1. Forgot to add, collection from Southport is preferable but we're travelling quite a lot over the next two months so a meet up or possible delivery could be considered.
2.
Tony is one of my favourite players, I bet that was a bass with some magic in it...
Yeah, I loved it, but traded it against a Yamaha BB1100S (got giddy cos it was active). Loved both those basses actually, wish I still had them both. The SB-R80 wasn't Tony's main bass obviously, but I did used to have a photo in a bass mag of him playing it.
3. I had a cherry SB-R80 in the 80s and loved it. It's previous owner was Tony Butler of Big Country. Still want to whack myself every now and again for selling it.
4. Our guitarist is selling his complete Hiwatt rig, comprising of an original partridge Custom 100 Head and new 4 x 12" speaker cabinet. Both the amp and cab are fully flightcased (made by R J Flytes) and are included in the sale. This IS NOT a new amp head - the amp casing is new, but the amplifier itself inside is an old classic. It is an original "Partridge" transformer chassis which he had put into a new housing by Hiwatt themselves in Doncaster. In other words, the outer casing is new, but the blood and guts of it is an original Hiwatt that you don't see on music shopfloors. The amp was dated at the Hiwatt factory from the serial number as being built in 1971. It also had a full Hiwatt service and a new set of JJ/Tesla tubes installed. He purchased the 4 x 12" cab directly from them when he had the head rehoused. This was made to order (not sat in a shop for months) and loaded with Fane speakers. 300W/16 Ohm. The service work, along with the new cab, was approximately 12-18 months ago at most (my estimate, but I'll confirm ASAP). It's been fully flightcased from new so it is in perfect condition. This is a serious guitar rig. A very loud amp with massive clear headroom, and a piece of guitar amp history, therefore [s]offers in the region of £2500[/s] [s]£1600 CASH - NEEDS TO SELL URGENTLY[/s] ***NEW PRICE - £1200 OR WILL SELL SEPARATELY (AMP £650 - CAB £600)*** - NEEDS TO SELL URGENTLY He lives in Southport in case anyone wants to try it first. PM me with any questions or for more details.
5. Being the previous owner of Rasta's lake placid blue JO5, I think there's every chance that if it'd been a natural one I would still own it. I just didn't really get on with the finish (strange how a colour can turn you off a bass despite the sound) and I'm a sucker for naturals (like my Marcus Miller and Stingray). Great sounding basses.
6.
Cor blimey that's dated badly.

This is BAD! (I hope you make an appearance soon.. it'll justify the pain)

I can't take any more... I've got to go to bed. Sorry!
I did warn you A thread that starts with "Oh dear" and then mentions "low budget TV" pretty much gives you an idea. I've watched a couple of them myself and I find it rather painful to watch. Not one of my finest hours. Saying that, it was a laugh doing it at the time. Highlights for me were playing with Roy Wood when they had him on as a guest once. Brian Conley also sang with us (Noddy was doing The Grimleys with him at the time). We also had an end of series party in Granada's bar, so we set our gear up and had "Uncle Peter" (woof, bark, donkey) playing drums and Fish (Marillion) singing.
Was clint boon still in the carpets then? what were him and noddy like.
Yeah, they were both good. Clint wasn't with the Inspirals then, he was looking at doing some solo stuff I think. He was a top bloke, really down to earth. Very much just a local lad that had done well with his music, but certainly no aloofness about him. Noddy was sound, and took great pleasure in taking the p1ss on a regular basis. All in all, that series was really rough. GSB (Granada Sky Broadcasting) was in its very early days, and that show was done on a very low budget (hence why most of the guests were local comedians, etc. rather than "named" guests). After the presenter, Mike Sweeney, got a job on Capital Radio, Noddy Holder took over and it becames "Noddy's Electric Ladyland". Due to him being who he was, he was able to attract more famous ex-celebs to take part. To be honest, by the time that series had finished, it became very tiresome and we stopped doing it. Still something to look back on though (however rough).
7.
Booger, we don't have Sky
I think you're the lucky one
8. If anyone fancies taking the p1ss out of me.....feel free. I did some low budget TV 12 years ago on the "Men & Motors" channel. It was Granada's birth of a Sky channel. The programme was called "Elvis Has Just Left The Building" and was music quiz programme, and we were the house band. I've found out they're re-running it on Sky. It's on at 11.10pm tonight and another two episodes follow it. I think it's Sky channel 178. Looking back on it, we were shocking! But at least I was a lot slimmer
9. I've made a point never to do any football related songs. Not worth the hassle. You know, the usual suspects, "We Are The Champions", "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Take Me Home Country Roads". I played a wedding last year where the DJ ended the night with "You'll Never Walk Alone" (as he does at every wedding, apparently). What he didn't realise was the entire wedding party (bride, groom, parents, siblings, etc.) were all Everton fans. That closed the night abruptly. They were not happy campers.
10.
Cheers for that Ian. Indeed, here's the bass itself in a video on Youtube, recorded in Dingwalls in London last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSBYdYtd0pw...ated&fmt=18
Nice one, really enjoyed that. Good luck with the sale. Pete.
11. Sold a scratchplate to Nick, and no problems whatsoever. Happy to do business. Cheers Nick. Pete.
12. Can't believe this is still here. If I had the cash, I'd snap your arm off.
13. Alright fella......from another Manc. Welcome aboard.
14.
And he's in the wrong forum. try the Basses for sale section
Oh aye. Never realised, just refreshed "View New Posts" and read the thread from there.
15. Found it amusing that Turnkey's website has the RRP of £549 crossed out with a sale price of £549 above it. What kind of sales policy is that? Good luck with the sale.
16. I remember seeing him at the Manchester University Students Union years ago and stood about 20 feet away from him. When the band struck up the first track and Marcus' bass kicked in it just blew me away. One of those truly "lump in my throat" emotional times I've had with music.
17. I'll be there again this year. Nathan East......very nice. Looking like another great show already.
If anyone is travelling and staying over go to the hotels section on the site, gives you a list of all the hotels in the area.
If anyone does want to stay over, give me a shout. My wife owns a "serviced apartments" business in the centre of Manchester. Get an apartment for the same price or less as a standard city centre hotel room. I'm sure I can get some "mates rates" sorted out. Cheers, Pete.
18. Jake, Feel free to spout off. Any advice you can give would be good at this stage I would imagine. It may help people going off in the wrong direction.
19. Did you put the JE pre in the Marcus or was it in when you bought it? If the former.....what difference did you notice in tone, etc?
20. Do you have a ballpark figure in mind? Offers in the region of......?
21.
Yep, white pearloid scratchplate for the DJ4 is on the list
I used to have a white pearloid on the JO5 I used to have. Looks the canine's danglies with that.
22. Yeah, I've seen it done before. It was done with rack rails (that are generally used in IT for servers, etc.). That way, if needed, you can slide out your pedal board to make any necessary adjustments. You'll find the appropriate stuff by googling it.
23.
Yeah, I did not even know you could get coloured string. This is Happy Jack's old bass and he introduced me to the strings. I am going to try and get some red ones for the Duck Dunn if thats possible
Good job it's not 3 tone sunburst then
24. The blue strings on the DJ really make it stand out.
25. Gooooood evening Madaaaam
