Jazz

Cheers dude I guess I should post this one too: My 75 reissue jazz luvvit.
3. It's when I see a guy that can blatantly hardly play and not that interested in bass making a living as a bass player that I get pretty fed up. Feels like I've spent years learning my craft and my instrument for nothing. Shoulda spent more on haircuts and practicing tickling a (inevitably) p bass or Rick with a plectrum while staring at my feet.
4. I'm a purebred Never played guitar. Never wanted to play guitar, can't play guitar! Just a few power chords, e, c, d, g and f. That's my lot. Dunno any fancy majors or minors lol. I started on bass (aged, i dunno, 15-16 ish, in the heyday of grunge, a good time to start!) cause it just looked way cooler than guitars, and I liked the lower sound. I was gigging on bass within a month and have never stopped or looked back. Every so often I've had a hankering to buy a cheap guitar to bang out Therapy? Songs on but it never lasts more than a few weeks. Never gigged one. My wife is all like: "But you can play the guitar in most people's opinion", but when I see the people ive been lucky enough to play with and how they play, I won't put myself on the same page; whereas I'm a pretty decent bass player I (hope!) I'm all about the bass baby:)

Jazz

Adapted from another (old) thread: I thought you might enjoy these pics of me 'n my fave bass ever; my 1990 MIJ jazz in sonic blue. Its had so many different forms and mods over the years and despite the pics (mainly iphone so not great) its actually really battered, worn chipped and dinged and looks great! Its my third ever bass and the one i had a picture of stuck in my school folder when i started out as my dream bass that i aspired to own one day. As it happens a year later i found mine going cheap in a local used guitar place which burnt down shortly after!, at a time when i could just scrape together the cash if i sold my other bass, the guy was very relectant to do me a deal but i managed it and legged it home to clean off the gunk which had lowered the price by £50 to something i could afford! Funnily enough not long after i met a guy who had gone in to buy it just after me! After over 60 other basses and three necks, two preamps, two sets of tuners (poss three, now back to the grungy originals) god knows how many other tweaks and hardware changes shes still my number one, despite a lengthy flirtation with warwick! (even then she was always onstage tuned up ready to go. heres a link to a set of pics of me 'n JB as its known from over the last 18 years we've been gigging together! I even played her at my wedding! The pics are in this flickr album here.................. 6. To save me wading through the whole thread can someone point me at a replacement pickguard that will fit a ryder P? I'm after a white pearl, but if I can buy one rather than aurora project I'd prefer it as I don't like the pearl they use. Also will standard fender type replacement necks fit em do we know? I wanna mod my song blue. Cheeeers Gaf
7. Love the wristband idea, id still love a sticker on the ol cabs though
8. Aw Man. It was cool to see that again! I remember eagerly checking over and over the days basstalk, and then basschat were due to come on. I posted much more regularly on bassworld, guess I had more time, or poss cause the computer was in the living room.
9. Another faker here. I know how you feel. keep plugging away mate, so many people would love to be able to do what you do, be in a band and gig.
10. Wow. This and the squier Jag I thought would go super quick, and the one time I want and can buy a bass (ray) there's none going! What's goin on!?
11. Sir Duke. I always thought Id just never be bothered to learn that widdley bit, but then I had to and it wasn't such a big deal, and I really enjoy playing it. It totally grooves and there's room for fun, and I have to play it pretty much most weeks. Glad I bothered now
12.
Main bass = stingray. Back up = another stingray. Only take 1 bass to gigs as they're mega reliable
Funnily enough, snapped strings aside, the only time I had a bass mysteriously pack up on a gig only to be fine again afterwards at home was: a stingray. :-/ I'm another one that always takes a back up bass; both mine are very similar indeed.
13. Yeah, i've calmed down a bit these days, back then it was all 'Look at meeeeeee!' Drove singers nuts!, heh heh
14. Heres another one of my old band Double Cross, here we are playing our title track at Bristol Colston Hall in 2005, I like this one :-) DOUBLE CROSS
15.
So it should really be called a "gubbins-hider".
Genius!
16. In particular this, albeit low quality video which shows the real amps behind the wall of fake marshalls at Birmingham symphony hall, and a quick glimpse into the 'guitar village' at the side of the stage. here theres some other stuff in my channel including a cool bit of footage from my side of the stage at Hammersmith and a very noisy metal gig with my much missed and sadly lamented status sixer. Not to mention a brief bit of slap at the lounge fly debut gig, cause I know how popular slap is on here lol! Not sure how to post my channel this might work: Try clicking here?!
17.
Ahh! The sound of a thousand working mens clubs. I can almost taste the smell of fags and bitter.
Is that a Sei I see?
18. Cheers mine was the trace, the rest belonged to headliners Styx, they were just dummies the real ones were backstage. Where it was VERY loud!
19. I've often asked about two or three different basses from ishibashi u box only to be told the neck is bowed. Wether it's climate or because they don't want to ship here I dont know. That said I have bought two brand new fenders off them with no problems (before the fender export ban)
20. Look what i managed to post on youtube with a fellow basschatters help! Its me in colston hall in '05 still no idea how to make the picture thingy embed
21. Only just picked this up from here, but I just lost my 2nd job so cash will be tight, sticking this back up at £10 less than I paid and including a battery clip Here's a link to all the details from East. http://east-uk.com/jretrodeluxe01.pdf Awesome things, this is one is £100 posted
