1. I always use a beta52. It sounds great on bass. If I can`t get a 52 I`ll use an AKG D112. Again sounds great. The mid frequencies are NOT all sucked out they are reasonably flat at 0db There is a low end hump and a high end hump, but they are easily rolled off if you don`t like that. The point is that it is capable of capturing low frequencies, unlike other mics which are useful for capturing the high end stuff, and using a D.I to catch the low end. http://www.shure.com/idc/groups/public/documents/webcontent/us_pro_beta52a_specsheet.pdf.pdf http://www.ilikemics.com/product_details.php?pid=216 Both the above charts show flat at 0db with peaks in other areas. Given that subtractive EQ sounds far more natural than additive, I`m happier rolling lows off than adding mids in. IMO& IME Of course. MM
2. Boss VE-20 is popular at the mo and does simple easy to program harmonies and a bit of reverb and delay. The patches are selectable from the two switches but you have to stand on one for 2 secs, select your patch, and stand on it again for two secs. Bit of a faff. The TC Helicon range is great
3. Tres cool
4. Done it, but no longer. Not doing crazy, doing[s] f***[/s] Forget You,.
5. Too far for me.
6. I`m preferring the P with a Jazz neck over the jazz these days, seems lighter, sounds good. Wide strap helps.
7. Not in my opinion no. In bridged mode, you use one side of the stereo amp for the positive side of the balanced signal and the other side for the negative side. Have a read of this for the signal chain http://www.dbxpro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=2136 If you want to retain your two pres just use a 2 into 1 input mixer.
8. Ta Martin. Looks like this has sold subject to etc.
9. Blimey, just told someone to get a grip and you already have! Well done that man!
10. Completely "live"? Edit to say, I don`t actually care how live it is. I personally think it`s harder swinging a click driven song, so kudos.
11. Some more detailed measurements. WIDTH OF CASE 65cm Outer shell. 61cm foam to foam. DEPTH OF CASE (front to back) Outer shell 45cm Foam to foam 41cm HEIGHT Total foam to foam height is Outer shell 62cm Foam to foam 58cm So this case can potentially fit the majority of Ampeg 15" boxes out there, and a good deal of the 210s too,but it would need re-foaming in some instances. 12. I do think "Der Puntas" still enjoy a lot of the more mature odes. But, I reckon they would enjoy alternatives just as much. In my current band, my aim is to balance the set 50/50 with older classics and modern hits.,it`s still 70/30 classics yet. We just had a "bring two songs each by bands from the last ten years" type deal, and got 6 very good, instantly recognisable modern hits. Whether we will starve huddled in a corner of an un-heated rehearsal room through lack of work remains to be seen.
13. Just hoiked Allright now out.No need, turgid rotting hoary old bollocks. Dakota... week 4.." So have you found a patch for the intro Miss keys player" "erm?" ffs Stuck in.. Come up and see me Brown sugar. I mean WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY? Maggie May. Gratuitous use of mandolin I`m a believer. Brown eyed girl. Why are we ALL playing the same sh*te old songs?
14. Get in touch with Catbirds@ http://www.catbirds....r_Weddings.html Or PM me!
15. On your case. It`s gotta go, getting the Gimlet eye from the Mrs.
16. Hey Observer. If you want to run in stereo, then a stereo EQ is better. But for pubs and small bars, Stereo is wasted a lot of the time anyway, as panning stuff tends to mean half the audience get a crap mix as they aren`t in the sweet spot. So your call really. It`s nice having the stereo option but mono is cheaper.
17. Broken finger under a bass bin. Nearly broken leg falling off a stage and using my leg to try to prevent it. Error. No sick days on tour.. Caused a broken tooth and split lip of singer by smacking a double bass into his mic stand... multiple black eyes and head eggs caused by walking into lighting apparatus cunningly designed as nothing. Not too bad really.
18. Nice gig, nice venue.Hope you have fun. If you see a tooth in the backstage toilet area, cold you send it to me please?
19. Hey Silent Fly, apologies for damning your product with casual disdain. You`re right, a crossover doesn`t do what the thumpinator does, and although it could shelve at a decently low frequency, it wouldn`t drop off quickly enough to be as effective as your product. Although I do respect the quality with which this item is produced, I still find it expensive! I suppose once bought lasts a lifetime. I`ll certainly buy one when I have more money than bills! Thanks for directly answering the queries in this thread. Regards, MM
20. No, I reckon not, but i`m thinking we can build something similar with a bit of head scratching and some double sided sticky tape and an old washing up liquid bottle.
