1. Steve, you're right....that DJ's a beaut. Well done that man! Oh, and +1 for a white pearl plate (which is what my JO had on it).
  2.
I thought I recognised him, I remeber him from A1 back in the mists of time, he was a really nice guy who was always friendly and a bit of a character. He could play like that 15+ years ago.
Don't want to sound like an old fart, but he could play like that 25 years ago!
  3. This has been advertised at completely the wrong time..........when I've no cash spare whatsoever!!!!! Damn you
  4.
.....if this is an endorsement vid.....
Being the guy who started "the other thread" about this video of Nigel (and bear in mind I'd had a few beers so was maybe over exuberant)....I'd just like to clarify a couple of points. It was recorded at The Bass Day in Manchester 2007. It was in no way, shape or form, an "endorsement vid". It was simply Nigel sitting down at someone else's stall, bass in hand, having a bit of fun. Someone chose to video it, and put it on YouTube. Not Nigel, not his employers, not his endorsers.......a punter. I've known Nigel for many years since he worked in A1, although I don't see him often, but I can vouch for him being an excellent bassist. I saw him in Dare, which certainly wasn't a slaptastic w*nkfest. Like some have said, you cannot judge an entire repertoire of someone purely on a couple of minutes on YouTube. I've just this week discussed the same argument with my 14 year old niece that "4000" raised. Just because she dislikes something I like, why is it crap? Fine, if someone wants to discuss the merits and pitfalls of something, then do so, but for God's sake do it in the style of adults, not pre-pubescent teenagers.
  5.
...and another one. Not the Jackson's greatest song but what a sweet bassline
One of my favourite bass lines of all time. In the "Standing in the shadows" book, it says that apart from the opening few bars, no other bar is repeated throughout the song. Incredible.
  6. Bought a Pocket Rock-It from David. Great communication, excellently packaged, speedy delivery, and very happy with the gizmo. What more can I say? Thanks David, it was a pleasure. All the best, Pete.
  7. Just a bump for Steve to tell you all that he bought my old Ampeg SVT at the beginning of the year and was a pleasure to deal with, and we've kept in touch since. Steve's a great bloke. If anyone's at all interested, you can buy from Steve in total confidence.
  8.
with that profit they shour re-design the website....
So I'm not the only one who thought that
  9.
Looks like a dogs dinner and I like a bit of graphite!
I'm more inclined to likening it to something towards the opposite end of the dog. I like :brow:
  10.
Haha! He actually got done for ABH once when 3 big mofos tried mugging him, he wriggled free then ended up leaving them each with at least one broken rib
No justice! Reminds me of pretty much the same from a story I read years ago of three lads that tried to mug a guy at a cash machine, not knowing he was a Royal Marine. Guess who came off worst there too

Sent Dave a PM asking for a quote for a couple of AKG wireless cables with silent jacks. Got the reply from him in no time while he was abroad on business! After he got back, I paid for them, and got them within 2-3 days. Awesome service. The quality of them is 1000% better than the AKG supplied cables, and our guitarist is extremely happy with his too.....he commented on how it's improved the sound quality of his signal compared to the AKG cable. And the silent jacks make it so much easier for a quick bass/guitar swap. Cheers Dave, I certainly know where to come next time. A++++++
  12. NO!!! DON'T DO IT!! Sunburst/Tort is the law
  13. Good on ya. Keep going and it'll be worth it. All the best, Pete.
  14. Get them questions thrown right in Reece. You're in the right place for some serious advice (don't try selling a Warwick though )
  15. "Fronted by former three-times world champion kickboxer Cengiz Dervis".... So you have no problems at your gigs then
  16. I went last year, and I'll be going again this year. £20 is well worth the money for the number of artists performing IMO. I saw Hadrien Feraud for the first time there last year, and I'd pay the £20 for him alone. But to have Richard Bona and Yolanda Charles there.....along with others.....it's well worth it. (And no, I'm not on commission ). And I'm glad it's in a great place!
  17. The band's called Seven Days - a wedding entertainment, functions and party band. www.weddingentertainmentband.co.uk I've been with them for around two and a half years now. In that time, we've replaced the drummer and only just recruited a keyboard player. So things are still on the up and I'm having a great time so all's well.
  18.
Despite a current roster of about 50 songs that I gig regularly, I always forget every bassline I know when anyone says "play something".
Me too. Can never remember anything that might sound remotely interesting to a non musician/bassist. Always end up playing something really simple.
  19.
Thanks - enjoyed that! Never heard of them/him before but they make a great noise.. Lovely bass playing and tone.
Same here. but loved it. Thanks very much.
  20.
I expect you've done youtube? This is a pretty good effort and you can see all those little octave slides and passing notes
Nice tone he's got going on there too.
  21. I've sold a bass to "Pedro1020". I've bought basses from "yesikris" and "yorks5stringer". The one I bought from "yesikris" has now been passed on to "Rasta" as part of a three way bass swap between him, myself and "Machines". I've bought/sold/swapped pedals, amps and cabs. And I've had no problems with anyone whatsoever. Great place this
  22.
love this Sterling,Its a beauty! I'm sick thinking how I traded away 2 of them earlier this year.
You're right. Lee played it while I was there doing an EBS pedal swap with him. Very nice bass indeed.
  23.
So how did u escape without buying a GB?
Simple......a lack of funds......otherwise I'd have had no problems whatsoever. In fact, I was quite tempted to put yours under my jumper and see if nobody noticed (as Bernie was demoing it to me the day before you picked it up).
