Feeling a bit better today so I shall probably pop along to say hi. Not sure that I'll have the nerve to play anything, but will bring me bass along just in case. :-)

Hi both Debs. I'm another old girl who has only been playing a short while. I've been having lessons for just over a year now. I was dead nervous at the first lesson, feeling very ancient and uncool. But my teacher put me at my ease straight away and has been an absolute inspiration. I hope you will enjoy bass playing as much as I do. And have fun on the forum :-)

Or maybe they thought something sounded a bit loud, they couldnt really tell what but they just assumed it was the bass because you've got the biggest instrument. :-0

This has got me thinking about the main songs I have learned over the past year. My teacher suggested some of these, others I asked him if he could show me, one I worked out for myself. I'm not telling you which is which! 1. Daytripper - The Beatles 2. Gangster - the Specials 3. Enter Sandman - Metallica 4. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson 5. Paranoid - Black Sabbath 6. Money - Pink Floyd 7. Hotel California - The Eagles 8. Dazed and Confused - Led Zep 9. So What - Miles Davis 10. Everyday - Slade Quite a nice varied selection I think!

I cannot believe that discreet hasn't been along yet to tell you what he turns the pages with!!!!

I went to the last one and there was plenty to do besides admire each other' s basses. They had laid on some interesting talks and workshops and there was a jam room with an actual drummer and everything! So I think there would be plenty for you to enjoy, Bluejay, even if you were the only leftie :-)

Maybe it's time for a little bump... Just over 2 weeks to go. I hope people are still up for this. I'm fattening up the goose already....

Just got in (its been a long day) and mine was waiting for me on the mat. So thats good. I notice its the May issue, which means we've lost April. Mine's a gift subscription which started in December. So I hope it will finish in Dec as well so I get the 12 issues my friend has paid for.

To my shame, I only realised recently that there was a northern soul verson of this! Heard it on radio 2 and was really impressed. In fact i even asked my bass teacher if he would teach it to me. He said he would but he hasnt yet. Maybe he doesnt really like it either!

I love flamenco, it is so pure and passionate. I used to do a bit of flamenco dancing. Having done tap dancing, I thought flamenco would be easy. How wrong I was! :-)

But will there be any girls in this band that you can stand and leer at?

Didnt see them on JH, but have just heard a track played on R2. I wanted to like it, but it didnt quite leap up and bite me. I think I'll have to reserve judgement until I hear some more.. Edit. It might have been 6Music not R2. I dont even know what I'm listening to half the time!
