Do you know he now does gigs in your own home if you can afford it? He comes round, does a few songs, and then rattles on about phylosophy for the majority of the night. A mate of mine (who's also a big fan) went to a shindig at his friend's house. But he came away thinking that sadly, Frank's head appears to be shoved firmly up his own rectum.
Gambale?? To me he's bloody awful.
And ain't that why we're all great? We've all got different opinions, all different tastes. Seen him play live a few times, never actually met him, but I find his sweeping technique fantastic. Saw him do a solo at the Brecon Jazz Festival where he played virtually all the way up the neck from bottom E to the top of the neck on his top E......and it was melodic (unlike "shredders"). That technique looks effortless.
I really can't get enough of Stewart Copeland.
Yes, yes, and thrice yes. Actually, thinking about wierd musicians, your avatar's just reminded me of something. I did a bit of TV work some years back, and after the last programme of the series, we set up in the bar and did a gig. We were joined by Uncle Peter (Woof, Bark, Donkey) on drums, and Fish on vocals, whilst being watched by Noddy Holder and Frank Sidebottom. Surreal.
 2.
Paco DeLucia....truly inspirational
I'll never forget getting home late from a gig many, many years ago, very tired. I sat scanning through the old German satellite channels and came across Paco, John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola playing acoustic guitars. I chucked a VHS tape in the old video recorder and sat mesmerised. It was absolutely stunning and I completely forgot that I was tired. Just amazing. I then went to Australia years later, and got hold of a copy of the CD of that night, on a market stall at a knock down price. Wonderful bit of business.
 3. "Best Practice" download here http://www.xs4all.nl/~mp2004/bp/ Slow down/speed up/change pitch. Great stuff. And absolutely free.
 4. To name but a few..... Guitarists: Frank Gambale, Martin Taylor, Francis Dunnery Drummers: Dave Weckl, Buddy Rich, Vinnie Colauita, Phil Gould, Gary Husband, Billy Cobham, Neil Peart Keyboard players: Chick Corea, Michel Petrucciani I also really admire people like Neil Finn, not for being a great musician, but for being an incredible songwriter which in many ways is as important, if not more so, than just being a great guitarist/drummer, etc. As for people I know, our current drummer is a 24 Slovakian, and he's an incredible drummer. Jazz trained, but can turn his hand to anything. He's improved me as a bass player just by playing with him. He's also a great guy which is half the thing for me - he's like a younger brother, despite me being old enough to be his dad! I played with the previous drummer for around 7 months, and never felt connected with him either musically or personally. Me and Marek hit it off at his audition....it was just obvious he was the guy for us. I've also played with a guy called Jeremy Sassoon who is an incredible trumpeter, and then I go and find he's as good on the keyboards. God I hate him
 5.
Cheers Pete Give me a PM if you fancy adding a Wah 1 or another Unichorus to your arsnal- lee
I wish mate, I wish. But I'm selling rather than investing at the moment. Feel free to have a nosey at my 91 Warwick Thumb 5 NT in the basses for sale section You could include the Wah as a trade I suppose
 6. I take 2 or 3 basses to every gig. I get the odd gig where one of the other basses just sounds better.
 7. I'm sure I've seen someone selling a TD350 on here. Obviously, if they're selling, they're probably just after the cash, but it might be worth you hunting them out. Oh, and I have a TD650 too. Absobloodylutely fantastic amp. So have a free bump on me, and good luck finding what you're after.
 8. Ah.....Stuart.....you beat me to it. Yes, Stuart (bassbunny) & I went to see Keith play last night. Great band. Some great tunes.....some you don't hear too often, and some that you do hear often but done slightly differently which was refreshing. My reason for going was to pay Keith the remainder of the payment for his G&L L2500 Tribute (which is great to play and sounds fantastic by the way). Keith's been very patient and that has been very much appreciated. Keith's a great guy to deal with, and I would recommend him to anybody, buying or selling. Thanks once again Keith. All the best, Pete.
