1. I had one in the early 90's. Looked lovely, but that was about it for me, I used to play a few old tracks on it for giggles now and then, but I was really into Flea, Bill Gould and likes in those days.
2. Not a bass, but my Chinese modern player Marauder is a fabulous instrument, built, and especially finished, to a very high standard. Easily a match for my Japanese Fenders, and the best set up I've had from any guitar, ever!
3. It's a great way to do things, by my standards of bands I've been in/would play bass for we are rough as nails, but amazingly I've had more success and pay doing this and it's acoustic incarnation in the last three years, than the previous 25 playing bass in polished quality acts. Joe public just prefers this it seems!? Us in our local Halloween 2013 http://youtu.be/Uwe0-PZs6eY My let it go demo, sing learnt and recorded on the iPad on GarageBand in a couple of hours to show the guys in the band the idea. https://soundcloud.com/gafbass02/let-it-go-ipad-demo
4.
I like it, makes me want to see you to hear how they work out!
Why Thanks it's rough and ready, but a great fun night out, the drunker folks are the 'better' we get
5.
it was all going so well.... right up until the very last track
Hahhah. It's a full on rock version
6. My band are a three piece, we are a 'pop goes punk' sort of act, we do bespoke versions of rocked up pop stuff, plus a few straight covers, mainly 90's alt stuff. I'm the vocalist and guitarist (which is weird!) We've been going three years (same amount of time I've been playing guitar, we started when I started trying to play guitar and sing after 25 years on bass!) Weve done lord knows how many gigs, around 250+ at a guess. This isn't quite the full list, but it's most of it. We're proof that you dont need to be a great guitarist or singer or muso to entertain people and make a paying, regular gigging band. It's simply about the songs, mostly power chords, simple rearrangements, keep the good bits and make it fun. Our bass player is a very simple player, and I'm a newbie to guitar/vox, but it's been a blast so far! www.facebook.com/mydesignmusic I like it rough: Lady Gaga Poker Face: Lady Gaga Paparazzi: Lady Gaga Sweet dreams/pokerface mash up. 8. I can do blue
9. Thanks, yeah, different neck. The fretless one is gone now.
10. With great sadness I have to list this stunning bass for sale, I thought it was mine for life, but sadly it has to go. It's a warmoth walnut body with a custom world guitar parts neck. The pickups are wilkinson and the bridge is a babicz. The pickguard is from the USA. The set up is absolutely spot on, with a buzz free, fast low action and perfect intonation. It sounds very punchy and powerful, a pro playing friend of mine sat for an hour straight with it after picking it up once. He couldn't believe how great it was to play, a real 'slap monster' if you wish it to be. I always meant to upgrade the pickups, but it simply didn't need it!! It's only left the house once and caused the biggest fuss when folks saw it! It really does sound massive through my bass rig. It's not perfect, although all the issues are VERY minor: There are screw holes from the old bridge visible under the bridge overhang ('Babicz' logo) if you look for them, there are unused through body stringing ferrules should you wish to switch to a string through bridge, and two tiny, pin prick marks on the back. There is a wonky string retainer and one of the pickup screws is snapped, and the block inlays aren't the neatest I've ever seen. The weight is pretty heavy at 11lbs There is also an unused side jack fitted if you wished to add a preamp. That's the small negatives for the sake of honesty. The actuality is that it's an utterly jaw dropping, stunning instrument that looks, and plays, and sounds like a dream. I took hours and hours assembling and setting up and tweaking it, mainly on the set up, to make it play as well as it looks like it should!! It feels and looks like a four figure boutique bass. I'm after £500 Ono. Offers are welcome. (Collected only, I can't post) from or near to Cheltenham, I cannot post this, I don't have sufficient packaging I'm afraid. NO trades, if I didn't need the cash this would NEVER be up for sale It used to be fretless, looks good with no pickguard too A video of it as a fretless http://youtu.be/4v1u7f3HqOA
11. I've been gigging a pair of Peavey PVX12's for a few years, very light, powerful enough for pub gigs etc, solidly but and sound perfectly good. They'd be perfect for your needs.
12. Lovely things and beautifully made, but, like the audere I also owned, I found I always ended up removing them and going back to stock. It just works better for me in real world gigging situations. Ymmv of course.
13. I really fancy one of these, it looks great.
14. Drives me nuts, I'm completely with B5 on this one.
15. I've had one for over a year, loads of gigs, loads of compliments from musos and, crucially, non musos on the sound!! Lots of dropped jaws at the price, an utterly fantastic instrument that I use alongside my epi ej200 for two or three gigs a week. My only criticism is that the bridge pins have to be held in during restringing. That's it.
16. It's something I've butted up against time and again. So many engineers (and I am one, not calling them all) seem to be of a generation, or outmoded school of thought, that most of the sound/time spent, needs to consist of kick drum; and that bass guitar needs to be a low rumble/thud under the kit. Drives me nuts when it's me, and just as much when I hear it done to others. It just baffles me how such huge names are content to have their sound compromised this way. I often used to make a point of explaining to the engineer that I'd like my FoH sound to resemble my stage sound, that it has mid content, and sound checking things like harmonics and high register chords as well as plodding stuff, in mic too, to make sure it's all there. I'd ask them to take a sec to listen to the stage sound. It sometimes worked, not always. These days however the big stages (hell, stages in general!) are behind me, and it's pub corners a go go.
17. Total steal. I've owned over 75 other basses and always come back to this one.
