1.
I like the idea of this being the musical version of Ham.... oops the Scottish play.
I think you'll find Ham.. is the Danish play! But yes, I like your thinking
 2.
It's been covered by enough people...
Seemingly not by anyone in this thread though. Go on, let us know what it before someone weakens and googles it. :-D
 3.
I don't care about the colour - if I could find any box without the aid of sonar I'd be happy.
Classic!
 4. And he's a great dancer. As I may have mentioned before. A few times
 5.
I'm happy that the OP was delighted with the music coming out of the radio and the bass tone contained within. And it seemed to be a self contained, non-projecting personal opinion too. Why some knuckleheads can't resist turning it into a P vs. J thing then a P vs. everything else thing is beyond me
Yes indeed. It's wonderful how a piece of music can transport us back to another place and time. Also wonderful how music can provide the soundtrack to a personal experience. Let's celebrate that! :-)
 6. This sounds fun. I'd love to include my humble MIM Fender P in the test. I've heard it played by KevB through his rig and it definitely sounded a lot better than when I play it! It would be fun to discover if people can tell it's 'just' a MIM.
 7. C'mon then, Kev, set us another one.
 8.
Basic rule of thumb for bands. Dress the same as your audience only 10% more so (unless you're Mr Dick Venom).
I'm going by the rule. 'Dress like the band you wish you were'. Which means I'm usually got up like some sort of minor rock godess while the rest of them are in jeans and t-shirts. For me, if I feel the part more I act the part more. Eventually I might actually be as good as I pretend to be.!
 9. This is all going wrong because you nasty boys aren't playing properly Somebody post a lyric now, or I shal scthream till I'm thick!
 10.
If you were looking for an example of an odd time signature, I'd say that 7/8 was a much better one than 8/8 . I've rarely come across 8/8 but 7/8 is relatively common and is always (in my experience) divided up into smaller groups. 5/4 (as in Take 5) is another classic example. I've also seen scores where your 8/8 examples have been written as , say 2 bars of 3/8 followed by one bar of 2/8. I think 8/8 is a comparatively modern way of going about things, similar to the recent trend of not using a key signature and writing everything down as an accidental.
'Times Like These' by the Foo Fighters starts out in 7/8. Our band was thinking of covering it, but one of the things that put us off was the 7/8 introduction. I don't think we can all count up to 7 together!
 11. I'm confused now. What line are we trying to guess? Is it still a line from Ello John Got a New Motor?
 12. Absolutely love her. 'Ladies of the Canyon'one of my all time fave albums. 'Conversation' - the best unrequited love song ever. 'She removes him like a ring to wash her hands, she only brings him out to show her friends' . Poetry! :-)
 13. Hope you can make it herstbass. IME the bass bashes are a great for newbie players. If find yourself brave enough to have a little play it will really boost your confidence. If not, you'll still learn loads and meet some terrific people who may become friends and/or unofficial mentors. And just soak up the generally bassy atmosphere. I speak from experience, having attended my first one in Sept 2011 when I'd only been learning for about 9 months.
 14. I'm gonna leave you. Babe I'm Gonna Leave you by Led Zep. 'In and around the lake...'
 15.
OP, I've experienced similar! I auditioned for a band who have played on the mainstage at Sonisphere more than once as well as world touring. I was very pleased as I made it down to the last two out of the hundred or so applications. I didn't get the job because, and I quote 'you're probably the better musician but the other guy just looked right.' I learned alot that day!
Clearly a case of jealousy and insecurity on their part because you look like a total rock god, Dan. :-)
 16. Status half wounds for me. As recommended by someone on here. Lovely and smooth on my ladies hands, lol Perfect for someone who can't decide between rounds and flats. ! And inexpensive at £16.99 direct from Status.
 17.
Probably best to turn up to an audition with a selection of outfits, wigs, make-up, false beards, hats, stilts, Toulouse-Lautrec costume, etc. and just dress according to the whims of the musical director. Then you can't go wrong really, can you?
You forgot to add gardening trousers to this list.
 18.
Talk about being one stage removed from reality. Everything's fine, don't worry - just stare at your
It's the modern equivalent of opera glasses.
 19.
In Birmingham there's this place which is really good http://www.theoxygenrooms.com Then there's this place at the other end of the spectrum, last time I was there it was a dump. I'm guessing it's probably used mainly by males. http://www.robannas-studios.co.uk The only one I've used in London is this one, very good but also quite expensive. The once they even charged us for using a keyboard stand. http://www.residents...s.com/about-us/ I've been to one in Leicester a few times, just out of the city centre, that was good, but I don't remember the name.
Interesting, thanks for the link to the Oxygen Rooms. We currently rehearse in Walsall, but I may be looking for something in Brum soon. Looks like this might fit the bill
 20.
That'll be the hot flushes then...
Don't you start!
 21.
Is it all clear now?
Yes, I've simmered down now
 22.
ha ha ....worse than I thought... I thought you were going to say 45-50..!!!
Oi! Watch it!
 23.
Nah, just use all the hot air emanating from band leader.
Lol :-)
