1. Quality pics of endpin, any decorative marking on the edging, scroll, tuning pegs, fingerboard and if you can, one of what`s left of the label. Might as well get the ball rolling. MM
2. My bump my bump you want to see my bump..
3. I can trundle south for a good trade! Have you a cunning plan?
4. Right, well not as thrilling a topic as I`d hoped then... According to a TB ampeg expert these aren`t 25.6ohms, they are 32ohms, but on the older early 80s range they noted the resistance and not the ohms. This would be 25.6 on a 32ohm driver. Clear as mud eh? So, Lean Business have the right replacement driver: Eminence legend 10"s at 32ohms, but the only wattage is 150watts. Now my Cab rear panel says 250watts, so I`m thinking the original drivers must be 60 or 65 watts each? Does that sound right? So, will I have any problems with excursion etc by loading the cab with 600 watts of driver? MM
5. Happy Daze!
6. A live band that size means two things. A large GOOD sounding room and some tasty mics. All the pinging machines can be bought and used at home nowadays, but a good live room and the right quality mics are still the domain of a decent studio. Good engineer helps, obviously, recent work done there should show what they are capable of. Not many studios will be able to cater for recording up to 16 tracks at once so that will narrow it down a bit. Having said that, you probably won`t record everything to it`s individual track, there will probably be a few stereo groups of percussion etc, but you still need a good amount of quality mics. If you are recording a live performance with no overdubs then monitoring becomes irrelevant so no headphone problems. Same with processing, you probably won`t be gating anything, but you will need to compress a few things. Interesting job I reckon. You`ll probably spend the lions share of the day getting comfortable and getting the right mics in the right place to catch the right dynamic. After that it will be down to your performance. Ask to see a mic list and how they would tackle the job, BEFORE you give it to them. Good luck!
7. have a Boosh instead of a bump.
8. The only way is up. Baby.
9. I`ll have one of the good ones! Been putting off doing this mod to my "project" bass. MM
10. If this falls through, i`ll have it. MM
11. Yes. Rubber beer mats. The long 40cm by 10 cm strip ones. They`re about a centimetre thick so should clear your handle. Or, a square of flightcase lining foam, the stiffer type, cut to the profile of your cab, but with a handle shaped hole cut out! Available on ebay. I also use camping mat which is cheap as chips at £stretcher, and camping/car non slip rubber sheet, to avoid slippage. Also at £stretcher. This stuff is also great for keeping things on top of your cab also, like phones, netbooks, recorders etc. Both of the above are also great to protect stuff in transit as packing. MM
12. I have a this amp head surplus to requirements. Was going to use it as a home/rehearsal amp but my new LMII is light enough to stick in a backpack so I don`t need it any more. It sounds suprisingly loud and with a bit of EQ, nice warm tones can be had. The input has a pad switch to accommodate Active or Passive levels EQ section is pretty good with pots for: Bass Treble 62.5Hz 250Hz 500Hz 2KHz There is an inbuilt compressor with an on off switch and threshold pot. Lastly, there are line and d.i out on the front, both on 1/4 jack sockets. To the rear there are two speaker outs on 1/4 jack, rated at 4 to 16ohms. Carry handle on the top. I haven`t weighed this but it`s actually very light and I suspect the amp enclosure has more to do with 90s styling than a need for space. So. This would make a great backup amp, or a decent amp to leave in the rehearsal room. It`s pretty light, pretty loud, looks great. I`m looking for £80 or thereabouts, or trade w.h.y. This torque was cheap and has definitely left the building. I thank you. MM
13. Hello. Could you post some pics please so we can see what you have? Thanks. MM
14. Ta for the reply, I hoped they were switchable in 2sSo that`s cool. Pretty useful. Anything need fixing, ie scratchypots or faders? Ta, MM
15. I have to say, if you often get squashed into dairlea sized stages with your 8 piece, then maybe another box on stage isn`t the best idea? Could consider In ear monitoring, I know a couple of others have gone that route. Just a thought. MM
16. Bought a Little Mark II off Russ and it arrived 2 days later beautifully packed and in excellent condition. Very safe hands. Thanks, MM
17.
Thanks Lawrence. I'm tempted to say 'leave him, he's not worth it'. For anyone following this I'd say that mixing speakers is a bit like blending drinks. If you mix Cabernet and Merlot then you will lose some of the character of each. You get some mid range smoothing, but some people like Cabernet/Merlot. Cheers
I believe that for purists, some of the liberties us hobbyists take with acoustics and physics must be a little wearing, BUT it`s fun. Just like drinking Merlot AND Cabernet. I mix my cabs, but it`s just a phase I`m going through..
18.
Just get the 410 and tell her it's a 112. Will she really know the difference?
Quite possibly genius.
19. Lo all. I just scored one of the above on ebay, but I need to recone or replace a couple of drivers. I can`t seem to find any decent info on these, as I keep getting SVT HE or HLF info. I can find 810Es,but not 410Es. This cab has no horn, is 250 watts into 8ohm and has four 26.5 ohm drivers.(!) Anyone have any info or links they`d care to share? Ta, MM
20. I`m liking the "vertical takes less space" argument." Very Hong Kong logic. Wayne is that a pic of your Ampeg gubbins? What`s on the bottom?
21. Hi. am interested in the 206 What are the pre/post switching options on the auxes,is it possible to route 4 of them pre fade? ta.
