1. Ha ha, very funny and yet utterly ridiculous too.

Sandberg Basses

I've seen a Cal P with only 2 knobs on it, in the custom section, on their site. I'm guessing the second knob is just a standard tone knob, doing away with the separate bass and treble ones. I wonder then if it might be passive only. I don't know if i like the idea of spending a grand and having the volume knob permanently pulled out, to keep it in passive mode. I'd really like to know if they can build you a passive only bass.
3.
what are the tell tale signs its a scam? also what are we looking for to prove its legitimate?
Well, for one, the price is very cheap for a '64 P bass, no?. It falls into the "too good to be true" category and we know what that means. Secondly, you'd want to see the bass taken apart and shown neck and pot dates etc as well as a serial. Oh and it's on the London Gumtree site. The bass is in Scotland. Tricky to meet up hey.
4.
I find new Fenders to be a real turn-off looks wise. They're just designed to look battered!
I tend to agree. I realise i may be in the minority, but i just don't like 'shiney' guitars. Give me matt finishes or dulled lacquer any day.
5. But the ad says it's "an awesome player"
6. To think, my brother lives in NYC and could browse these shops, if he was in the slightet bit interested. I almost got him to pick me up a 2nd hand bass i saw online, in a shop local to him.
7. Er, lol. I had this exact amp in the early 90s.

I understand they are both active and passive via to the push/pull pot? I'm really only interested in passive. Do they still sound good when used passive or are they designed more for use with the active setting.

Thanks Voxpop, i previously found my way to their site when originally searching. I noticed you can order a custom one through them. Of course a good play one first is important. I might have to plan a trip to reading at some point
10. I'd be interested to try out a Sandberg P, the CAL P4 to be specific. Just the bog standard single pick-up model. Would anyone know where it's possible to try one in London? Or should i just forget about it?
11.
Whilst we're here, we might as well tackle the question of how long a peice of string is.
Twice the length of the centre to the end. Edit: i see someone has answered that one already. ^_^ I'd probably fork out 12-1500 for a nice custom shop strat. A little less for a bass, perhaps around a grand. Speaking of basses, why is it so hard to find the basic Sandberg CAL P4? They all seem to be the PM, PJ, or JJs.
12. An amber light and you have a full-on traffic light there.

14. It says American. I'm not surprised it's out of stock. I bet it'll be on ebay sometime soon though ^_^
15. The extended show will be on Friday night. I guess they'll do another tune.
16. KoL are on Jools Holland right now (BBC2)
17. They are on Jools Holland BBC2, right now (along with Kings of Leon)
18. It's released on 22nd September in the UK. I've heard a few songs off it. Sounding good. They're getting more epic and have moved far away from their first couple of albums. I think the biggest change is in Caleb's voice. He's losing his southern drawl with every album they do. Good on them for doing an album so soon after the last, too.
19. Yeah, Highways are good value. I've owned two Japanese Fender basses and i'm a lot happier with my US Fender bass. Fender's current new range are pretty good. I would say it is worth the cash (obviously look around for the best price) if it's going to be your main or only bass. If you are then going to buy another bass and then another, so that your US Fender gets ignored, then no, it's not worth it, because you won't be getting your moneys worth.

21.
Guess you won't be buying one of these soon then? http://www.warwickbass.com/basses/nobby_meidel.html Pity they don't do a 5er otherwise that'd be all your hates in one bass.
Lol, if i ever go canoeing, i'll give it a look in
22.
85% of people who say they don't like basses with more than 4 strings are just distasted because they either can't play a 5+ stringer well, or can't afford one. 10% are just saying it to be contrary or because they think it'll earn them 'bass cred'.
That sounds like 100% speculation to me.
