1. Drill the hole in the case out a bit. Or.. If its rubber, melt it out a bit with a soldering iron.
2. Make sure you set it to Stun only.
3. For sale, my Ampeg Blackface SVP Pro pre-amp SOLD Condition. The Preamp has a missing fader top on the 90Hz fader on the graphic. It works fine, just need to get a fingernail on it. Also, the master volume pot is a replacement and the mid selecter pot cap is missing. All works, just no pot cap. It's had a couple of new Electro Harmonix valves in it, and sounds pretty good. There is a slight hum which is very typical with the early blackface models. I've been using a cheap hum canceller with it. All in all a well used but magnificent sounding example of Ampeg ampleness for those who like it I'm located in Manchester and could deliver throughout the Northwest for a bit of fuel. PRICE REDUCED TO £180 inc POSTAGE TO UK IF BOUGHT IN NEXT 10hours Bargain price for quick sale. MM
4. Looking to sell my 2002/3 Made in Mexico Fender Jazz in Sunburst. Fitted to the bass is a set of Nordstrand NJ4 SV split coil hum cancelling pickups, and very nice they are too. The Jazz is in great condition, there is a ding or two on the rear of the neck but hardly noticeable. The body is clean with no heavy scrapes or dings. The hardware is in good condition. It has a black scratchplate as fitted when I bought it, and has P type chrome knobs rather than the black Jazz plastic type. Neck is fine and straight, currently fitted with D'Addario half wounds with a few gigs on the clock. I haven't used this in anger on a gig since I got my P set up properly with flats and the addition of an OLP as backup means I no longer need such a nice bass with very nice pickups for pubs and wedding gigs. I would like £360 (reduced to £330) reduced again to £300 for this, bearing in mind the pickups separately would fetch £70 alone. This does not include Postage which would probably be around £15.00 inc decent insurance. (Now including postage) Regards, MM NOW Sold
5. Knell. As above, Headphones. Your neighbours will thank you.
6. Radgy apeshit bananas. Works for me I have a singer who complains that we aren't a tribute band, so why do I insist on playing and singing the right note... He still moans about the keys player who left last year, because he worked out their harmonies and emailed them to him. I'd love someone to sit at home doing my work for me. So,be up front, and see what the others say. You might be surprised.
7. That's a good store if you like Marshall and Fender Rolex. No ampeg,Vox etc.
8. Same situ here. Ad up on Sunday, had 12 replies, auditioning two tonight, would have done more days/auditions this week but the singer couldn't be arsed seeing as he's now in another band he didn't tell us about. Guitarist on hols from tomorrow for a week, so that's out. If I haven't brained the singer with my heaviest bass by then, we may well do more. Complete head f*** with loads of mails from over qualified session musos through to one who decided he couldn't actually learn any songs without a kit in front of him.
9. Agreed with above. Nothing gets the attention better than a "funds suspended"message from PayPal. You paid 3 weeks ago. Unacceptable.
10. Just fold an edge over.
11. Had an Ohm120 head with a graphic on it. Nice amp.
12. We've had this discussion. It's not just the singer who uses the PA. the whole band does. As such, it should be a band asset.
13. Update. I replied along the lines of having plenty of equipped drummers to audition and that perhaps he might consider looking elsewhere. His reply.. "Thanks for getting back to me so soon your right I do have plenty of sticks if fact the wife jokes about how many I have (it's quite funny) anyway I have managed to find a kit but it doesn't come with any symbols but I think we'll get by on the night especially on the backing tracks as I am quite a good mime . What time do you want me to be there for and can you send directions ,chris " Had a bit of a moment at the word mime, but replied courteously that he probably wasn't what we were looking for in a drummer. It's prob a wind up but I'm having a very strange day and nothing seems real.
14. Nope, it's true. I'll post the whole reply if you like. From: chris Email: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Message:hi i been playing drums for about 26 years in clubs and pubs all over the world. i have played many different kits ,small ,medium and large.i have a big collection of sticks mainly wooden ones ,but also have some brushes for trad jazz stuff and african tribal music.i dont have a kit at the moment and wondered if your band could supply one for when we do a gig. chris 28 01 2013 22:20:51
15. He's gonna pop an apple in yer ass.
16. I feel your pain,I'm currently trying to replace the....drummer : ( Just had a reply to my ad saying he's got loads of sticks but asking if we have a drum kit for him to use when we gig... Couldn't make it up. Another says the three songs I sent him are all new to him and as he can't rehearse at home he won't be able to learn them for the audition... Wtf did he think learning two sets was going to take then? Must go for a weep..
17. Very much the muggins here. I don't give lifts but once they are all at the room It's my van with the gear in and I drive there and back every time. I pre pack the PA before every gig, and set it back up again before the next rehearsal. I also do the sound, maintenance, buying and selling of PA gear, and the lights with any (brain melting)DMX programming. Also programming for backing tracks and any recording for website demos/videos,rehearsal room cleaning and maintenance and deal with the landlord. About the only thing I don't do it get bookings. Yes, it gets bloody annoying sometimes when the rest turn up like deadheads wondering why you're a bit stressed, but I treat this as a small business and do the jobs that need doing rather than chuck the tiara. I'm constantly trying to delegate various jobs, not so much to lighten my load but to get others more interested in the running of the band. As a side note the singer always used to blag lifts off the last drummer, then when the drummer left he blagged the guitarist. He also has a variation on the Bad Back.He has a Bad Knee. sniff. After them both arriving late at a Liverpool gig because the guitarist had to go from Wigan to Warrington to Liverpool, (we are based in Manchester btw so this meant myself and the drummer had to do the load out by ourselves),I lost it and told them to sort it out. The guitarist and singer came in the next day looking hot and bothered and from that day on, no more lifts and no more going straight to the gig while others do the lifting. It used to shock me how lazy some musos are, but now I just put the foot down and take no prisoners. Also, if you are the taxi, then you get paid for it, not much, but def fuel and mebbe something to help with the maintenance of the vehicle. You are after all, wearing your stuff out, to put money in their pockets. Simple miso rule. Do it once, it's a favour and they appreciate it. Do it twice and it's still cool. Do it thrice and its simply your job and nobody cares until you don't do it and they get upset. Blimey, rant over, think you hit a nerve
18. Ah,they're all winding you up mate. I say go for it. Just remember to defrost them in the microwave before fitting.
19.
And I like to think that my arse is my loudest feature .
Fixed
20. Dingus your arse speaks volumes. I've never read such elitist bollocks in all my life. That is all.
21. Clay ton for a Masterclass anyone?
22. A few good posts here. I'm biased, I grew up listening to Joy Division 24 hours a day, and it was hard in Manchester to get away from their influence for quite a while. So, I'm very familiar with what Peter Hook achieved. However, and without wishing to bang on about it, those whose definition of music seems to be about how technically proficient one might be and by what level of musical theory one might understand, have a very stunted and archaic understanding of musicality. There is a lot of "feel" in JDs bass lines, there is a massive amount of harmonic and rhythmic interaction given the arrangements of the songs. Somebody had to write those parts, somebody had to arrange them. So,my definition of "musician" is probably derived more from Peter Hook than say Pastorious, or Wooten.(I have no recordings of either of those "master musicians". ) Peter Hook may claim he doesn't know where A is on a bass ,more fool you if you believe him. That is all.
23. Looks like you're just rubbing each other up the wrong way.
24. Utter bargain, great amp. The cutting out seems to have been a gain problem exacerbated by clumsy compression. Setting the gain properly before slapping the comp on does the trick. Mind you, mine hasn't given any grief at all over 20 gigs, comp or gain or no. Somebody buy it.
