  1. It's nice to meet another of the Porto Blu persuasion and yes I also supplement my wardrobe with a selection of car-boot and charity finds. However, my immediate dilemma concerns appropriate footwear. On the left, open-toed and perhaps a little risque. On the right a sensible velcro fastened. Which to wear? These will accompany my beige chino's and a light check cotton shirt which I may not tuck in my waistband due to the hot weather. Grateful for all and any suggestions.
  2. Buy my strings from Bass Direct, worth a look, prices were keen.
  3. I'd like to try a GK MB200, 2lbs, and a Peavey Minimax, 5lbs. The TCE is 4lbs. This lightweight gear is just great, BF did us a big favour. Together with the fact that I sit on a chair to play in my Blue Harbour comfortable clothing I'm finding this bass playing lark less taxing than ever. The next performance will see the Fox Hollies Set at Fenny Drayton where St Micheal and All Angels Church have their Summer fete next week. We're on after a recital by a lady pianist of the parish. Refreshments available of course. Life has never been better!
  4. A cheap class D that I can just scoop out the mids on - sounds great.
  5. Things are going down hill fast today, sloppy spelling and grammar. Edited, thank you.
  6. Thank you. Corrected and apology given. That's 2 spelling mistakes I've been reprimanded for in this post and that's before the chidings I expected for my depicted misconduct. But it's good to see that BC is doing its bit to maintain high standards, (oh no, I started this sentence with a conjunction).
  7. The tawdry item is not the instrument stand I'm afraid which I find quite good, I have 2 the same, they are K&M. The tawdry item is the speakon to Jack speaker cable which looks like an odd bit of 1.00mm mains cable at least a good 2' long. I believe that only 27 Amp 2.5mm cable is acceptable. Well this has been amusing. hope you all enjoyed it, (by the way they were the kitchen cupboard doors).
  8. 5. Yes, the plectrum - plus others that I was unaware of!
  9. In accordance with a number of Basschatters's no-nos, I've depicted 5 definite transgressions, and one tawdry item. Not necessarily in order of wickedness: 1. Reading the Daily Mail. 2. Use of a music stand, (the folder is pink, not the stand). 3. Curly cable. 4. Irrefutable evidence of having played Moondance. 5. ? + 1 tawdry item
  10. This and other reviews encouraged me to look out for a one 10 and I bought one from this parish earlier in the year. I can't add anything more than has been said other than to concur and say I am delighted. In my 70th year I can sling my amp and cab over my shoulder in a Tiger cajon bag, 20lbs total. I chose the TCE BH250 as I already had the BG250-208 as my lightweight solution and wanted the tuner and spectracomp in one easy package. It also allows me to use the one 10 as an ext cab should I feel the need to use the full 250 watts.
  11. Here's my short scales. I have LaBella flats on all 3. The HCT is my flavour of the month. A fairly uncoloured or clear tone, not plonky as per the Ignition model, but as it says on the label a more contemporary hi-fi-ish sound with good sustain. The quirky controls are very effective and the pickups powerful. A quality instrument, I use it to play with the Jazz quartet. The Mustangs are so simple and easy to get a great tone out of with bags of sustain. Use them for Rock'n'Roll/pop stuff. Both instruments are fairly lightweight so that suits me getting lazy in my dotage.
  12. My 208 I find a very convenient combo. Light-weight, 26 lbs, built in tuner, built in compression, (spectracomp), and not too expensive. The low end depends on position/room. OK, not very loud but not bad on it's own. With an ext cab it's as much as you want. Sounds like it might suit your needs.
  13. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Fender-Urban-Short-Scale-Bass-Gig-Bag/1IXP?origin=product-ads&gclid=CjwKCAjwgYPZBRBoEiwA2XeupVbtawIc2Pp2514toQ5Ir0zs_QLNxpTvOZ_n9BQIgd1sI9JDqgsHxxoCUn0QAvD_BwE I bought one of these, perfect fit.
  14. Currently use my Squier Mustang a lot and thought I'd try a Jag. It was OK, value for money yes, but not up to the quality of the Mustang so I gave it to my grandson as a starter bass.
  15. I have a TCE BH250 into a BF One10. I am happy with the EQ, and the Spectracomp feature. Built in tuner too. I'll admit not powerful enough for most but it does me. My combo is the TCE BG250-208 and I alternate between the two. For louder I can use the One10 as an extension to the combo & get the full 250 class D watts. I would do most pubs or WM clubs with it. The bonus is weight and size. Gas has gone. So not disappointed at all here.
