  1. Slang for I take them out and use them - it's not often.
  2. Headphones at home and iems on a gig. I’ve two headrush 112s that sometimes get an airing, but that’s pretty much it.
  3. Bit of a rough n ready (and bass heavy) live recording of me butchering Rio 😂 The audio is a bit like the bass playing, all over the shop and not much cop, but still, it’s fun innit Headphones best obvs
  4. This bass seems to have taken on a life of its own over the years! More people seem to know it than me!
  5. Quick and dirty phone vid to show that, despite my dodgy playing, it really does play just fine It’s fun and tiny IMG_8037.mov
  6. Ok. So, this is a bit different! Bought recently to see if I liked headless. Which I do. So I’ve since bought an EHB, and this is now taking up space in the rack. Dunno if the work was done by someone on here, but it’s a cracking job! Apparently it lost its head unceremoniously. The thing plays great with a nice low action. All the electronics are standard (older model) SR500, with no issues or drama. It’s currently wearing a brand new set of light strings with a 100 E. The weight is around 8lbs, about 7.5 of which is the bridge! 😂 (hence I’ve added a second lower strap button on the bottom a la status - this works great.) There’s a custom fabricated shim plate in the neck joint to compensate for the larger bridge and it’s just a total blast to play. A real slap monster Strictly collection only from Cheltenham. - I really do have no time or facility to post I’m afraid. £170 collected ONO Im not that fussed about selling, it’s a fun thing to have around, it’s just not getting used at all. Please do study the pics carefully.
  7. Same! I’ll add in my Genz Benz contour 500 combo and extension cab. One of the best rigs I’ve had, despite that fact that I’ve had some really nice rigs. But this simple little combo was just flawlessly fabulous
  8. A.. Every single cable for the band’s entire set up gets meticulously wrapped and taped for storage after every show. Takes a minute, but it’s ultimately worth it.
  9. I just stand behind the subwoofer. Gives me the feel of a bass amp being around, when its just me and my IEMs, works well for me and my particular band set up.
  10. I had this exact issue. Drove me nuts and put me off ever buying anything of any size from them again.
  11. We just got a couple of videos sent through from a recent gig. The audio is a bit 'quick 'n' dirty straight off the desk, (had to tweak the bass in post a bit cause of tech issues caused by monitor spill). But anyway, here's a 'Royal Blood' cover. Its almost all bass from my Zoom B9.1ut with a bit of help from a sparrow Di and a graphic EQ pedal. The guitarist does play a few quiet bits, but otherwise its just me doing what I could fuddle together without spending any money when the band said they wanted to cover Royal Blood! 😂😂
  12. Yup, that’s what I do. A monitor feed from the behringer xair to a rolls pm50 on my pedalboard lets me balance myself against the band. It’s ace. The end result sounds the same as when I rehearse at home in headphones.
  13. I solved this by running two short and simple signal chains, one to FOH and one to me. This way I can get a great IEM sound with cab sim from my zoom ms60b and an eq pedal, and then my usual sound out the Di to the desk as always. A bit of tinkering has meant that my IEM sound is super close to FOH so I don’t make any weird changes to my onboard EQ whilst playing.
  14. He was a bit of a 70s throwback even then. This was around 95/96
  15. Back in the 90s , in one very hot, sweaty summer, I had a whole gig of brutal shocks, sparks leaping all over the pace. I was shirtless and shoeless and dripping with sweat and beer. When I packed down afterwards, feeling very dazed from two hours of shocks, I discovered why… The day before I’d been in the studio, my amp had buzzed, the engineer had sent us to get lunch whilst he fixed the buzz. What he’d done was never mentioned and we cracked on. The next night as frazzled me went to unplug my amp, I noticed that the earth wire was hanging out the side of the plug! Wish I’d found his ‘fix’ when I plugged in instead of afterwards!!!
  16. Wedding. Played. Waited. Played. Melted. Great food. Home. Bed. Win.
  17. We have this with ‘Go your own way’, should be simple, but something always seems to stumble in that one.
  18. Last Saturday's gig was an entirely pleasant-yet-unremarkable affair, everything went as it should a nice night was had. Can't really ask for more!
  19. “Why don’t we have this conversation somewhere else, only I think the band are using this doorway to move equipment through.”
  20. One to play and to play if the one I'm playing breaks. If there's room, spare's on a stand ready to go, if not, it's in a bag close by also ready to go.
  21. String break at Rock city supporting Dokken, it was the E and whole song revolved around the open E. quick change time! Also had an electrical failure at some venue in Leicester supporting Sikth when my stingray died for no apparent reason, it was fine the next day.
  22. This. Mine was a super pretty bass, but just felt like it had been put together on the cheap, and was very quiet. I regret selling it for personal reasons (it was a present to myself for not dying from covid) but as a working instrument, it wasn’t as good as it looked sadly.
  23. Nothing special last night. Local venue that’s a massive echo chamber. Nice appreciative crowd and an early night 🙂 Job’s a good ‘un!
