1. How about permanent rehearsal/storage rooms, anyone have any experience insuring one of those?
2. Used to do a bar residency where the drummer often hit my headstock and neck with his right hand stick. If I moved away from him my right elbow was banging into the upper keyboard. Move forward got me and my pedal trodden on by the singer and various pissheads. This sat was The Bluebell Warrington. Lowered ceiling that you could touch and remove the downlights from (yes we did). Every time I changed or put on my bass, thump in the roof. Cheapo bitsa jazz next time. Depressing thing is, nobody will even notice.
3. I couldn`t buy it without selling the wife. And her car. Hmmmmmm....
4. Creamy goodness with the SVs. These should go quickly.
5. "Quite impressed all things considered"! Come on man, you can supply a few more details surely. Why impressed? What things did you consider before becoming impressed? Give it up..
6. May be interested in the VL208. Should you decide to split could you think of a price? Ta.
7. The clips for 421s are indeed crap. You can use matchsticks jammed under the release mechanism to prevent them opening but the work loose over time leading to the inevitable bounce off the floor tom. Worth it though for the sound
8. The tension! Is it... possibly?
9. 3 year old ad...... Zombie resurrection thread.
10. I think the OP was trying to get at the mentality of a crowd that can dance to the same 60 year old songs week in week out. I mean, it`s definitely not normal behaviour. Very conservative vibe doing covers. Can be frustrating.
11.
Anyway their last studio album was very good ( much better than the Justin Sullivan solo album that came out about the same time !)
The JS solo CD has Danny Thompson on UrB,and a few nice tunes!
12.
Strike him roughly and throw him to the ground centurion.
This. Only in Latin.
13. Yes. It`s fun.
14. It`s a horrible feeling, sitting there wondering if you could have prevented it in some way and that it could all have gone differently if only... But, sh*t happens and you just have to make the most of the opportunities coming your way. Like you said, you must have learned a shed load of stuff about amplifying double basses in a massive band,(something most of us will never experience),and you `ve experimented with a vast amount of equipment.None of this experience will be wasted. Family time seems a great idea. You can`t do the muso stuff without the support of your family. Summer is coming and I`m sure you`ll be posting Gig news soon, and buying more stuff you probably don`t need luck.
15. All the above are spot on, you can play quieter if you work at it. However,if you have a singer who tends to go up and down, then a compressor and a cheap IEM is the way to go IMO. This will be essential for gigs anyway so...
16. I just went for the lazy option.GT6b Does most things OK and perfect for a covers band for those odd occasions you need something unsubtle.
17. As replaceable as lawn mower parts. But, whoever took over would have to: Work out the keyboard parts, Sing BVs Setup, maintain and operate the P.A Have decent transport Build rehearsal rooms fix cables and pedals Not object to the fooking beatles be able to stick to a diet. So that`s you lot out.
18. New satnav?
19.
Hmm. I'd start her off with something a bit shorter, first.
.
20. Mike just bought my Peavey mixer. Great comms, no fuss, paid straight off. Can`t ask for better than that! Many thanks Mike. MM
21. The What?
22. I`m still favouring the rack version of this as I reckon I can change patches on it via my Boss GT6 and not have two pedals knocking about. I also like the feature that allows you to send an FX aux to it so others can access the delays and verbs etc, but the harmonies stay on the one mic. Looks like TC have it sorted though
