I think that's the first time I've heard a shout for Simon Kirke on these esteemed pages, Dan Dare. Amazing drummer and should be a household name IMHO.

The 80's were a musical wasteland, complete with tumbleweeds. I thought music had died and gone to hell. I still remember the sense of relief and joy when I first heard 'Nevermind', and a new decade dawned. :-) (I may be exaggerating for dramatic effect. Don't hit me!)
I remember seeing Jimmy Lea just mingling with all the other regulars in the bar at a gig in Wolverhampton in the 90's, I think I was a bit too starstruck to approach him but it sounds like he'd have been alright with it. I couldn't stop myself thanking Roy Wood for all the great music through the years when he sometimes used to pop down to Rock City in Nottingham for the Sat night rock nights. I didn't take up much of his time and he was very down to earth and rather humble.
Someone told me he was at the Robert Plant gig in W'hampton in November. If so, he must have been mingling in again.
I'm afraid I'd end up as part of a bridge support on some road extention somewhere. You don't mess with 'shell.
Yes, you wouldn't want to meet with a little 'accident', Mr B. Mwaa haaa haaa!
I thought the Prodigy were awesome - fantastic in your face set and great lightshow. The whole place was rocking.
Yes I thought they were great too. But I wanted to see THEM rocking, not a plethora of annoying blonde bimbos, and the backs of peoples heads. If I'd wanted to get glimpses of them through a massive crowd I could have gone to the event itself. And then when they do show you what's actually happening on the stage, you get a close-up of the drummers left ear or something. I really hate unnecessary close- ups when you want to see the whole band. Same with close ups of dancer's feet or individual flowers at the Chelsea Flower show. Let's have the whole picture! I need another lie-down now!

It's great when you find out someone you admire is actually likeable in real life! Not so good the other way round though. As I found out with another Midlands musician recently. My lips are sealed.
-
In fact it's annoying me now. I'm going to bed. :-(
-
Prodigy on now. I wish the cameras would show us more of the band and less of the audience.
-
I'm enjoying it. I haven't listened to much of his music before. (apart from the obvious Oasis hits). No particular reason, it just sort of passed me by. But I'm enjoying this set.

Couldn't seem to get my arse in gear today, so missed this one. Maybe pop along if they do another one.

I might check it out just to see what it's like.

South East Bass Bash No.9, Surrey, Saturday 26th September 2015

That's the last day of my holiday at Lake Garda so I will have to miss it this year. :-( -
To me, in my forties, the only ' unacceptable' stage wear is stage wear that makes me physically uncomfortable, so when it's hot, it's shorts time! Thought we all agreed after Cobain that there are no unacceptable things to wear?😀
The unacceptables are: Football shirts, M&S jeans, bobbly jumpers.

She looks like she's in her pants and vest to me. Did she forget her PE kit? (That's underpants and singlet to you, Blue, lol :-) )

It's a hobby for me. I don't gig much (in fact not at all ATM!). Nevertheless, I'd be wanting to rehearse once a week. It's a hobby I enjoy...therefore I want to be doing it regularly. Since I left my last band I really miss the rehearsals actually. The chance to just stand there playing with a full band for a couple of hours, hearing your bass at a decent volume is great. When I was acting, we'd rehearse 2-3 times a week when we were getting a show on. So once a week seems quite light to me.
Well really... what if you're perfect for this, but... are 30??
If I was interested in this I'd just go along and not mention my age. And if they asked me I'd just say 'I have a playing age of 29'. It's what us thesps do all the time!
Aaaaah I never checked here sorryyy! Oh shame, I knew I should have done a Black Veil Brides tribute band... And yes sleeping with your sister is an instant yes. I might push the legal age to a small 75 years old then, but no more than that... The age reason is, indeed, related to the amount of schwing, cuz everyone knows what happens to the schwing pas 29 (or it has to do with shifting priorities away from 'being crammed in a sweaty sh*t smelling pubes ridden van' in most people past late 20's I don't remember). party on
Oh dear, that's put the cat among the pigeons. Better brace yourself! Party on everyone. Till you're 29 and then you might as well go home and suck on a werther's original.

World's greatest rockstar - not Kanye, but who tho?
Does it have to be a musician? Surely you just need somebody with a massive body of work, who can burn out or retire young, who is infamous, a little dangerous and has loyal fans and ardent haters... somebody like Julian Assange, Mark Zuckerberg, Russel Brand etc... these guys all fit the mold. The guys living that sort of lifestyle will, now, unlikely get there by playing blue rock to massive crowds. That ship has sailed.
Interesting point. In same way that Lord Byron was the Rock Star of his day, perhaps. -
Dear Ms Shell Because you've already thought about drinking flat champagne out of a plastic glass in a special VIP area while thinking about Kanye West, remit immediately $177.50 within seven days to: Ticketmaster / 'Just thinking about Kanye West VIP package'. Please supply proof of age / ethnicity when making your payment (all major cards accepted). Best Lola Fatuous for Ticketmaster / K-West Inc .
Dear Ms Fatuous The cheque's in the post. I think that Kanye looks like a nice boy because he is clean and he doesn't play with nasty long-haired rock musicians. Or indeed musicians of any kind. I am a kindly middle aged lady from Surrey. I hope this does not invalidate my application. regards Shelley (Ms)

Mick Jagger. I think to be proper Rock Star you also have to be a household name. People from kids to Grannies will have heard of you. So I think Truckstop makes a good point. Kanye has all the bad boy qualities, is supremely arrogant and loads of people have heard of him. But he's not really rock n Roll is he? He looks a bit too healthy for a start. I think Rock Stars need to look a bit peaky. -
KANYE WEST ANNOUNCES 'GROUND-BREAKING' 2016 TOUR Following his acclaimed performance-free performance at Glastonbury, global uberstar Kanye West today announced plans for an 'innovative' 2016 world tour which will 'raise the bar even higher'. A spokesman said: 'The ground-breaking twist will be that Kanye won't actually be present at any of the concerts nor will there be a musical performance of any kind by anyone. For $150 a ticket Kanye's millions of devoted fans will be able to stand in an empty, stage-free, unseated venue where they can silently stare at each other in celebration of Kanye's genius. 'But Kanye hasn't forgotten those of his fans who can't afford $150 to see Kanye not perform. So Ticketmaster are offering a special $75* deal where - for 90 minutes - you can just think about Kanye not performing - all in the comfort of your own home. And of course, you can do this on the date of your choosing. But not more than once, obviously, because that would be like bootlegging or whatnot'. Ends * $75.00 fee for the 'Just thinking about Kanye' package excludes booking charge, administration surcharge and postage. .
For an extra $40 can I think about drinking some flat champagne out of a plastic glass in a special VIP area?

Very sad news. Another one of the greats gone.
Bit 'meh' last night but only second gig with new band, still ironing a few things out. It was a pick up gig to fill in for a band that had to cancel at a venue that is always going to be a bit hit and miss and not the sort of place we would probably normally target. I didn't push for a repeat booking, treated it like a paid rehearsal. The locals that were there seemed to like it as did the manager. Not sure if we'll get asked back or not.
I know you don't do FB, but there are some good pics up! One of you looking very rock n Roll, despite the flowery flouncy curtains in the background, and some very dubious wallpaper.
