1. Nice one, ill post review ASAP. I owned a couple of P5110's and their extension cabs, sadly every single piece failed I wish I could pop the head on the GK. A post warranty mod perhaps
2. I concur, I'm a tweeter guy all the way, but on the mb112 I've had to considerably cut the highs, no problem with high end extension. If its as impressive at volume then this could be a seriously good buy!
3. I just got an mb112-ii. I'm a pretty much fully decided 12 hater, couldn't get along with any I've owned, I still very much found that 15's sounded 'fifteeny' and 12's sounded, well, 'twelvey'! Tens always had the punch and slam and mid sounds that I preferred without the need for much eq'ing. That included a Barefaced midgetT/compact set up among (many) others. But I have to say, that 'so far' the GK combo is the first time I've found a twelve that responds more like a ten to my ears. Very pleased so far, I bought it almost grudgingly out of nessecity (it was cheaper than the ten inch version!) But thus far I'm chuffed to bits. Expect a review once gigged!
4. A few times a year I put elixirs on all my basses. Not anymore.
5. Every stingray I've had needed a lot of adjustment compared to ther basses. Also the thin neck on the Geddy Lee Jazz can be a bit high maintenance too.
6. I use my iphone or ipad with an apogee jam, the ampkit app (trace Elliot amp for bass) and an app called 'robick' to change the pitch if songs to that which we play them in, as well as suck out the bass in the track (or mids if I'm on guitar). Lets me loop and slow down any tricky bits too.
7. I must admit, I did have a chuckle at the levellers one.
8. You're a legend I got the Duncan free so can't complain
9.
er ....... yeah, OK
Hahah. Yeah, I did rather contradict myself there! The triplebucker with its the two bridge most coils just sounds like 'a humbucker' its the best sound on the guitar by a long way. All three coils on adds a slight single coil 'quack' but really isn't a great sound at all. I've a white Seymour Duncan I'll get fitted when I've the spare cash. I'd have no clue where to begin. The Duncan has a trillion wires coming out of it!

12. I've always loved the look of jags, but the amount of criticism online re the bridge/scale/switches/radius/etc put me off, when I saw these I knew I had to have one, and by sheer luck this one came up on eBay right at my birthday A set of stripes and blocks later and some .11 strings and its mine I appreciate the mods to the looks may not be to everyone's taste, but I like it. Sounds nice, the triplebucker isn't all that, I'll replace with a standard humbucker when I can afford to pay a tech. I only really use the bridge on guitars, the jazzmaster pickup sounds nice, but benefits from the tone being rolled back a little, build and playability are nothing short of spot on. Wish the switch was angled though, its tricky to swipe as it is, not that I need to lol. It feels like a Japanese fender, very quality feeling indeed. Not bad for a cheapo made in China budget Fender I must say. 13. I've quite a lot I need to sell, but I need to sell it because I need cash. Cash I don't have to spend on a £20 fee. I've sold on here for years, since bassworld, but since the fees came in I haven't at all. I understand the reasons for it, I just can't afford to spend that much on something feels a bit 'abstract'. especially when before it was just part of what we did. All IMHO as ever.
14. I love my MoMark 800 watt. Went from a little mark 2 to a shuttle 9.0 and wasn't as keen. Neither the promethean or shuttle 3.0. Back to markbass again and couldn't be happier
15. I've given up on GAK forever. Almost Every time I've bought from them I get an email the next day saying its not available. Once I bought a pa head which was different spec to advertised. Their answer, 'pay us £80 and post it back' Sorry GAK. You've lost a good, regular customer through your mischievous, short sighted antics. (I'm sure they really care!)
16. I'm umming and ahh-ing. Wanted one for ages and one crops up right when I've just spent a load on a new guitar/junk. Typical. I'll mull a tad more
17. I've owned over 65 basses, from a pretty wide price range. I've got to say I've also found that I've realised that the expensive basses don't bring 'that' much extra to the table all things considered. In terms of detectable tonal quality in a live setting or buried in a mix, and certainly not to Joe Public. The fit, finish and ergonomics have generally been better, but not always. Not by a long way. I've owned some very poorly made warwicks and some flawless squiers. I did enjoy the kudos of owning say, a top notch ray or status or Warwick etc. which is part of the experience of ownership that comes with the price tag. I'm a confident enough player to not worry too much about brand, as long as a bass can be set up to my requirements. Which, again, I've found impossible on some basses at both ends of the scale. Ultimately. After over 65 basses owned Ive settled on two passive, modded, Japanese fender jazz basses and a tanglewood as my perfect three. Any one of them can be made to cover most tones I'm likely to require, 'stingray' 'p bass' 'old school thump' 'hi-fi' etc. it's in the fingers, amp and settings for much more than the actual bass. I've also found budget, simple basses tend to record HUGELY better and more effectively than hi tech active ones, my worst recorded tones have always been with actives, and vice versa. Many producers have steered me back to my jazz bass over the years. It just works quickly, predictably and well. Everyone finds their voice in a different way. I'll always remember watching Fred Baker on his squier All IME. IMHO. Etc.
18. These look amazing, had my eye on them for a while, love to own a pair one day.
19. Every piece of Harley Benton I've owned has been fantastic quality and great vfm. Two guitar cabs and an acoustic bass.
20. I must admit as a former barefaced owner I'm starting to think about another set. I massively prefer the tone and build of my Bergantino AE210's to my old midgetT/compact set up, but I do miss the sheer weightlessness of the BF rig. Sadly I'm in no position to swap as I'd have to sell my bergs first to fund and I'm pretty busy with gigs every week so no time to wait without a rig. :-/ who knows, maybe something will present itself.
21. Very kind, and there's always much to learn, however I've been playing constantly for over twenty years and am pretty happy with my technique on the whole. The video is just a quick snap shot quickly grabbed at the kitchen table, so not a great representation of my playing or style, it's just to snag the flicky thing while I thought to notice it. I was balancing something on my knee too I think, to stop it being grabbed by a toddler.
22. I've noticed I sort of, 'flick' the strings away when plucking, so I do the pluck part, then play another note with a flick. It's hard to explain so I shot a quick mobile clip, it's not plugged, (well it it is, but im wearing headphones) tv is on, kids are yelling, the playing is erratic and out of time, but it was just to capture the moment of what I was doing while I noticed I do it, before I forgot! I just wanted to ask really, if it has a name, is it commonplace etc? Pure idle curiosity, I just happen to notice its part of how I play. Think I'm playing 'James Dean' from a set I play, I've no idea who it's by and I've never heard the original. http://youtu.be/i5f9qYfhTJQ
23.
One of my old band's vocalist's use to think he was a master of EQ and stage sound. Every gig he'd be on about the bass - always thought it was too much in volume or thump. I knew he was wrong! One gig I simply mimed during the soundcheck..... You guessed it - gave me a thumbs up, and announced, 'perfect'!
I had this for years, only it was never perfect and even 'too loud' when i mimed, I took to explaining to the engineer what would happen at sound check and just to ignore him.
