If I recall correctly the gain clipping light on the genz shuttles can be virtually ignored. They ought up way before actual clipping occurs or something and it's a soft valve-y clipping when it does. If I recall correctly. Check with user 'agedhorse' is it? on talkbass.

I get this a lot. We do a very specific set if rocked up pop covers. Britney, Bonnie Tyler, Whigfield etc all rocked up. But you still get 'play enter sandman' all night. It's like, have you not got what we're doing here?!!? Go see one of the other hundreds of bands playing Hey Joe and enter sandman every night within five miles of here. Had a guy ask for nirvana every song the other week (while I'm playing and singing too, very aggressive and very annoying) the crowd started to applause me the fourth or fifth time that I'd explained that we didnt know any and hadn't had time to learn any while playing the last song?!!? Eventually he started shouting green day. So I relented and played basket case as I happened to know it. He overreacted, smashed a chair (he seemed a tad, um, 'Borat' ) And got chucked out before the drums had even come in.

And different again with the lighter neck extension. Fantastic basses. Mines staying forever.

Im about to Pull the trigger on a peavey pvi 8b plus. But I must admit, the idea of getting a cheap power amp like the Inuke or t amp e800 to power my eurosys 2's (vocals for pub three piece rock gifs only) and spending the rest on a used iPad Is getting more tempting by the day!

I must admit. I've toyed with using my as a power amp to power the pa before by going into the power amp through the fx loop. So it's good to see I'm not the only one Any reason I shouldn't?

Very tempting actually, but it's still 33lbs and due to the amount I'm having to load into the car I need to go as light as possible. Also it's 200w into 4ohms, would that be ok with our two 8 ohm speakers like on a bass amp, or does the fact that it's two channels mean that each side is only seeing 8ohms and delivering less power as such? I'll def consider it

Hi all. At the moment I play guitar and sing in a three piece rock band. (Don't ask! Long story! Can't wait to get back to the bass!) We are using a pa I bought on here, a pair of peavey eurosys two speakers and a spirit powerstation 600 desk. But the desk is a bit heavy and bulky to move around, so I was thinking about something smaller and lighter. Problem is it has to be really really cheap! I'm torn between a behringer power amp EPQ900 and using the bass players existing behringer mixer with fx into it, or buying an all in one powered mixer, something like the Behringer pmp980. I know behringer stuff ain't the best and I'm very familiar with all the arguments, but it really is all I can afford! I'd like the Yamaha emx512 but simply can't afford it. I'd rather buy new and light than an older heavier unit that may be on its last legs. I'm thinking the power amp route may be better cause of the modular design, ie, change one thing at a time, as opposed to the more handy one box, which if it goes, it's gone. On the downside with a power amp it probably means a rack case and more power supplies etc. Any thoughts or help appreciated but please bear in mind the skintness. £250 really is it Infact it's pushing it lol. I looked at the inuke but it looks like it would be terribly underpowered into my 8ohm eurosys 2's. The powerstation is 265w per side so I'd like to not dip below 200w/220w ish if poss. It's for three vocal mic's only, over a loud drummer, one guitar and bass. I miss bass! This singing/bandleader lark is all too complicated lol.

I move around a fair bit, but I like being on top of my amp best of all, I enjoy the sound back there

I'm another that likes a crazy low action, I find it almost impossible to play with speed, dexterity and subtlety on high action basses. But many people do and I admire them for it!

Somebody earlier mentioned knowing more about a few products they were interested in than the sales guy, but as a former sales guy I should probably add a bit of balance I s'pose, I used to get this a lot, folks that had researched the ass off a few things and knew them to to the nth degree, they would then get all snarky cause they knew those three things better than me, thinking they were a huge expert and I was a mere pleb before them; of course what they forgot was that I had to also know a huge range of info about every. Other. Single. Thing. In. The. Shop!! However that was hi-fi and I would rather chew my own face off than deal with hi-fi customers ever again. -literally. But yes, I lament the death of the high street music store, but every single time I've given a local one a chance it's ended up a poor experience. Back to thomann
