  1. I think around 4.2ish but I'll confirm with digital scale soon and update the advert! cheers, Robert
  2. Not good for the money just properly good. String with Ernie ball group 3 flats, nicely settled in and thumpy. I don't want to sell this because its incredible but you can see I have no space on the 10 rack... and she's actually getting annoyed with how many basses I have - so ill use the money to buy a pedal because I can hide that in a draw or something. Picked this up to practise Fret bevelling and levelling - turned out the frets were perfectly seated and level and didn't need it (which weirdly disappointed me because I was looking forward to doing that). I used a Chris Alsop Tools bevel file 45 degree angle - to make the edges ultra smooth. (which I did to all of my basses subsequently). it just means that the fret edges are nearly invisible feeling when navigating the neck. Same treatment as the 00's music man instruments and some vintage fenders. IYKYK!!! Specs are online. The neck feels like the 70s fat one... Ive added a bass wood full contact shim in the neck pocket - don't be afraid - that's just so you can slam the action if you like... the goth saddles are a bit larder than the usual fender size. I have the Gotoh tuner cap... ill pop it back on thanks! Rob collection in Edinburgh
  3. Also on eBay but cheaper here for BC people. AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ Used for a year - is great condition only used in home studio. These are wireless low latency headphones for studio use. Comes with the transmitter which you connect to your source which is also battery powered. If you're experiencing a clipping sound on your TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ headphones, follow these steps to resolve the issue: The X01 transmitter can handle a maximum input of 3.5V(peak). Exceeding this limit will cause the signal to distort and result in clipping. So be careful as the clipping noise can be quite loud. If you want to use these at really high volumes use with the cable. I never had an issue with them for studio use. But I wanted to let you know ! Cheers!
  4. I also just got a few sets of these exact strings. normally use elixir nickel light or super light. found them to be quite expressive and responsive due to the round core (I think) compared to the elixirs using them on a p bass + and a jazz if the different kind of coating works almost as good as the elixirs I may be a convert - but will have to live with a bit to see how long it takes for them to die. they’re on Amazon for £26 which is pretty cheap which gave me the nudge to try them - I just hope they stay that price ha!
  5. Stock bridge back on. Does look a lot more normal now. Cheers!
  6. Quite rare and special Jazz bass. i'm not using it enough to justify its value and rarity. Meticulous fret level job done by Chris McIntyre (Sie bass, etc) so the action can be insanely low if you want... I got him to also bevel the ends of the frets so the fingerboard feels 'invisible' which is important considering the tall vintage frets are normally a bit bumpy on the treble side. Has a small body notch so you can adjust the vintage style truss rod WITHOUT removing the neck! Just taking off the scratch plate. Comes with original Mint condition tweed fender hard case with the commemorative fender anniversary embroidery + All the case candy and certificates etc, and covers. Currently fitted with Babicz bridge - will be sold with just the original - can leave it on for an extra charge. It's not needed to be a good instrument but I really enjoy how easy it is to adjust and stay put This has never left the house. And is almost mint! It is NITRO lacquer!!! so... there's a few small mini dings shown in pictures this is just from studio use, it is a very fragile finish; minor checking on headstock near the machine head, won't show in photos and only visible with reading glasses on lol but want to be transparent. it can either be a case queen for ever or someone please give a good hard life and get some mojo! . no gigs. not even a rehearsal. So this bass is pretty much new still, it's not really lived yet. Studio use only. Will hold and climb in value. Sounds a lot different to my STD jazz USA which i'm sure is down to the pickups, its has a much higher dynamic range (that's not good nor bad) a bit more of a sweeter fat low end, moderate mids and glassy highs when both PUs on. Bridge is very... Jaco. Neck PU solo'd - is my fave. Very good recording tone. ***Ill find out the exact wight but I think its around 4.2kg*** Edinburgh Potential trades: value of £1500 aprox. Modern Jazz style, Steamers, maybe Specter... modern 4 string basses with flat necks etc.
  7. Great condition for age, trans red 3eq stingray in maple. Clean electronics, clean straight neck with responsive truss rod. Lovely smooth fret ends and oil finish neck... usual stingray stuff. Comes with the original hard shell case. Apart from some small dings shown in photos - it's in amazing shape. New black pick guard screws and official MusicMan pickup screws fitted, looks cleaner. Old ones included. looks to me like a two piece body - with the join happening on the lower horn. The grain in the middle looks lovely under the finish. Weight is 4.7kg with no neck dive. Very much has a resonant peak around E, so a great slapper... (im a Stingray nerd and had many; and this did jump out to me) Sensible offers considered; nothing outrageous though haha, no rush to sell. Selling for 20% lower than paid for - as that was from a shop. Potential trades: Bongo, nice USA sterling with sensible finish, nice Warwick (equivalent value or higher) or potentially something modern. 4 string. I can provide extra cash if needed. Location is EH111RF
  8. And here’s a new compilations of my other BBp34 using roundwound My project (35).mp4 strings just for context as I know flats aren’t for everyone 1st is Ernie ball colbalts (heavy) 2 DR sunbeams 3 elixir ultra lights.
