1.
Now if only I could drive also.
Ah......I see....... Maybe you could get a good friend/family member to help you out on that front. In my experience, you'll get much better service if you go see Bernie in person.
 2.
Unfortunatley I'm not close enough to pay him a visit in person, but he should be able to deliver down to here.
Mine was a 600+ miles trip in one day..... I left Manchester early morning, got to his place in Brighton around noon, spent about 4 hours there trying out all sorts of cabs, and came away with my two Neo cabs. I got home around 8/9pm. One hell of a long day, but like I said, definitely worth the long drive.
 3. Definitely go direct to Bernie. I did a round trip in a day from Manchester and it was most definitely worth it.
 4. Nice collection there mate. How much did the EUB set you back? It's something I might be looking at moving into when I'm more flush with cash. Oh by the way......I've now got the Multicomp box and spare screws at home, so I'll either pop them in the post or bob up next time I'm in Bolton. Cheers, Pete. P.S. All the best when the bairn arrives
 5. He answers in one of the questions that he won't let it go for under £700. Not that cheap IMO bearing in mind the 5 string versions have gone for less than that on here in the past (i.e. not in the current climate)
 6. Lovely collection. Is that an East Marcus Retro? And that SB-R80's lovely. Used to have an ex-Tony Butler model years ago. Great basses.
 7.
I wear a monocle and sport a centre parting.
And what about when you're gigging?
 8. Hi Steve, Good luck with it mate, hope you find what you're looking for. Have you put an advert on Partysounds? That's a good starting point, as well as sticking a few notices up in music shops in and around Manchester? All the best, Pete.
 9. Try PMing "peety". He's got one (or two)......not sure if it's USA but worth a try.
 10. I used to have, stood on my amp, a 3 inch high plastic pig playing the guitar. I went through a stage of superstition whereby if I didn't stand it on my amp, we had a bad gig; if I did, it was a good one. Still have it now, but don't put it on my amp, and it makes no difference whatsoever. I also had some shocking clothing during the 80's comprising of a pale blue silk shirt with a matt blue roses pattern along with silver trousers with black and white hieroglyphics all over them. I have photos......daren't upload them.

 12.
Why does it say on the homepage that “We have 3952 registered members” when new members have member numbers in the 4100s? EG – TheDarkReaver (who joined 28/08/08) is member number 4124. I’m such a f***ing geek for noticing this kind of thing, but even more so for posting a bloody topic about it! (i really don't have anything better to do other than notice this kind of thing)
Could it be that the allocation of numbers is done purely on a sequence, therefore next member is last current member + 1, and not by filling gaps left by registered members that have deleted their account?
 13. Cheers Matt for the 3 way swap between yourself, myself and Lee (Rasta). I've now got another bass I always wanted Matt was a pleasure to deal with, so a big thumbs up to the man. All the best, Pete.
 14.
Swapped my Stingray for Lee's Lakland 55-02 last week, he came up for the swap from Devon so mega thumbs up from me. Great chap !
As also being part of this 3 way swap (I eventually ended up with Machines' Stingray, and he got my JO5 in return), a huge thanks to Lee for enabling me to do the swap while down in the West Country on my holidays. Great guy. Cheers Lee.
 15. So the triangle went this way....... Rasta drives to the Midlands to swap his Lakland 55-02 for Machines' Stingray. I go down to Cornwall on my jollies, and take my Lakland JO5 with me. Rasta takes the Stingray back home to Plymouth. I drive from Newquay to Plymouth to swap my JO5 for Machines' Stingray. And we all lived happily ever after Cheers to both Machines and Rasta for putting up with me swapping and changing my travelling plans about 3 times. We all got there in the end.
 16.
Correct. They moved production late last year from the Cort factory in Korea, (who also make Lakland, Ibanez and some Fender models), to Indonesia. Unbelievable value for money and probably one of the most versatile Basses around. Check the sound files on the G&L site, they can do everything form a Stingray on Acid to Jazz and P Bass. A certain BassChatter known to Y5S and mysely used to use a Marcus Miller and a Lakland DJ5, (or is it a JO5), and now uses an L2500 Skyline instead of the 2.......
Yes, you're correct, it was a JO5 (which is now in the hands of Rasta down in Plymouth - part of a 3 way swap between myself, Rasta and Machines). The Tribute L-2500 is a fabulous piece of kit for the small amount of cash. If versatility is what you're after - this can handle most of what you'll want. As someone else has already posted on another thread, check out this Ed Freidland video on Youtube:
 17.
What a lot of bass for little money! Let me dust off my wallet..
In all seriousness, you won't be disappointed if you do. I'd not heard one myself either, til I heard a bass player who was gigging at the same venue as me. I thought it sounded fantastic, so I came home and started looking on the net. That same day, yorks5stringer was selling his. I couldn't believe the price they were selling for. It's now used as my main bass, ahead of my 91 Thumb 5 NT, Lakland JO5 and Fender Marcus Miller sig.
 18.
Erm, I don't have any sound clips or any way (that I know) of recording any. Does anyone have any G&L tones ready recorded that I can borrow? Preferably from a G&L with an ash body, and a maple neck & fingerboard? They'd be muchly appreciated. Thanks.
I'm sure the G&L site has a load of sound clips already. Go to http://www.glguitars.com/, then "Audio Clips" from the left menu, then select "Continue to audio clips" from the main body, then select "L-2500" from the basses.
 19.
.....I wouldn't gig one because of the first fret position being in another time zone from the body
I swear my left arm's longer than my right from the 17 years I've had mine!
 20. Met Lee tonight to swap my EBS Multicomp for his EBS Wah One. Really nice bloke, and we chatted for ages (or I chatted....and he listened ). Sorry Lee, hope the wife enjoyed her tea...eventually! Oh....and a bloody good bassist to boot Thanks Lee. And I'll keep you posted with any local gigs.
 21.
Couldn't agree more. Must be the best value Bass on the market, (except the Spector Euro 5 I got brand new for £499). It'll do Stingray, Jazz and P-Bass. No need to carry different basses around.
Too right. I bought yorks5stringer's spare in Sunburst.....absolutely fabulous bass. In truth, the ash/maple one would be my first choice, they look great. If you've still got it when I win the lottery this weekend, I'll give you a nudge. Other than that, have a free bump on me.
 22.
Has anyone played the 410 or 115 and able to give an opinion on either?? I know they have a pretty huge power handling!!
I think bassbunny uses Zoot Neo cabs, so it might be worth dropping him a PM.
 23.
fair enough, although in the current warwick decline you cant expect too much cash
With all due respect, I can expect as much as I want. Whether that suits myself and the buyer is down to us.
 24.
that warwick thumb 5 is a great trade deal, btw
Whoa there Tonto.......I think I may have mislead that one there. Not thinking, I clearly didn't realise what I probably inferred. I was just using my link without mentioning that I didn't mean a straight swap. For the Warwick, I'd look at a trade + cash (to be negoatiated) coming my way. The Lakland would be a straight swap. Sorry for any confusion
 25. yorks5stringer did a deal with me recently that took a lot longer than was probably ideal for both of us, but we did the deal all the same. In fact, I'd go as far as to say he's a very patient man. I think any deal just takes a bit of communication between the seller and any potential buyers, and it can all be sorted out in the end. I don't think there's anything wrong with the For Sale section as it is.
