1. PRICE DROP - NOW £449 !!! In time for Xmas, including all the extras previously mentioned. I have to agree with adledman about how good these basses are. And at this price - tasty or what?
2. Anyone else tried the old high-end Soundgear bass guitars?
3. Firefox 7.0.1 just installed itself automatically (with my permission) and the lack of "use full editor" problem is still there.
Must be a Firefox for Windows problem.
- sums it up. The work-around on my 6 year old XP PC is to use IE8, which is a little inconvenient for the extra time it takes. Musn't complain though as Basschat is still the best.
4. Trying a different web browser (IE8) on the same PC works. It seems there is a compatibility issue between the site and some versions of Firefox, or at least with the current release version 6.0.2. Thanks for helping to find a work-around.
5. Great instructions - thanks. There is a snag though when I try to "use full editor". This button and the "cancel" button do not work. Only the "save changes" button does anything like it says on the tin. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the site or because I am using Firefox 6.0.2, or if its simply because I'm metamorphosing into a zombie. The full editor obviously works for you, BigRedX, so I fear the zombie theory is looking the most likely. Apart from acquiring a new brain, is there anything else I should do to solve the issue?
6. Thanks BigRedX. I honestly did search but could not find out how to do this. For the benefit of newbies (like me) please tell me how to change the tags after a topic is started.
7. Great website, but one thing I miss from the old site is the topic sub-titles or strap-lines or whatever they are supposed to be called. This feature enabled you to add new information to your thread title, such as "price drops" in the market place. Sadly this really useful feature is gone. In its place I notice posters using Topic Tags as sub-titles, as opposed to the intended purpose of tags which is to help with searching. And why not? I don't have a problem with (ab?)using tags in this way, but it would be really useful for the thread starter to be able to update the tags after the thread has been started. So the question is ... (see topic title). Possibly my issue is with a thread started on the old site. Can tags be changed after posting?
8. PRICE DROP to £475 That's less than half the price brand new 18 years ago, with strings and hardcase into the bargain!!! Selling to fund a mid-life crisis in the form of a Stingray 5, having foolishly fallen in love with the Stingray sound. I'm still smitten, but beginning to feel guilty about parting with a dependable old friend.
9. I'll even throw in a brand-new set DR Hi-Beam strings (MR5-45) 45-65-85-105-125, which are the same type and gauge as those on the bass.
10. Edited OP to add details of controls, remove personal opinion of K5, add carrier info, and generally improve the description.
11. Bump to add Weight (on bathroom scales): 10lb, around four and a half kilos.
12. I'm selling my Ibanez Soundgear SR1305-PD 5-string bass guitar, which I bought new in 1993. This is a solid instrument made in Japan using high quality woods. She's been lovingly maintained in good condition. Over the years she's accumulated one or two small dinks at the bridge end near the strap anchor, some thumb wear around the B-string side of the neck pickup, and a chip on the edge of the headstock (see photos). There's no buckle rash and as you can see in the photos, the condition is generally good and clean. The low B plays deep and clear thanks to the Padauk body that gives a solidly defined low-end and a clear, resonant high-end. The 5-piece Bubinga/Wenge neck provides excellent tuning stability with flawless intonation right up to the 24th fret on all strings. Once new strings have bedded in it hardly ever needs re-tuning. As currently strung with a set of DR High-Beams, with standard B-E-A-D-G tuning, the height at the 12th fret is 2.0mm on the G and 2.5mm on the low B. The low string height combined with 17mm string spacing and the slimmest neck I've ever seen makes this bass play fast and solid - ideally suited to finger-style or pick. This neck feels great. The active EQ has a bass boost/cut control and treble boost/cut stacked on one dual-concentric knob, while the sweepable mid frequency control and boost/cut are stacked on a second dual-concentric knob. The neutral positions of the cut/boost controls are detented so you know where you are. A wide range of tones are possible from this system. The pair of J-style humbucking active pickups can be blended using the balance control, adding even more tonal possibilities. Specs: Scale length: 34" Frets: 24 String spacing at bridge: 17mm Width at the nut: 45mm Width at the 24th fret: 67mm Fingerboard radius: 305mm Neck thickness at 1st fret: 19.5mm Neck thickness at 12th fret: 21.5mm Body wood: Padauk Neck woods: 5 piece Bubinga /Wenge Fingerboard wood: Wenge Inlay: Pearl Dot on fingerboard and edge Bridge: Gotoh 5-String Tuners: Gotoh Hardware colour: Cosmo Black Neck Pickup: Ibanez IBZ AFR-J5N active Bridge Pickup: Ibanez IBZ AFR-J5B active Controls: Volume, Pickup balance, 3 band active EQ with Vari -mid The weight measured on my bathroom scales is 10lb. This high quality instrument retailed around £1000 in 1993. Ibanez discontinued the solid padauk body in 1994, replacing it with a mahogany-padauk sandwich, so this padauk-only version is fairly rare. The model was discontinued in 1996. Later, Ibanez appear to have based the K5 on the 1994 SR1305. By comparison, the K5 has a mahogany body and a maple/bubinga neck with rosewood fingerboard, which are less expensive woods. I'm selling due to G.A.S and I'm looking for [s]£499[/s] £449. Moulded hard case and a brand new spare set of strings included. I can send by carrier for I'd guess around £20 to £30, or you can try before you buy if you collect from Bristol.
