That`ll be a no then.

That`s not my experience of this amp, perhaps your valve was on the way out (I replaced mine and was rewarded with an increase in db), or your guitarists are too loud.. Either way, it sounds like you had a bad`un. MM

I can heartily recomend the Ashdown ABM500, I`m really starting to be impressed with it. Stick a bit of compression on via a pedal and it sounds massive.

NS Wav stand failure... WITH POSITIVE OUTCOME! :)

That looks like a cast alloy! No wonder it snapped, bit brittle. Shame about your gig. -
lo all, just organising me new pedal and getting my had round the logic. What I particularly want to do is control the synth Frequency filter with the Expression pedal. I need that swept synth sound for a couple of Goldfrapp covers. I know it can be done on this unit, I`ve just listened to a track with it being done, but the poster didn`t explain how.. I have tried routing the Ex pedal to the Frequency parameter, but I cant seem to get it to connect. Anyone with a quick idiots how to? Ta. MM

EQ Push switch for Ashdown Mag 400

They usually send out the bulbs for the VU free, and seem friendly types, so yes, iether send you one or charge a small fee. Will you fit it yourself? My understanding is it`s mounted directly to the front board and may be a bit fiddly for keen enthusiasts. -
PA / Mixing desk - must be lightweight

Sorry, no. I just don`t trust/like powered mixers. All yer eggs in one woodchip basket. -
I`ve bought a few things here in the relatively short time I`ve been a member and instantly appreciated the way that when you`re looking to buy here you get peer reviews and endorsements of various kit that`s immensely helpful. Also, as a buyer you know that the reputation of the seller is regarded as a precious thing, not to be squandered by mucking anyone about. The result is a high level of respect on both sides usually leading to a good deal being made. I also think that the feeling generally is, "everybody here knows what this is worth" so there`s no point trying to maximise profits at the expense of the regard of the community. eBay is the wild wild west compared, but still a lot of honest folk use it. If you want more than two band EQ and a couple of aux outs, I`d def go for the Spirit SX range, they do a few input sizes. They have a swept mid +high and low EQ and 3 aux outs, two of which can be sent pre-fade for monitors. Of course, they aren`t powered, but a good 3 to 400 watts a side amp wont cost the earth and has the advantage of being able to upgrade/fix/borrow etc if anything breaks. The behringers have good spec and for all the critics, don`t sound that bad in a live situation, great price obviously, just check online reviews for reliability, behringers great curse. -
So.. I`ve decided not to fit a new neck to the Squier Jazz, partly because a new neck would be costly, but mostly because the original neck is an 89 Samick Korean and feels lovely. My first problem was a stripped truss rod nut, which I`ve managed to extract after grinding down a 5.5mm allen key to fit. The nut is smooth on the inside and has a crack on the lip so I think for it ze vor is owfer. So, Allparts do nuts for under a tenner but I need to know if they`ll fit the Korean. Has anyone any knowledge or advise about how I might determine what size to buy? Is there a recognized way to measure the old nut? If there is a sticky with this stuff in, apologies, I must have missed it. Ta, Dave.

Def more thump. I think the increased tension makes the strings sound entirely different. I`ve been trying to lower the relief on my Korean, as it`s playable but tiring, though the sound is excellent! So much so that I raised the action on my Mexican a little to get a bit of that on both guitars. It almost sounds slightly compressed, which I suppose the string vibrations are at a higher tension.

I played in trios for the first 10 years of my bass playing life, mainly in rockabilly/rock n roll setups, which mad me overly busy and bored of simple bass lines. It took me the next 10 years to realise the less I played the better it sounded. So, I`m an air bassist now! Meaning, the gaps are definitely as important as the notes, and I love hearing the hats or a kick come through those gaps in a properly thought out rhythmical arrangement.

Looking for a pair of monitor headphones
Monckyman replied to Mornats's topic in Accessories and Misc
Yes, they were better, a much nicer handling of the bass frequencies but I still found that they distorted at the low end when put through a 30 watt Laney RB2 (the amp they had in the shop). My sennheiser gaming headset seems to cope with my 15 watt Laney RB1 so I decided to hold off. I think perhaps that it's asking a bit much to get them to handle bass straight from an amp. I'm falling back on using my Tannoy E11 speakers that I've had for around 20 years as monitors (put through a Rotel RA-930AX amp via my PC).
I`m happy with the Sennheiser 280s, great accoustic seperation. You might want to check what Ohmage your headphone output is rated at, most of the Beyer/Sennheisers have quite high impedance.(the 280s are 64Ohm) which may limit the available overall level. -
Bought a pair of Nordstrand NJ4SVs from Howard this weekend for a very reasonable price and they arrived very rapidly. They also sound fantastic. Thanks Howard.
