Thanks :-) good call.
  5. Looks like it's a cheapo full size second hand keyboard then. Fair play.
  6. Yeah, it's got to have piano and strings, but that's really all I need. If my iPad wasn't so laggy I'd stick it on a stand and let him use that, but it's an older model and the delay on GarageBand keys is huge!
  7. Cheers folks. That last one looks perfect. Tiny size, just enough keys and sounds built in. Perfect now just to find one cheap enough. Is there a known budget equivalent? Behringer type of thing? I know literally NOTHING of keys
  8. I've need for a few spot keys moments in some songs, strings, piano, synthy theremin type sounds. Lack of keys players means it'll be a job for guitarist number two (I'm number one) What I'm after is something really small, REALLY cheap and simple. Those little midi keyboard things look the right size and price, but I'm assuming have no sounds of their own. Is there a simple solution (no hooking up laptops etc) or is it a trip to Argos for a cheapo kiddy thing. It's got to be south of a hundred. Ideally no more than £70 odd. Any ideas? I've tried triggering samples off my jamman, but the timing/volume issues are insurmountable.
  9. Tbh I prefer the sub to the sterling in the same colour I had once before! The neck on it was very badly made, it holds up pretty well against a US too.
  10. I remember something similar being in Leicester in the early 90's. It had been 'home made' if I recall correctly. There was a Warwick thumb copy as well.
  11. Despite being well aware of the physics and the myths, and having been gigging for 25 years through a ton of different rigs. I find 12' sound like 12's, 15's like 15's and 10's best
  12. I just picked up a mint green one and it's utterly floored me. I've owned around a hundred basses including several stingrays and as an instrument it's just incredible. I've played a few walnut ones in shops that didn't impress, but the one I got is impeccable. The action goes crazy low and it feels and sounds great. The sound is middier than my ray, but very useable. 13. I vaguely recall from my hi-Fi retail days that the tape in was said to have the most direct route on most amps, but Its a loooong time ago now!
  14. I used to want one of these so much back in the early 90's, real class.

  16. The bass I thought I'd never sell! But the pain of selling my dream bass on here a few years back hadn't left me so I want to find and find another. :-/ I bought this bass new in 2008 from Ishibashi. It's had very little use really as it's mainly a backup to my number one bass. It's pretty uncommon to find a 75ri in this colour, (vintage white). In this case the finish is in great condition with one small chip on the bottom front edge and only very minor marks on the rear. There are a few modifications to the bass, notably the 'FretFx' side LED's and the stripes (both easily removed with no ill effects) in addition to this there are Wizard 64 pickups, a badass bridge, hipshot detuner, Schaller strap locks, internal shielding and a pearl pick guard (original white also supplied.) there is a hole for an unused side jack from a brief experiment with an audere preamp. The bass has no routing under the pick guard and looks cool without it. The set up is to my tastes, which is super low, slick and fast with accurate intonation and no choking up the neck anywhere. There is enough height to allow semitone detuning without choking issues, (D on the e string). The neck is straight and true and the truss rod is in full working order. It's been kept regularly cleaned and maintained, and the frets maintained with gorgomyte. Sound wise it's how you'd expect it to sound, very punchy, a 3 dimensionality to the sound, lots of growl and burble. I'm selling for £600 Ono and ideally trade for a 90's stingray in natural or white, maple board ONLY. Basiclly I want my old dream bass back that I sold on here a few years back, a 92 natural Ray. 17. Out of interest I used sorbothane feet on a shuttle 9 on a midget mk1, and the finish on the cab very quickly reacted with the feet. Like overnight.
