1. Exactly This sort of thing was why bassworld (as was then) first caught my attention and drew me in. I got sent a bass in the post totally on trust! And all all these years later, despite the fact that I'm a much less regular poster I'm still very proud to be a part of such a unique and genuine community. Happy Christmas everyone Aaahhh!!
2. Most of you know my sonic blue jazz, it's been 'the one' for years. Despite this I never stopped trying to find something better. At first this was modding my jazz and then trying other basses. I've now owned over 60 basses, and the jazz is still the one. That and my backup, which is a white version of the same bass! I guess I've just narrowed down what works the best for me in the most situations. Which is a 70's 'style' fender jazz. But I've had ace fun along the way. Biggest regrets were an '88 status, a '90 streamer lx and a '92 ray. All basses I loved, but my fender has been with me through thick and thin since the early 90's. Despite the fact that these days the body is the only original part left lol! I've found by changing the way I play it I can make it sound like whatever I need it to. ray or p or j or whatever really. It's all in the attack, the set up and hand position and maybe a touch of eq/drive from the zoom b9. That and finally realising no one else cares ! 3. Now that's very interesting! Despite my woes with them I'm still very interested in one!
4. Hah hah, see, I knew we were in safe hands
5. Chuffed to have you aboard, and in the drivers seat at BGM. I'm sure it'll be a winner
6. I'd be interested to hear what Shep has to say as a bit of a cable/power supply fanatic. (yes I've heard all the it makes no difference stuff a 1000 times
7. Just wanted to say thanks to Bankai for taking the time to post up his findings for us. Cheers fella. Appreciate the thought and the time taken.
8. Always, always take a spare here. Done 1000's of gigs and yes, I've needed it a few times. E String break during title track at rock city, stingray randomly packed up supporting sikth. I always have a reachable, tuned up spare bass onstage and a set of strings within reach too. As well as a back up cable coiled on top of my amp and a secondary option incase of amp failure. Just a DI on my pedal board and a spare in my bag is all it takes.
9. For sheer acoustic volume I've found you can't beat the enormous, but very cheap Harley benton acoustic bass from thomann. A bit of a secret jem.
10. I've done some gigs that ended up fairly rocky with the Drummist on one of these. Amazing things, no substitute for a kit, but mic'd can sound brutal.
11. B9 Dave. it's all about the B9 you know it makes sense.
12. Yeah I've had two combos and two cabs, all duff. :-/ but I'd love a working set! One day, can't even afford inhalers now let alone bass gear.
13. Very good condition, hardly used, heres the bassdirect page http://www.bassdirec.../IGIG_Bags.html enough space to fit everything in the world and two basses easily £180 collection preferred postage maybe possible if you bear with me on a sending date, pics soon
14. As its sounds. The current financial situation has finally nailed my bass rig I need to free up some of the money stored in my bass rig. Hence I'm hoping for the unlikely chance that someone wants to upgrade their rig. I'll take either two TC RS210's plus £275 or two MarkBass Traveller 102p's plus £250 as an exchange against my two very good condition horizontal style (although they have feet attached to the corner protectors so can be mounted vertically) Bergantino AE210's with Covers There's not much I can say about them that hasn't been said. They sound simply beautiful. I've really babied them, and they've seen very little use, NEVER thrashed at all. Im based in Cheltenham, can drive a short way to meet up if needs be.
15. mate, download robick You can run it at the same time as the amp apps and use it to loop, slow, change key, repeat, remove mids or bass, etc etc. Its such an amazing learning tool. It imported my entire 'to learn' playlist in seconds.
