1. Yes, but did you suck it out with the hoover nozzle?
2. Lovely stuff, I`ll watch this again tonight on my main system with a nice vodka or two.
3. There is one of these in the Roadhouse club in Manchester, and it`s served as the in house bass amp for at least 6 years to my knowledge and does a fine job too. Not bad considering it gets at least fifteen bassists a week using it which means 8 hours a week use. Buy it, before I do! MM
4. I`ve spent the last 12 years lifting shifting, wiring and micing up a couple of bands Ampeg 810s and it really is a 2 man job. Depending on the flight case (what, you want the Tolex to shred in a month?)then it can be harder. The usual case for these is a live in case, where the front comes off and the cab stays in the rest, that`s the easy one.It has castors obviously, but makes it bigger to store and heavier to carry. The other case is all lid, which means the cab comes out. Two man job though I can do it on my own with the right balance. I suppose a Roqsolid cover would be the best compromise. Once out you still might not think it high enough. One band I work for doesn`t so it goes on the AC30 flight case laid sideways. This gets the top 2 speakers to ear level. I can do this on my own, but you can hurt yourself if you do it wrong. Then you need to get your amp up there. OK with an LMK II but not ok with an Ampeg SVT II. Another 2 man job. So basically what I`m saying is, if you have a crew, then it`s the best sound ever and gives a nice spread of sound in your zone of the stage. If you don`t have crew, think again, coz you`ll need a good mate and a van and a bungalow and a very forgiving Mrs. As an alternative, have a good look at the 410HLF. I`d say they compare very favourably with the bigger cabs, with the advantage of mobility,(I can lift one on my own and put it on top of a flight case.) Of course, others are aware of this so the price is not so favourable. MM
5. I`ve got a couple of very playable bitsas,a good quality Jap Hohner P copy and a decent Mexican jazz with Nordys. All bought this year for about £700 total. I could see myself going for an American Precision second hand at about the same outlay,as an xmas/b day thing because I`ve always wanted one, but I can`t see the point in spending anything more on a bass that`ll be used in covers bands.
6. Looks like a Yamaha 01v92. Makes a good DAW setup. Lucky man.
7. Rourke took a hit when he settled out of court in his royalties case with Morrissey,(who said in court that he and Joyce were as "replaceable as lawnmower parts". He`s been skint for years. Mike Joyce is doing DJ sets at festivals etc now so I presume he`s skint too. The stuff in question seems to be a cheap pickup rig for later work and nothing to do with the Smiths so I can`t see it having any cachet to any but the ultra faithful.
8. Just a last word for IEMs, as was mentioned the wireless packs have Limiters on them to prevent ear damage and I`ve never had a problem with load drummers and deaf singers. Also, if you want that extra safety you can Mark/tape off your monitor master output. Some people, (and this is more stuff and time) make simple xlr split cables and an 8 way loom and take what channells they want into a small 8 chan desk, which then goes to the IEM pack, so you can do your own mix and it`s safe from meddling. This is very similar to recording studio monitoring setups. Before you go this route though, persevere with the 15s, as if you crack it, you wont need all that crap and you`ll save a couple of hundred £ Good luck!
9. I have a client who wears these while singing, forbids any vocal in the monitor and pitches quite well. I would say for those who need clear monitoring, the ER15s may not be the best choice, and perhaps some in ear monitors at a safe level would provide protection from snares and cymbals etc, while providing clear vocal monitoring. Saves carrying a wedge also. MM
10. Apart from a few villages east of Magdeburg most Germans delight in showing their English language skills, and in an Irish bar where you might expect a high incidence of foreign customers it`s considered essential for the staff. What cities are you going to be doing? I`d just say take care driving, don`t break any stupid laws and park up properly. German Police are not people you want to annoy. If only to avoid wasting time filling in forms etc. I`m not sure if you need an emissions sticker for some cities or not, might be worth checking. Apart from that I can`t see why more bands don`t do the same thing. The German music scene isn`t as tied to fashion as our music scene is and as a result more people listen to a wider range of music imo. Also, I don`t believe they have the repressive entertainments licensing for bars that we do so more pubs are up for it. I`m not sure that avoiding the bigger cities makes sense, because that`s where most of these pubs will be, along with a large contingent of expats who might make up the main part of your audience. A musician i work with has a band called Surfquake (guess the style?) and they did a week of German dates in smaller bars last year. he said he enjoyed it immensely and they made a little money also. Let us know how you get on with bookings etc. please it`s an interesting topic. MM
11. Was sent these, pretty funny. Warning labels Vol I Vol II Vol III
12. Doesn`t immediately suggest a speaker fault, a cable maybe. If your speaker was damaged then it wouldn`t be working fine now. That`s a pretty good speaker also with plenty of power, so I can`t see it overheating. The way it went on the first dong after the break also suggests it wasn`t overheating as it will have cooled down during the break. I`m betting Amplifier. I hope it doesn`t undermine your trust in the cab. MM
13. Hi Rob, it might help if you said where you are in the country.
14. Just traded my hard gator for his Soft Rockbag, excellent deal, very happy, and all done with a minimum of fuss. Thanks Mike.
15. Fair old drive to Munich, you doing it non stop? I`ve driven that way but usually stop around Saarbrucken, you prob have a few drivers though. Much respect for you moving your arses to help. Do you need anything in the way of equipment? MM
16. Story of my life...
17. Not much call for possibly re-finished peanuts. Now Monkeynuts and you get my attention.
18. Hi, there was a Stockport based rock/pop band of over 40s players looking for a bassist for average 2/3 gigs a month on Joinmyband last week, might be worth a look. Edit, just found it. Bass player needed If you search for Johnny Rich, you`ll see all their ads, they are up to part 6! MM
19. Apparently you can diy it with the right tools etc, but I`d just send it to the Choc Doc. You don`t want to take the risk. I f***ed up a pretty good Texan Bar that way.
20. Get a sewing needle, gently stick it in the cap and bend it back to an angle, the pull gently, it`ll pull the dents out.
21. Burger King?
22. Try it through a UPS if you can borrow one. Have you tried it on a different power socket/different room? I`m presuming the gig was louder than the rehearsal vol but you used 2 cabs... Are you absolutely sure it`s not the cab with a loose cable?
23. Lovely idea but..
24. Nice one Dave, that looks well worth the effort getting the rusty bridge off. I really like black body+PG+maple neck. MM
