1. All my gain comes from my floor effects so it's pretty much on or off doesn't clean from the volume control at all luckily I'm a bit crap so that's fine :-)
2. They really are great sounding, I'm totally chuffed with mine I have had the bergs on their side and they stack up fine, in fact i attached some rubber feet onto the corners to make them stack even better without having to drill holes into them.
3. That's alright bud. It's literally the thought that counts. So kind of you mate :0) cheers loads
4. This thread inspired me to go back and try again with a Berg hooked up to my new combo. Sounds pretty good ! I'm going to risk a gig with it next weekend.
5. Bless ya! This forum is so lovely. I've just been offered some pickups from our very own leschirons too.
6. Leicester to Glasgow and back in a 'day' for a 30 minute set in the SECC.
7. That line 6 foot switch thing always scared me when it was all our guitarist had. Nothing else, just that and the amp. If it went wrong (and that amp was very finicky) you really were stiffed unless you could borrow an amp. But If someone was kind enough to lend you a Marshall then you say thanks for being so kind and crack on!! Thankfully it never died at a gig. That much.
8. Did our first fully pa'd up (I.e not just a vocal pa in the pub corner) type venue gig last weekend. This is with my band 'MyDesign' with me on guitar/vocals. (badly!!) and basschatter Davemuadib on bass. We had such a blast and I was so pleased it translated well to a larger stage. I was worried our bantery, party vibe might not stand up as a proper 'show'. But this review came through and I'm dead pleased. Some good pics too. Review from the latest 2pigs show: My Design @ 2Pigs 4/01/12 After much deliberation and recommendations, I went along to see My Design at the 2 Pigs Cheltenham. As soon as I walked in the door, the crowd were grooving on down to some childhood songs with a twist! The ability this band have to make some ‘cheese’ songs their own is astonishing and I found myself bopping along to a new version of ‘Saturday Night’ along with some smooth dance moves in the middle of Cheltenham’s only alternative club! The atmosphere was tangible; the smiles and vibes were intoxicating. What a way to christen the 2 Pigs new décor! With songs such as; Total Eclipse of the Heart, Prodigy-Breathe, Spice up your Life and Wannabe, the range and technique had me burning calories until I looked like a Supermodel! The band not only brings viewers into the music, but they have you singing along to secret guilty pleasures you would never admit to knowing such as Britney Spears. After immersing myself in the crowd and asking opinions, the response was fantastic with comments such as; ‘Who can say they have seen people moshing to Tiffany’s I Think We’re Alone Now’! And ‘How many bands can cater to everyone’s music taste and have them all dancing along and getting involved’ Also, there was a call for them to cover some Bon Jovi! The art of musicality and stage presence were undeniably present at this gig and My Design didn’t even have any support acts. They managed a complete 1.5/2 hour gig with only a 5 minute break! They did have a guest singer, Susannah Moffat who helped them to sing Katy Perry’s 'I kissed a girl', Shakespeare's sisters 'Stay' and Lady Gaga’s 'Poker Face'. I was taken on a thrilling ride and I certainly didn’t want to get off. At the end of the night I spoke to Gaf, Lead guitar and vocals, to find out that the band started up as a joke, and he has only been playing lead guitar for 6 months as he was originally a bassist. All I can say is I can’t wait to see what My Design comes up with next. The 2 pigs have an awesome way of putting gigs together making them friendly for everyone. With some new paint, improved floor and smiling staff, you can relax and feel at home at the 2 Pigs. The refurbishment is close to being finished and looking fantastic! Little Red, MtM Radio ....'originally a bassist' ... Lol.
9. When I was in Double Cross we were lucky enough to have gear carted about and set up for us and the guitarist used four 4x12's and a mahoosive rack. One of the cabs was different In some way and weighed about twice the rest, but looked the same, I think it was older, if we were moving the kit on our own it was pot luck when you went to the van and grabbed a handle Before we started doing the big places we took all our kit to the local pub (Loaded Dog in Leicester) and did a freebie gig to mates just to rinse the kit out at gig volume. He took all four and I took two bass stacks. Lol. Nuts!! The police apparently arrived but luckily we'd just finished! Was fun for a first gig. :0) This video taken a few weeks later shows us setting up at Birmingham symphony hall and you can see Styx's offstage guitar area and the real cabs miked up behind the wall of fake cabs. http://m.youtube.com/?client=mv-google&dc=organic&rdm=4pcfq6cqi&source=mog#/watch?v=BR8gDjHpN2o
10. Cheers all. Tbh I thought I'd marked this withdrawn ages ago. I simply can't bring myself to do it. If it comes to selling, which it still might, I'll contact you guys who have stated interest.
11. Pics, it's pretty much unused. 12. That's handy. Cheers dude. I let a secret go last week, so maybe it's karma! Course now it's in public ...
Best kept secret in the guitar world (loathe to let it go, but you are in need) early 80s Hondo 2 Les Paul copies came with Di Marzio Humbuckers that are utterly brilliant. You can pick up the guitar for about 35 quid on the bay, strip out the pickups and sell off the bits to make your money back. I have got a few sets of them this way, and still have one set in an epi SG which is now lovely. Just make sure they are not the shiny paf looking ones, as those hondo ones are unbuckers, and sh*t. 13. I got a great sound out of my bass rig at home with the guitar, but once i it at gig volume it sounded awful. Be a proper win if I can get it sound good though.
