2.
Yvonne Strahovski, or as i like to call her, the future Mrs Silentbob.
If I wasn't already betrothed to Ksenia, also known as Miss Russia 07 and Miss World 08 (she doesn't know about the whole betrothal thing yet, or the whole me thing for that matter), I'd challenge you to a duel over 'the future Mrs Silentbob', but I'll leave you to your cheap aussie girl
 3. Dude, your new avatar is tragic. Makes me want to cry! Seriously guys, this'll be a great bass - why is there such a lack of Corvette $$ love at the moment?
 4. I've also found Laney are good. Glad Orange are too!
 5.
I must be out of touch, but who is the Avatar?
he told me the other day, and I forget now some actress from csi i think, or something similar
 6.
Birmingham for me, can't wait. Been waiting 20 years to see them.
dude, stop posting that avatar.....
 7. bump, offers considered if fair I will be less hasty in rejecting offers if you take more than one off my hands!
 8.
I am thinking of learning how to slap
Stop it. Stop it now.
 9. BRX you know that is properly effing cool don't you? Thing looks amazing!
 10.
According to the Tokai Japan web site the "metal finish" one is nickel plated, the coloured versions are lacquered. The hardware is all standard chrome plated stuff and fitted using what looks like chromed bolts. I've not noticed any reaction between the various metal parts - I've owned this bass for almost 5 years now. I've also got a Talbo Jr Guitar with the same finish on the body that I've had since 2002 and that doesn't show any signs of reactions between the various parts. However the nickel plating on the Talbo bass body seems to have reacted slightly with the adhesive of a sticker that used to be attached. It wasn't visible in any of the photos that were originally on the Ishibashi web site, but when the bass was transferred to there web sales department before it was shipped to me it was noticed and they sent me some new photos pointing it out. I got a reduction in price as a result and TBH when the bass turned up it was only barely noticeable if you knew where to look. I hope that answers any concerns that you might have. I guess if you want to see what the longer term durability is like then you should try and seek out one of the original 80s versions because if there are going to be any inter-metal reactions it ought to have shown up on those by now.
The nickel plated one is properly tasty. A lottery win and I'd be right on that! Which is yours? I assume being nickel plated though it gets properly toasty in the sun?
 11.
As for the Warwick buzzard. Pfft. Weighs a ton, ludicrously wide neck and rubbish circuit. Neck dives like a whale.
I read all of your post and bought it all. As much as I hate the look of this one (though I do like normal statuses), I completely agree with what you've said about it and the price, and the price of the one in question. However, the bit I've left in quotes had me in stitches, particularly the last part. Tempted to put it in my sig/the famous quotes thread....
 12.
They put on a fantastic live show... or at least they used to; I haven't seen them live in over 20 years. The moment when Eddie comes on stage is always a highlight!
They still do put on a great show. Just as full of energy as ever. If anyone is interested in seeing them with di'Anno but like me never got the chance, just go see his solo show, by all accounts he's living off past success with maiden, Blaze Bayley is the same.
 13. Going to see them on the last night of the tour (the extra one they added on) to the o2 in london. Sean (Maverick on here) is going the night before. Seen them three times before, the first time in 04, then again in i think 06/07 and again in 08. Not too sure if I want to know the upcoming set list or not. Be prepared for the show of a lifetime, these guys are one of the true great performers of our generation.
 14. Buddy you're more than welcome here, I'm terrible too, though I've not been playing as long as you (I'll still be just as terrible then so don't worry). If you get software like guitar pro, or less ideally powertab, it can be a great way to write stuff and communicate musical ideas with someone halfway around the world - or just in London like me. Whilst it's not as great as being in the same room, it is nice to let it flow like that, a webcam and skype can also be good to get to know the person you're writing with!
 15.
Thanks, thought I was missing something crucial such as it being made from holy wood from the cross or some such surprising value raising attribute. What would a sensible price for this be, anyone ?
Basses this rare are difficult to gauge. Anywhere from about 8-20k (pounds) seems reasonable, depending on the market, interest, condition, and any potential history attached to the bass that you can prove or not.
 16.
I've been massively underwhelmed by all the modern Gibson Thunderbirds I've played since the mid 90s. For me they just don't feel or sound like a 60s model. For some that might actually be an advantage, so if you like the current Gibson T-Bird then one of the older ones (and by extension the Lull T-Bass) might not be right for you. My problem with evaluating Thunderbirds and their clones is that they have match up playing-wise to my Overwater Original which IMO captures a lot of the vibe of the the T-Bird while being a far superior playing bass.
I'm only talking Epiphone here - they're sturdy, reliably, and relatively inexpensive (and therefore in the same category when fixing and mods come up). I'm too young and not in the right salary bracket (i.e. a student) to be able to only play Overwaters and Gibsons.
 17. A white epiphone thunderbird is [s]white[/s] what (sorry, I'm drunk) I'm after at the mo - though a JAE may be on the cards in the distant future now
 18.
