Images now attached. The first three use a flash, this makes the colour of the bass look lighter than it is. The last is without a flash and shows a much truer representation of its real colour. Hi folks Ignore the "Price or Trade Value - this price has now been dropped but I can't get the editor to amend that original price for sale I have my SGC Nanyo Bass Collection 320 series 4 string, Japanese made, in 1995. In a dark sen wood (Japanese Ash, not heavy, beautiful grain) with deep lacquer, with gold fittings, GOTOH tuners, SGC P & J pickups. Really excellent condition. Will post (insured etc) £280, (or £260 for collection, Leicester, close to M1). Photos & more details available
That's the most appealing ad i've ever read. If i wasn't a tad too far away (geographically, not proficiency), i'd be up for it.
I wouldn't worry about being too far away. With an AD like this, not being able to turn up to rehearsals would be a bonus! I'm thinking of it - I live in the midlands and am pretty useless!
The much maligned UB40 (who I generally cannot stand) kicked off with a really good double A-sided single King/Food for Thought. The latter has a really nice bass line. Link below:
Good choice. Not an obvious reggae bassline either, more slides than usual?

Obscure Musical Backwaters - The Great SGC Nanyo Thread
As promised 3 photo's of the previously unknown SB801, I wonder what happened to it?
that's an odd mixture of gold hardware with black control knobs. Looks great otherwise -
Cant pass this thread by without chipping in. I bought an immaculate used SR605 for £299 to dip my foot into the 5 string pool and was so impressed with it that I sold my 4 string gigging Laklands and bought a SR1205 premium . These two basses are now the only basses I own. The overall design template for both basses is incredibly well thought out and works beautifully. Over the last 35 yrs I have literally owned almost every brand from Status, Wal, Alembic, Musicman, Vigier, Fenders, Laklands, Ricks etc etc etc etc...I could go on all day....so I think I know my stuff. For the money the 605 is a gorgeous instrument...light, beautiful construction, great playability and electrics pups. The 1205 is simply stunning..,..easily one of the nicest basses I have owned, and arguably currently giving me my best ever live sound! A 5 string that weighs 8lbs and knocks out absolute killer sounds whilst playing like butter. Build quality is superb. I cant believe how overlooked and underated the Ibanez SR basses are, especially the higher end models. For the record I think the difference in quality between the Premium and Prestige range is negligable. This, for me, makes the Premium range the best value for money of all the SR's.
Well done getting a 605 for under £300! I'm on the look out for one, or a 705 - though I'm not massively keen on the Transparent Black that we get

All this talk of Ibanez, can someone tell me the actual weight of the Ibanez K5 please, and which year the specific weighted item was manufactured, as I guess they vary depending on the build? Thinking of getting one but want a light 5er

lowballing .. definition and .. is it insulting ?
jahfish replied to hamfist's topic in General Discussion
For me, a lowball offer is less than 25% of the asking price. A lowball tells me that the person doesnt really want the item and is being cheeky on the offchance. Having said that though, I've offered 25% below the asking price (which was obviously refused) but then negotiated a sensible medium. It's part of the haggling banter I think. If people get offended at a lowball then they're taking it far too seriously and to be honest show a reluctance to negotiate and miss out on a sale. If you advertise on a forum, you should expect to haggle and advertise a price with that in mind. Truckstop
Very true this. I quite recently made what I considered a fair offer for an item on here, and was turned down with some comment. Since then I have got the same item 'elsewhere-bay' for less than my offer. And the seller on here ended up reducing his price below my original offer too just to get a sale! Suppose some people would rather an item hangs around for ages in the hope of making a few extra quid! -
