What's happened to their website? It doesn't seem to exist anymore.

The English Muff'n is great. I have one and i don't know why you're selling it. A great guitar overdrive pedal and superb on bass. If you want to valve up a SS amp, this is it. Also excellent with tube amps too. It can go from very subtle to full on gain. What's good about it, is that it is sensitive to your attack (picking etc). So you can go from subtle to grind, depending on your attack. Stays very fat when you step on it.
Hmmm. Think guerilla - location recording in a good cheap room. 2nd hand mac g5 or powerbook, firewire interface, external drive, mics etc. Not dirt cheap, but doable. Call in favours, barter, swap. But equipment is only a part of it. Maybe the least important. Branding will be essential - consistent name/logo/cover art that matches the genre(s) and intended audience. And the bands - we're back to square one, but now you're the hard-nosed industry guy seeking out the acts with good marketing skills themselves. The task is to get started. And grow. You'll be 'underground' - like '60s garage/trash/rock'n'roll, so part of your appeal would be that you don't have a perfect (over-) produced sound. Gradually you'll get better kit.
Very true. We've recorded in a rehearsal room (session). Separated the amps a bit, used a Mac and admittedly some really decent mics. Sounded great to me. My own solo material is along the lines of trashy, 60s garage rock, so it suits guerilla/home recording well and that whole DIY/independent vibe.
How long is a piece of string?
Twice the distance from the centre to the end. But yeah, i would imagine starting small. ie not paying for studio time

Seasick Steve. He's older and seems to be enjoying some success. Seems pretty DIY too ^_^ This is a good thread. It brings back the idea, that i always wanted to start an independent record label. I wonder how much (money) you'd need to get something like that off the ground. Any articles on that sort of thing?

Cass and Skunk Anansie have been writing and recording their new allbum for a while now. I know, because they are often down the corridor from me. I see Cass about a lot where we rehearse. He's been there for ages, but of course now back with SA.

I find it funny (ha ha) that while Fender have raised their prices, Gibson have started to lower theirs. Smart move? I wonder if Fender are watching...
I thought that Music Ground moved into Andy's.
Indeed it has. I've seen Andy in there too, which i'm not sure is a good thing...
Want me to buy the CD? Give me a reason -- because the reason I and many others buy CD's is not for the music, it's the whole package -- music, album art, any extras, etc.
The Raveonettes album 'Lust Lust Lust' came with 3-D specs tucked inside, to look at the cover/back. A fun little gimmick. Like the original 'Sgt Pepper's' cut-outs.

True, a lot of music today is cack. The internet can be good for finding new bands, but today you have to wade through an almighty river of sh*t, because well, there are just more bands around nowadays. Ignore the 'music scene' that is pushed upon you. I for one, do not listen to the radio and haven't for more than a decade. Might i suggest checking out podcasts in particular genres of music, generally made by enthusiastic music fans with their fingers on the pulse and a huge vinyl/CD collection. Or alternatively, websites, blogs and labels. You can discover a whole world of new bands you had no idea existed.

I've owned one for a while and i play it through Aguilar DB cabs, which in my opinion are better than the Orange OBC 410s, to my ears at least. The no headroom is BS. Who would say that? I like simple amps and guitars with as few knobs, switches and pickups as possible. This is a simple amp, which sounds great when you first plug in (I use a US Precision btw). Thick fat valve tone, that very much does the job.

Orange are also bringing out new bass cabs. An OBC810 and three new 'Smart Power' cabs in 210, 212 and 410 configs. I guess these will go with the bass terror, as they're supposed to be smaller and more portable. more here

Ok so i will do some net research for one, but just in case people out there are in the know and can point me in a good direction. Basically i need a minimum, 4 channel mono mixer/maximum 8 channel, for putting my drum machine (stereo), bass and guitar (POD) through, so that i can monitor it all on headphones. It would be good to have two means of monitoring, ie for two people. So i'm thinking main output plus headphone socket. I was thinking like a little Mackie or the like with a few channel strips, basic eq etc, but it seems they are more expensive than i had anticipated. Any help appreciated.
Is the 200W Orange loud enough? I know its diff with the tube heads.
Loud enough for what exactly? It's 200W of tube power. Yes it's f**king loud. If i wanted to, i could drown out my drummer, guitarist and singer.
Lovely looking rig. Agreed about the eq. Fatter than a large hippo at an all you can eat diner. I really need to try out a old school P through this rig. I imagine it would sound delicious.
I play US Precisions through mine and an old 70s Mustang. All sound super lovely.

I love my Orange. Fat, thick, warm. I swear you don't have to touch the EQ even. It sounds great when you switch it on
