1. You've seen what guys have independently said above about this bass and the price I'm asking. I literally can't go any lower, but remember this £1000 includes fully insured shipping and a brand new hardfoam case, what more could you possibly want? You are of course welcome to come and try it if you are interested - I'm in West Brompton in South West/Central London
 2.
Well, it's not in the world of custom basses but it is for an 'off the rack' Warwick.
Agreed, though mine is a custom Warwick and I've had it from new. Need someone to buy it though so I can fund the new one I have reserved (new to me, actually second hand), can't believe I've had no takers yet as I'm breaking my balls on the price, damn government/bankers/hippies.
 3.
At a gig this weekend...Lately when I see pictures of myself I start thinking "who is this old man ?". Time is moving on :-)
That Sandberg is achingly beautiful!
 4.
Which custom pickups are you intending to fit? The basic model JAEBirds use SD SSB-4 pickups with a chromed plate stuck to the top of the black pickup cover.
Not decided as yet. EMGs, Bartolinis and I suppose also SDs would be considered. I'd pick MECs if they weren't so goddamn expensive.
 5.
I think you'll find it's Alpine White (pedant alert, but I got pulled up on that once). The original Korean ones are very nice basses, finished to a high standard and with decent hardware and electronics. The new Chinese ones look nice, if you like a bit of chromey bling, but the pickups are, as someone suggested above, guitar pickups and, just to make the point as strongly as possible without actually shouting ** bloody awful**. (That's a link, by the way, in case you don't believe me). This is classic Catch-22, as the only reason to buy one of the new ones is the chrome pickups, but as soon as you get it you'll have to replace them. They are both described as limited edition, as in mass produced in China for a limited period.
You are right on the Alpine front, I didn't read the thing properly (I do know it's Alpine but wasn't paying attention and picked a word beginning with A that sounded cold and white!) I have a problem, in that I very much like the look of the silver hardware on the body, but love the look of the black hardware on the headstock, I'm considering making some b*****d child of the two, though not set on that. As for the pups, I think I'd be replacing them regardless (though there is a vague chance of me keeping them if I bought the non-terrible vintage guitar pickuped one). So I guess this then begs the question, which of them will best fit the custom pickups I want to put in, or do they both have the same pickup route? I suppose I could always buy a black hardware one, as I'd get the headstock hardware I like, I could replace the bridge with a chrome badass or similar, and the stock pickups are at least passable until I upgrade. Then the only difference is the knobs, and if I really wanted to locate 3 vintage RI epi knobs I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult. Question: is this one (black hardware one) the korean version, which I would personally imagine to be better?
 6.
If I had a spare £1000 I would buy this. Its worth so much more. I hate the economy. On the upside the slow sake of 1k+ basses means I'm keeping my Big Al
Thank you, PB, if you fancy getting a loan, or digging deep into an overdraft, let me know
 7.
How did you fix it?
It just so happened to work when I got home, no idea why... Hope it doesn't happen again though, will get myself one of those behringers as a backup when i bit more cash....
 8. Dan bought a Bassballs off me - he paid at the speed of light, and communication was always quick, polite and friendly. A pleasure to deal with, have fun with the Bassballs!
 9. So after all the fuss of taking my bass and now ok sansamp through rush hour, the producer said I couldn't input my bass to the desk, either via jack or balanced xlr and insisted I played acoustic....thankfully about 25s into the first song the building manager came and silenced us due to complaints from a neighbouring office. What a load of fun....
 10. Seen the silverburst in a few places but I want a white one lol! I'm happy with a bolt on neck BRX, I have a thru neck reverse body, and a bolt on non-reverse and love both. I'm aware the white ones only come in standard bolt on and I'm cool with that. They both have different joys and downsides and that's fine by me. To be honest I'd be upgrading the bridge for sure on either of these, and perhaps the pickups too, depending on the sound. If anyone has experience of the vintage look pickups that'd be good because I'm leaning towards that one looks wise! Again, any solid answers to the above would be good.
 11. Ok so I've promised the missus the last thunderbird I buy (at least for a good while) will be a stock, Alpine White Epiphone one. Now I know that the arctic white was a limited run, but in my searches and ebay trawls I've found two variants: There is the one like the current stock Epi Thunderbird IV, it has black hardware and the same pickups. The other version is like a take on a vintage thunderbird, the pickups look (and I assume sound) more like the vintage ones, and the knobs and tuners have been replaced with more vintage TB styled ones. So my question is, which one is the limited edition, or are both? If so, how limited is limited, and realistically what is each one worth/what was it worth when it was new, based on which model it is? Pics are added below to clarify my terrible description. Thanks, Dan Edit: Arctic -> Alpine due to my stupidity
 12. evening bumpage - I appreciate there is now direct competition for this bass on this very thread section. For anyone who might be choosing between them, I would argue for not much more outlay you get a unique bass rather than an off the shelf model, which is nicer in so many ways, as well as a brand new case and fully insured shipping thrown into the bargain. and now on Warwick's official forum here: http://forum.warwick.de/24-bass-stuff/1492...de-germany.html
 13.
To you maybe, but for those that can appreciate the difference then, no! Why do so many players think that because their appreciation stops at a Precision bass, everyone else’s has to as well?
