What a surprise. I was bidding but wasn't prepared to go above £300. Someone won it for £302, but either it was seller putting in fake bids or Mr Crackhead wasn't happy with selling price as he appears to have promptly cancelled and res-listed.

SSSSW (Super Suspect Six String Warwick...)
bassbloke replied to binky_bass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Ask him whereabouts in London he is based. Plenty of forum members in the area. If he is a legitimate seller he'll understand why a potential buyer might want reassurance and allow someone to go and view. Or, old fashioned approach, ask him to post a photo of himself holding it with a newspaper or something. -
Charvel Fusion IV Bass *now £SENSIBLE Offer!*
bassbloke replied to cetera's topic in Basses For Sale
My first decent bass was a Fusion V and I'm still kicking myself for selling. Like this one, I swapped out original blade pickups with EMGs. My friend had the Jackson equivalent and I can confirm that the Charvel version did indeed poo on it from a great height. Better shape, neck, construction and electronics. If this was a 5 and in original black sparkle would have bought it without a second thought. I appreciate that's a lot of ifs. -
They aren't asking for £42. They're asking for £18K

Nothing that screams scam to me. Ken Lawrence basses were much more prevalent back in the late 90s/early 00s. The other instruments are exactly what I'd expect from a Japanese guitar store. I just got back from 10 days in Japan for work and most guitar shops have a section for expensive/over priced US instruments. Saw plenty of eye wateringly expensive Alembics. There's a market for it.

Late entry, but a strong contender. This one's a belter and manages to offend fans of Spector, Fender and ESP. I have two purple basses and love the colour. They've even managed to get that wrong.

Well, new used bass day as opposed to new bass day. Picked up for a very good price from Ishibashi Music in Shinjuku, Tokyo during a recent business trip. They had the grey and red in stock and whilst I preferred red, it had a few sizeable dings and paintwork chips and only around £10 price difference, so grey it was. Still very nice though. It's a non-export model, which IMHO, looks nicer and more balanced. The black scratchplate and control plate contrast nicely against binding on the body. Light, heavily contoured basswood body, very slim 70s profile jazz bass neck and a lovely punchy sound. If I was being picky, I'd say the jazz pickup sounds a bit thin - a common criticism - but it adds some bite to the sound. The P pickup sounds lovely and it's nice to finally have a bass I can use for the precision bass sound. Only other complaint is those silly plastic knobs. Will be replacing with chrome domed ones.

£235. Someone has picked up an absolute bargain.

Some serious 90s bass and studio kit there. If you have the bass and core strength, you won't be disappointed.

Depends on item and shop. One of the footswitches failed on my HX Stomp 2 weeks after buying it. GuitarGuitar swapped it with zero fuss. Would have been far more hassle 2nd hand.

Ebay disputes are heavily weighed in buyer's favour. If you didn't like it, he could refuse the return, but if it arrived damaged or faulty, you would have no issue raising a dispute and getting your money back.

You should watch the SBL where he adds his own bass part to Iron Maiden's The Trooper. It's brilliant.

Is there a popular bass player, that you just don’t get?
bassbloke replied to Rayman's topic in General Discussion
Some of that is hard work. To save basschat viewers of a nervous disposition, the only solos of note were Flea, first half of Bunny Brunel and Jimmy Johnson. The rest are pointless. -

Robert Trujillo. When I say I don't get him, what I mean is that I struggle with the fact that someone whose career includes excellent work in Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves and Black Label Society and stints with Jerry Cantrell and Ozzy Osbourne seems to have regressed so much as a player. I'd say it's even more apparent than Lars Ulrich. Whenever you see footage of him, he's playing some crappy wah, fuzz drenched 'solo' or smacking seven bells of sh*t out of a custom shop Warwick. That said, I doubt he'd want to swap places with me. -
How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
bassbloke replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
3rd rehearsal with new vocalist. All original material (heavy metal) and we're tweaking the songs and tuning to best fit his voice and range. We've gone from Eb with our original vocalist (Bruce Dickinson esque tenor) to C# with current vocalist who is a baritone into lower tenor territory. We detuned mid rehearsal as an experiment. I have a pretty light touch anyway, but can't remember the last time I played that softly. I turned my amp up and let it do the hard work. The opening 15 minutes of the Gary Willis instruction video came flooding back. I have to re-work quite a few bass parts to make them less busy. Low tunings require space to stop them sounding mushy.
