Up for grabs is my trusty Mex Fender Jazz Deluxe fitted with an East Retro 01 pre. I've always liked this bass, but find I rarely play it nowadays, and in all honesty I need to thin down my collection. It's in mint condition, and, if not required I can replace the East pre with the original one to make the bass cheaper at £400. If anyone buys it as is I'll send the original pre along with it. I am looking for a nice 4 string unlined fretless, so would be open to trades for the right one with cash either way. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Up for sale is my Boss VE 20. These are terrific bits of kit, but I find it's surplus to requirements within my current band. It's in mint condition and boxed with manual. I'll happily send pictures to any interested parties, but the boss website will tell you all you need to know. Asking price includes shipping to a mainland UK address
Brilliant! Looks like your guitarist has a drawn-on moustache!
And what's more, what a great idea keeping a spare mic on the brim of your hat! -

High quality decal wanted
Rowley Birkin QC replied to Rowley Birkin QC's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for the input guys, I'll drop R&F a line. -
Don't know whether this is in the right forum, but here goes. I'm completing a refinish on my Washburn status headless, which I've refinished in white. What I need now is a high quality decal making. I've previously bought a good quality waterside Fender decal from Northwest Guitars and something like that would be ideal, however, I believe they just buy them in, perhaps from the states, so may not be able to create me one. In fairness the decal is all in black, and I have created the decal in a graphics program, but I don't have the equipment to produce a high quality waterslide. So, can anyone point me in the right direction? I would settle for a vinyl graphic, but it would have to be really in a very thin material as I want to lacquer over it and don't want to be able to feel an edge. Any ideas?

Just bought a Squier VM Jazz of Chris. Communications were spot on and I found him very accommodating. Bass was just as described and spot on! Highly recommended.

Japanese Fender Precision Output
Rowley Birkin QC replied to Rowley Birkin QC's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks for the input (no pun intended). I ordered one of KiOgon's electronics upgrades, who also, as it happened, had some DiMarzio pickups spare which he very kindly offered to post to me to try out. What a difference the whole combination made. Much cleaner sounds right through the range of lows to highs, a vastly improved sound and has made this bass a definite "keeper" for me now. Have a great Christmas all. -
This may be in the wrong forum, so please feel free to move it if so! I recently bought a Japanese made Fender Precision bass (Circa mid 80's accordng to the serial) from a fellow BC'er. It plays well and, in general, I'm happy with it, however, my issue is that the output from the pickups is, it seems, quite weak. I noticed it mainly at the last rehearsal when I changed to my BITSA precision fretless for one particular song. The body for the BITSA was en Ebay purchase and was said to be a Squier. Without altering any amp settings, the output from the fretless was much higher than the Jap Fender. They're both passive basses so I can only assume it's the pickups/electrics that are causing the issue. I think I have read somewhere that the Jap Fender electrics were their weak point and wondered if anyone could shed any light on this issue. As it happens, I have today picked up another bass (I know......I seem to be on a mission at the moment!), a passive Squire 5 String Jazz in "as new" condition. When I plugged this in, it sounded "MASSIVE", with huge output from the pickups. So, do I change the electrics/pickups on the Jap? Any help/opinions greatly appreciated.

SOLD Jap 80s Fender Precision, maple and sunburst
Rowley Birkin QC replied to alhbass's topic in Basses For Sale
Hi Al, I'm very interested in this bass, can you confirm what the fret wear is like (if there is any) and does it still have the original electronics? Appreciate it might not be easy to tell on the electronics front, but, then again you may be an electronics guru!!!!! Cheers Rowley
