1. bump for the same reasons as, Paul. I have one and love it. You will not regret this buy (whoever is lucky enough to get it), such a wide range of sounds available, get it now whilst it's hot!
2. wow that big dots tuner is so cool, if i hadn't bought a rackmount korg tuner on here last week I would have it someone take it, it's a great price!
3. Bought a Korg rackmount tuner off Rick recently, it was as described and works a treat, not to mention looking all space age on my rig. Was so fantastically well packaged it took me half an hour to get the thing out, would recommend Rick's friendly service and packing skills to anyone! Dan
4. My warwick i think has the JANII, it snapped once in almost 5 years of ownership (only 6 months ago or so) and was repaired very cheaply by a proper dealer, I think with the same thing. Other than that, I've never had cause to even touch it (hell I didn't know it was adjustable until it broke and I looked it up). IMO that's a good thing, that it was set up just right, but I would say that if you don't need the adjustability, don't splash out on the extra.
5. I fancy getting my Warwick re done at some point, so would also be interested in the answers. I leant her to a friend for a gig, and he didn't take off his belt like I always do, so she has a few battle scars on the back. I also wouldn't mind getting her done in warwick's green, as I'm a little tired of the blue. Would the paint need to be special to still see the figured maple top/swamp ash back?
6.
Out of all the basses I've owned, gigged and parted with its the precisions I miss the most. I love my Warwicks but there will always be room for a P-bass. Its nothing to do with image, I'm too old and smelly to be bothered about all that stuff. But the Precision just has that tone that on occasions has made me turn around and smile at my cabs with that noise coming out of them.
I love the sound of a P, but can't get on with the fat neck, I used to borrow my bandmate's dad's special edition MIA and it was just the fattest of necks, can get on far better with warwicks, even the 5er neck on a warwick I find preferable, anyone else find this an issue? Obviously if you're playing very simple lines with root notes, it's not such an issue, but as soon as I got into anything fiddly, I always found it difficult on a P. Having said that, I do quite like fenders, and think I'll get myself a Marcus Miller sig or one of the nice FMT 24 fret jazz's one day. One thing, could someone please explain to me the general perception/concensus of the MIA/MIM/MIJ differences?
7. shameless last day on ebay bump the link again: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...T#ht_702wt_1139
8. Was thursday night but guess it's not too late. Ready to do a 45 minute set, been there all day. The bar is open from 5. No-one gets there til 9. Our set is pushed back and back until we're queuing the intro music as the next song and then the bar owner decides no bands should ever do sets over half an hour in his bar, so we cut two songs and decide to push our luck. Asides one or two bum notes the performance was alright, singer did not enough talking to the crowd and too much time fixing his hunk of junk instrument that couldn't keep it's tuning which irked me a bit. Sound on stage was awful, couldn't hear my backing vocals at all so barely bothered with them, and the bass was just a noise, apparently sounded quite good on front, and the soundman had warned us previously about the sound on stage. Guess it went down ok, bit annoying to see people turning up at 11.30, when we had finished, and the main band were playing. If everything had been on time, they'd have missed the main band too!
9. Wow, that is seriously pretty.
10. one day left on ebay bump - a great little amp, anyone want it?
11. If this is still around, I'll come and get it I reckon.
12. I'll take it, been desperate for one for my warwick for a while, PM'ed
13. Have a bump on me for a lovely lovely amp (she served me well at my gig last night, and the bassist of the headline band ditched their peavey for my one of these)
14. ebay auction ends sunday night bump!
15.
Cheers fella - I've had a few covert PMs overnight so they may be sold imminently but I'll let you know. N
Thanks man I'll keep you posted on my situation too
16. that nocto loco is unbelievable, I WANT ONE!
17. If my amp goes, Ill take the Sansamp. (It's currently on eBay with no bids and a few watchers, but there's a guy on here who PM'd me today for a shipping quote, which was under £15, so sounds likely it'll go)
18. There is now a FB event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=212149442139740 Come and see my new band and a couple of other great rock acts too. Promises to be a great night and hope to see some of you there!
19. We did have the one battle of the bands style gig, which was great fun, and a great crowd. Everything went fine, apart from me being about 15 16 and having braces, and a semi-broken mic that gave me an electric shock through my mouth whenever I went near it....
20. Bump, though possibly have a buyer.
21. Had a friend's birthday party, she booked the town hall, and had a few friends' bands lined up to play on the stage, I was merely in attendance. My good friend's band's bass player no showed, I was thrust a bass (already semi-pissed) and asked to go on stage, to play a bunch of covers I didn't know, a large amount of guesswork and copying the guitarists hand movements ensued, they also tried happy birthday, that was bad, I do not know how to play happy birthday. It got worse after we'd mucked through 4 songs and they were like, next song is this one....guitarist, who was new also, thrusts me the guitar and says, I don't know this one, I muck along to Pinball Map by In Flames, solo and all, not knowing a single note in the song. Awful experience, but pulled the birthday girl, jackpot! Had a bad one at a gig I organised, got a touring band coming over from holland for it along with a few others from all over the uk. I thought my a string was feeling dodgy in practice so changed it last minute. 30s into a very e-oriented song of around 5 minutes, my e-string goes, oh the irony. With everyone else in completely miles off tunings, I run off stage post song, rip a string off the previous band's bass and replace mine, the band wait a coupla minutes, but then crack on with the next song. I'm part way through winding my string when the solo comes. This solo has a very high bass solo, with the one guitar harmonised with it. There was no bass, there was my guitarist playing a harmony part alone, sounded dreadful. I emerged for the rest of the set, which was fine, I just wish they had thought not to play that song of all of them, without me!
22.
Hi Dan, Korg do their own plugins (which can be used as an instrument inside Cubase / Logic / ProTools / Reaper etc...) or as a standalone application (no need for any other software), and both work really well. The link to their website is HERE. think they're about £40 a pop, which is considerably cheaper and lighter than lugging an old Wavestation (or similar) around. I can heartily recommend the MS20. It's not easy to program, but there are loads of presets that are free to download from their site too. Cheers, Paul
Thanks Paul. So would I use that program on a laptop, either in logic/cubase or on it's own, and then use a midi keyboard like the edirol here through the laptop, to get the sound I want?
