1. No I used one of Nicks Soviet paper in oil jobs. Sounds great.
2. OK, but I wasn`t intending fitting a series switch, that was the OP. If there was no complications from a switch would the two tone thing work? EG: Master Vol/Blend/Tone neck/ Tone Bridge. Are there any basses set up like this? Apologies to OP for the hi-jack, am hoping this is all relevant to him too. MM
3. Ah but... with a blend you won`t need two vols.. so you could have two tones. No?
4. Tried the candles on the GF when she blocked an ear. Save your cash, total farce.
5. I`m going to give it a try, although the series switch wasn`t in my plans. I quite like the look of that diagram as it has tone pots for both pickups, that makes loads of sense to me, being able to roll the front pickup tone off but keep the bridge open or vice versa. That sort of makes the blend a giant tone control. Does mean sticking the input socket on the arse though which I`dont mind on the bitsa, but not the MIM.
6.
I Haven't seen one of these before though. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vox-Through-neck-fre...=item4cf74ea0a4
This is how the through neck Vox bass would have looked before the mindless tard chopped it into arse shaped firewood. Shame they even ruined the neck, would have made a nice project.
7.
Is it ok to dislike them both equally?
+10. Hugleeee. Soz.
8. What the hell for, a door stop? That there thing is hugleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
9. Willis Nice DB
10. As has been said by a previous poster, for me, it was about the sound I grew up with, and the basses used on the music I heard. There were no Wals overwaters Status Yamaha Aria Gibson(I think) basses on all those massive motown tunes. Just Fender. Same again for Cochrane and Elvis If the doors had employed a bassist I bet he would have used a Jazz! Sid Vicious used a Fender P, very iconic. he would have looked a right pansy with a Warwick. Ditto The Clash. An exception is Joy Division who used a Shergold (I think) because Hooky couldn`t afford a bloody Fender! Lets hurry on past The Jam who were obviously bribed to use Ricketsbashers Admit it, Fender...they`re bloody good basses.
11. These events are quite obviously money raisers for whomever is promoting it. Whether tickets or beer. But..I think there is a certain amount of naivety regarding the intention of the Music Business/Industry. "music is not about making money"? Maybe not for the poster of that comment, but as the title suggests, the Business/Industry believe that it`s ONLY about making money. No business is about making anything else. Can anyone think of any reason for anyone to put on a gig that won`t make money? I think it`s time some of the younger players realised that their band is a small business. If they don`t intend to make money then it`s a hobby. If it`s a hobby, why complain about not making money? I`m not cynical, just realistic. MM
12. P.J Harvey "Let England shake"
13. Thanks for the replies. Alphas it is. I`ll try it on Mik and if it works out, repeat on Mim
14. Individual prices also Partic the fourby.
15. I stopped playing when i became a parent also. No matter, you are interested again and that`s all that matters. Take it easy, find a couple of basslines you really enjoy and learn them. I`d also go with the 1 finger 1 fret. When you think you have a degree of control over the instrument again, stretch yourself a bit, find some harder lines/songs to learn. Youtube is your friend here. Loads of instruction. If you aren`t enjoying it, don`t do it. Simple. Good luck MM
16. Lo all, I would like to change my contol setup to Vol/blend/tone on my two jazz basses and have researched it a fair bit and come up with , A/ Bourns 500k from Allparts Or B/Alpha 500k from AxesRus The chatter online is Bourns, but they are out of stock at the mo. Is the difference worth waiting for ? Also, the vibe seems to be to earth the pickups somewhere other then the lugs on the blend pot to give an "unloaded" series type earthing when blending. Apparently it "pans" smoother between pickups. Any experience of this? Anyone gone Vol/ blend/tone and hating it? Ta in advance. MM
17. Maplins do a wide Velcro perfect for pedals and a light application of white spirit thinners on a cloth will ease the removal of same from the pedal later. Most buyers would probably be using Velcro themselves anyway. MM
18. Oh well, ta for the reply. I`ll crack on today and give it a couple of hours. Wouldn`t pursue it except a TBer posted about it with a soundclip, and it could be a very useful effect. I`ll post if it works out. MM
19. Try a realistic (if you can get one) PZM and blue tack it to a wall. Good results.
20. heh, I think we cross posted. Try the attenuators on the back of the unit, you may have them set at-20. Try -10 if so, should make a big diff to the input level. I really can`t see there being a prob but you could for instance, use a preamp to boost the signal, from your line out to the input of the unit. MM
21. Agreed, it will be happy with line level signals. There should be a reasonable amount of gain control as well so you can tweak to suit. If you have a link to the manual I`d be happy to have a quick look, but I`ve been feeeding my akg iem system from the line out AND/or the d.i out on my ashdown, and sometimes the out from my Boss GT6B with no problems. MM Out of interest, what did the AT unit cost? Just reading the manual now, and the rear inputs have an individual -1- and -10 pad on them to help match your input source. "Adjust attenuator on rear panel of M2T Stereo Transmitter to appropriate level. (See page 5.) 9. Adjust trim level on front panel of M2T Stereo Transmitter, if needed. (See page 8.)" I`m presuming "Personal Mixer" mode so you can take a feed from an aux on your P.A desk and a feed from your Bass from a D.I/Line out? pedal out etc, whatever gives you the best tone in your ears I suppose. And blend the two at the beltpack. There is a minijack unput on the beltpack too for adding an external source like clik or practice recordings etc, might be quite useful.
22. They did burn him you know..