 9. I'm not going to be on a downer. I'd absolutely love to see them live, whether it's a solotastic night or not. I never got the chance to see the likes of Jaco in the flesh. Luckily, I've seen Marcus two or three times, Stanley with George Duke once, but never Victor. I also remember how I felt the first time I saw Chick Corea with Patitucci, Weckl, Gambale and Marienthal live. So to see Stanley, Marcus and Victor on the same stage together would be something I could walk away from with a huge smile on my face.......if only there were UK dates (what did I say about not being on a downer? ).
 10.
Thurman "Peanut" Woods: Keep an ear out for that last fill.
Incredible. I could listen to these guys all night.
 11.
Would you ship to Sweden?
Let me calculate shipping costs, and I'll get back to you.
 12.
I've got one, MK with sig electronics, and prior to playing one I would have said much the same as has been said about 'furniture basses'. At the end of the day I don't give a f*** what it cost (it's tax deductible anyway) and don't care If I scratch it (I do take care, but it's to be played) It is just, by a million miles, the closest representation of what I want to hear of any bass I've ever played, it is the best. It has massive presence of sound in any gig situation. I've gigged it in some pretty large rooms (O2 arena being the biggest) just pre amp to desk and laughed out loud at how it filled the room with warm pleasing sound. I don't mean that can't be acheived by other instruments, it's just that this one works for me.... can you tell?!? I should make the point that for me it is also a tool of the trade, most tradesmen want the best tools for them, I'm no different.
I had the pleasure of hearing and seeing Jake's Alembic last weekend at the Manchester Jazz Festival. It's a stunning instrument. It makes me take back my earlier comment about being scared to gig with one. Why own one and not gig with it? One day......
 13. Man, if I only had the cash. I was on my way down to Brighton the day you bought it from silverfoxnik, and got the phone call to say you'd bought it. If only I'd got my foot down Good luck with the sale.
 14.
It does sound good!! Very tight band as well... brings back too many memories of that clothingly challenged 80's/90's era for comfort though
Ah yes, 80s/90s clothing. I found some old photos of some stagewear I had....absolutely shocking.....I may create a "worst outfit" thread one day....I'm sure I'd be top of the list.
Did your band/singer cover much Journey/Steve Perry stuff
He was a sucker for pomp rock. It's hard to remember all that we did but we did everything from Since You've Been Gone to Mary's Prayer. Even some Mr Mister and Manilow stuck in there too. Cabaret at its best Anyway, back to matters in hand........someone snap up this bass for £200......it's a bargain. In my humble opinion, you won't find a better sounding bass for that money.
 15. I currently do not have piece of earthenware to urinate in. However, I'll reiterate they are great basses....so £200 is a great price for anyone. A mate's put a video on YouTube of me playing mine in our band about 18-19 years ago (click here if interested), and I thought it sounded great even considering it's recorded on a camcorder.
 16. Mine are in my sig but here goes..... And a couple of really old ones....the first about 18-19 years ago, and the second around 21-22 years ago!
 17.
Just thought I'd add, I met Pete yesterday as he kindly came to my gig and he is a thoroughly decent chap, buy this cracking bass with confidence. Bumpo
That's very kind of you Jake. There same can be said for you too. And what a great band....made it all worth while standing in the odd downpour. Keep in touch if you're back up here gigging with anyone else. And you're right.....it is a cracking bass.
 18. The BB1100S is a bloody good bass. I had one about 20 years ago, and it was fabulous. I saw an old video on YouTube that a mate had put on of the band I was in at the time, and it still sounds great on that vid despite it being all those years ago. Great bass for little money. Good luck with the sale.
 19.
Might be worth changing your name to funky fingers.
Hmmm......thinks.....
I think we might have all been down your road at some time [ if we are honest - and we proberly aint ]
Nail on head.