It all depends what kind of a Thunderbird you want. The modern Gibson T-Birds do not sound the same as the Classic 60's models. The Mike Lull T-Bass is designed to be a substitute for the 60s version with what he considers the shortcomings of the original fixed. Some of these are definitely improvements such as the bridge and the balance. Others such as the neck joint are completely subjective. If you're used to Fender-style basses and like the classic 60s T-Bird tone then you should definitely be investigating the T-Bass. Shop price for a 4-string model is around $4000. However there's no UK dealer for Mike Lull so it might be possible to buy direct and get a better price. Alternatively you could look at a JAEbird.
That white one with the black pickguard and maple fretboard - you owe me new underpants, sir. Seriously though, this thread is my GAS-therapist's worst nightmare....
 19.
Yeah, the one with the pickguard and cover is the dream short of the cheapy looking white controls... But i'd survive. £3k eh? So that's how far off the mark I am, hopefully he doesn't stop doing them any time soon.
I think it wants a nice ashtray bridge cover too tbh still - porn is not cool on this forum, my god those are pretty
 20.
My wife doesn't let me play with young blondes any more Not me. Never knowingly gone acoustic.
Well the bass was electric, the young blonde was playing an acoustic though. Boy she was purdy. The bassist looked like you and had an ashdown 'endorsement' - so I thought maybe....
 21.
Are you sure??? - IMO the Warwick Dolphin is probably the best design they have...since selling mine I've found I've been craving another - thankfully no spare cash to satisfy the craving..it certainly isn't anywhere as fugly as this...
Sorry buddy, but I always thought the dolphin looked like you took a piece of paper to a skidmark, made a stencil, and then used that to make a bass body out of it,, whilst retaining the original colour scheme....
 22.
But then I'd have nothing to play on everyone else's amps!
I'll let you push my effects pedal buttons for me?
 23. Now, Andy, I'm not sure whether it's explicitly written in the forum rules, but I'm fairly sure it's an unwritten rule that you don't post pornographic pictures like that, I've a good mind to get a mod in to see this....
 24. Ok so I think I'm going to jump ship to a multi-fx such as the GT6-B, given I own a bunch of Boss this seems like a smart move. Firstly, all of the prices below are gonna be +£5 postage, mainly because it'll take me some effort or a bit of money or both in order to purchase some packaging materials from somewhere (stupidly chucked all my left overs out last week), and a slight compensation for Paypal fees. Cash on collection (London, SW6) is also possible. I would say that you can make an offer on anything (effects only) in my sig, and I'll consider it, if it's generous enough. Prices for stuff I'm actively looking to sell: • Boss CEB-3 (not working 100%) - [s]£25[/s] £20 I knackered this one somehow, not sure what I did. When you play through it you still hear a chorus sound but there's a little squealing noise over the top, and this keeps going when you aren't playing (last time I checked but will confirm later). To my amateurish electronics knowledge I would say this seems like one or two resistors have gone. These things cost pennies so if you have a soldering iron and know what you're doing, pick yourself up a pedal that goes for £45+ (second hand) each time on the cheap. • [s]I have one individual power supply thing (I got sold it with the overdrive), as I use a multi-one for them now. If you buy the above, it's yours for an extra £5 (no extra postage will be charged).[/s] I will now include the PSU free - that's just £25 posted incl. PSU • Boss ODB-3 - [s]£45[/s] SOLD You know what this is and you know what it does, great fuzz/dirt/overdrive for the money - a huge range of sounds but the fact it sounded like an instant Cliff Burton in the shop made me part with the cash there and then (if that's your thing), owned from new • Line 6 EX1 Expression pedal - what I paid for it - [s]£20[/s] SOLD • EHX Russian Bassbals, with the necessary extra power adapter - [s]£35[/s] SOLD Not really sure what to say here, just never used it much - great pedal if funk or that sort of experimentation are your thing, so I'm told. All of the above are in good to very-good condition, perhaps a coupla dings here or there but nothing major I can think of. Pics will be up tonight, but perhaps late as there is some work social thingy going on. Please don't hesitate to PM me with any questions. Once again I'm only shifting these to pay for a Boss multi-fx, I love the effects sounds so much I want more of them! I might be persuaded to part with the Q-tron+, and maybe (though very unlikely the SYB-5), but make me an offer if you really want. Note these might come on sale in the not too distant future if my multi-whatsit covers their bases too, I'm just unsure it will at the moment. Thanks for reading, Dan
 25.
Well, I had the selling form ready, but in reciting all of the things you can do with it and the prospect of ebay and paypal fees I delayed selling it to have one more go. However practicality must triumph as I have a new arrival due soon and too little space, so it will probably go on before long.
Ok well I might be interested if you want to dodge said fees - I've currently sent an offer to one on gumtree that is walking distance from me but have had no reply as yet (sent it last night), but if I hear nothing will certainly be keen, keep me posted!