+1 The lack of prevalence of boutique gear at a gig is partly due to the fact that it is just that.....boutique - they're never going to be as common as your bog standard Fender or Ibanez, and as a result you're never going to see as many at gigs, especially on the amateur circuit.
 14. Never been in the sort of band you're after, but before I moved to London I was always approached by people who wanted me to play for them (I'm not that good just a lack of competent bassists in the area). Since I've moved to London, I noticed that for the 18 months I was first here, nothing of the sort had happened for me. Searches on 'bassists (or bass player) wanted in London' on Google gave me gumtree and other various music/bands board links, and I had a choice of about 8 to apply to, as it was I applied to two and got the first one, which is my current group
 15.
Plenty oil money up here, I've seen basses at pub gigs like Ken Smiths, Jaydees, high end Warwicks (saw an Infinity once at an open mic), Spectors (impossible to tell at range how "posh" it was though), quite a few USA Fenders, a few Gibsons (not my own!) but I've also seen/heard people getting great results out of Squiers, Ibanezes, Yamahas and other stuff. As for me, my Gibson G-3 has sparked the occasional after gig discussion (like "what is that?") and my not that spectacular rig (Hartke 3500 and Ashdown ABM 4x10) has generated positive comments after gear sharing from those who could be bothered seeking me out to say thanks. It's nice when people take an interest
An Infinity, at an open mic night? You have me agape, sir....
 16.
You should keep this and try and find a Warwick enthusiast. £1000 silly price to let that go for.
Tell me about it, even on the Warwick forum where this is now listed, little to nothing is moving for over the £1k threshold. I've rounded it up on there to 1200euros, should generate some interest I hope (and the equivalent on TalkBass). The condition let's the price down a bit, and I think the several hundred I have knocked off the price to reflect this is definitely more than fair. As much as I would like to sell this for more it just wasn't generating the interest at £1100 + case + shipping, and it needs to go so I can fund buying another one, if only I could win Euromillions tomorrow night.
 17.
I'd put money on countless bassists wanting this when it was viewable on the main page of warwick.de. Awesome that it belongs to a basschatter. Sign of the times that this hasn't gone yet.
Thanks for the kind words, Joe. I hope it goes soon too, the more this drags on the more it's killing me letting it go. I'm only selling this for another Corvette $$ 5 I have reserved (an SE with different woods), can't bring myself not to have a $$ 5! Agreed on the sign of the times part, sadly very true.
 18. hmmmm
 19.
Hi there. I had a Standard one, 4 strings, and it was amazing.... Would you consider a trade for a Musicman Bongo 5? Cheers.
Hi there lucatus, If I hadn't already got another one of these reserved for me, which I can only afford if I sell this one, then yes, I would definitely consider a trade for said instrument - I'm a big fan of Bongos and I'm definitely a 5 man. Have you got any details of your Bongo, colour, exact model/specs etc (photos would be amazing)? I might be interested should my current reservation fall through, though being honest I think this is very unlikely to happen. That said, your Bongo will probably fetch most of if not all of the price I am asking for this one if you sold it on here. If you put yours up for sale on here (and perhaps a few other places to increase interest) for a reasonable price etc then I wouldn't mind reserving mine for you until yours is sold, as per the deal I am doing with the one I am buying. Hope this helps, PM me if you want or discuss it on here, Dan
 20. Great price, mate! Someone take this it's a top piece of kit.
 21.
Will do. Its at my sisters in Preston at the moment but I collect it at the end of the month. So can't wait.
Or alternatively bring it along to the Bass Bash There are some serious bargains to be had out there. IMO mine is reasonably priced but I've still not even had an offer, and it's on here, TalkBass, eBay, Warwick forums....
 22.
Well I did manage to bag a bargain on Ebay. I got myself a fretless Warwick Streamer Jazzman, in natural in mint condition with hiscox hard case and all the Warwick accessories for a wonderful sum of £500. Proper German made and from 2005 I think. I just noticed that bass Merchant have updated their selection of Warwick they sell and they have the bass I bought for just under £2400
Wow, that is one hell of a bargain, congrats Linus. Great bass too! Give us pics when it arrives.
 23.
Get the Behringer BDI21 as a backup!
Blimey that thing is cheap. I might just do that. Happy Jack, you have yourself a PM.
 24. It sounds similar. Though the main differences I would mention are that with mine the noise was constant, rather than intermittent and happened whether I was playing or not. My PBDDI has three presets, each one is set to IMO the best clean tone for each of my main basses, I was just using the preset for this bass (which is active, possible link?). Also, my Sansamp was the only thing in the chain, no compressor or anything. I didn't DI into the PA, rather went straight into the bassamp without my sansamp in the chain. I always use a PSU, never seen the point in batteries in pedals, though I will try it with a battery when I get home from work to see if it makes a difference. Anyone want to lend me theirs? Or any DI box for that matter. I only need it for one morning!
 25. Don't hesitate to ask me anything if you want to know more about this special bass! Now going to chuck in a brand new £50 hardfoam case and fully insured shipping to anywhere in the UK. (Basically shaving £100 off the price).