  9. The one before is with Ernie ball group 3 flats. this one with Jazz Flats. My project (35).mp4
  10. My project (35).mp4 Some sound samples with the bass with flats on
  11. Hey guys! weighed on my cheapo middle-of-discount super market- luggage scales and the readings are from 3.7kg to 3.9kg so really just average but lighter than my fender jazz basses and old stingray.
  12. Hey, Yes thanks @Munurmunuh posting specs. it’s a modernised profile compared to the older BB’s apparently also yeah Vincent Garcia absolutely smashing it on his BBp34 😀
  13. YAMAHA BBP34 MIDNIGHT BLUE PRO SERIES MADE IN JAPAN - TRADES I got a BBP34 this year and was so impressed I ended up buying two ( I do prefer the sunburst though only slightly ) - one for flats one for wounds. I will always have one in the stable as I believe they are the one of the finest traditional sounding basses ive played but having two is maybe a bit excessive. Used it only for studio work; no dents on the body some signs of use though and a small nick on headstock (pictured) perfectly balanced with I.R.A. treated wood. build quality is second to none and overall precision is next or higher than Fender custom shop/ new special musicman etc which you can see when you closely inspect it. These have a really hefty retail; and don't come up for sale much. dual action truss rod that is really easy to dial in and makes achieving perfect flatness with no fuss (used labella heavy and ultralights elixirs on this and setting the neck was insanely easy and quick) So i'm considering letting this go in favour for a trade and see if there's anything out there to expand the collection. Trades: of equal or higher value (I have cash to add if needed) show me what you got, wouldn't mind something modern, fretless or even a bit wacky. Comes with the premium Yamaha mega case and with all manuals, ownership certificate and tools et. IMG_8784.psd
  14. It was measured at 3.8kg when I got it and I’ll confirm this later with my own scales - it’s my second lightest bass out of 10 the only thing I’ve ever had as light is my Cort GB modern but that’s made from paulownia .
  15. Got this not too long ago - used only in studio for recording in comfort. As new. No dents. No scratches. Case queen. Super lightweight for a stingray. Mint case and all candy. Still smells new 😄 Nowt wrong with it - just reaching for my 02 old stingray more. Putting this out there to see if anyone wants a trade for a stingray 5 or maybe a classic. paid £1900 on wills site + added 100 for a fret stone and dress from Chris mcentyer (sei bass, who’s now in Edinburgh, used to be London based and is a renowned luthier) which means you can slam the action down to as low as the saddle will let you. I promise. price is a guide as id rather trade. But I think it’s fair. I think. I have two stingrays (a 2002 which I prefer) as you may know these are technically superior to the pre special stingrays. Extremely light, a much more refined pre, and roasted neck with perfect balance, SS frets the list goes on. hoping if anyone have an older stingray 5 to trade. Cash adjustment depending on condition etc. ideally after one of the 00’s builds (the ones with the tapered fret ends - if you know you know) using wills photos at the moment but I’ll get my own stunning photography up later lol. gimme a shout for more details. Come over for a tea and neerd out gear session I have years of feedback on BC. all the best guys!
  16. Have photos of the neck pocket and body so confirmed as a transition bass which is cool. So I’ll go and pick this up in the week if someone else doesn’t beat me to it! Thanks for the help guys
  17. thanks man will do! I’m genna head over to his and take a look. he’s never taken the neck off… so can’t confirm the date. I might see if he’s willing to let me do that… I found this sold on will’s site which essentially looks very similar with the white covers. which is reassuring. again thank you for the knowledge and advice. https://bassbros.co.uk/sold-basses/1981-fender-precision-bass/
  18. Wow thank you so much for the wisdom coming in fast from you guys here. Highly appreciated the guys seems genuine with no pressure. He’s fairly local so I can see it before dropping the money. and I’m really sorry I think I’ve posted this thread in the wrong place - apologies mods!
  19. https://www.facebook.com/share/eBoGa5vDJXRSW6Cu/?mibextid=79PoIi was thinking of pulling the trigger on this - anyone know what to look out for buying a vintage p bass like this? I think the price is quite low cheers!
  20. I used to have one of these sold mine over 13 years ago i think- same finish with a tort guard seen it pop up on ebay since.. bass direct had another which sold for 450 few months ago. was a decent build quality but rather heavy. ultra thin neck if i remember rightly Could never find any info on these they are quite a mystery...
