I've always been attracted by the size and weight of Markbass heads, but i'm put off my the supposedly 'sterile' sound. I hate carting equipment around though, so these would be so cool.

Does anybody know where i can find some log or info, which would tell me which standard colours were available with each batch of the Fender USA standard basses. For example, the 2008 range is different to the last (S1) range. Does anyone know where i can find the standard colours from the 90s? If this sort of info exists somewhere. The combination scratchplate would be good to know too. Thanks

I played a gig last week at the Barfly, which has a pretty generous sized stage and therefore room to move. I don't remember dinging my bass at all that night. However, i just pulled out my bass now, to start noodling. I looked down after a few minutes and saw a great big ding on the frontside upper horn! It's my US Fender Precision, so not a cheapy. I was a bit shocked at first, but then it is my main gigging/workhorse bass. I don't mind achieving that well played/worn/gigged look. Guitars are meant to be played. As long as it's only cosmetic damage, it's ok. Bizarrely i now think it needs some more, so that it doesn't look like a one-off, lol.

Yup, sadly this has been the case for a while now.

Well this is what i'm thinking. No two guitars are the same. You could test out a nice example and then order in a howler. Naturally, the opposite could be true too

I was just wondering, specifically on more expensive basses, say £500 upwards, if you're willing to spend more to be able to test out a bass in a shop (and walk away with it), or save, by purchasing blind (a possible gamble) over the internet. Personally i don't mind spending a little more, to be able to test it etc. What are your preferences/thoughts? And how much more would you be prepared to pay over net prices. Edit: hmm, i thought i was in the General Bass discussion. Perhaps it's more suited there mods. Sorry.

Larrikin. I'm also looking for a white one. I'd rather it used than new. If it becomes too difficult or expensive, i may settle for a studio or the Gibson Gothic. I was informed the other day that Gibson don't ship over white ones, as the warranty on the finish becomes void. Something to do with the finish possibly cracking/discolouring during air transport. I have no idea if this is correct. I wonder therefore how i managed to buy a classic white SG bass (same nitro finish) here in a London shop, a couple of years back. I can get a shop to go to the states to get me one, but they're quoting me pretty much the RRP.

Here are some pedals of mine up for sale. All are in fully working condition (just tested them) and come in their original boxes. Paypal or cheque is fine, or indeed, cash on pick-up, if you're local (central London). Zvex Woolly Mammoth (immaculate condition, only used at home, original WM artwork ie pre-current one) *SOLD* Boss AC-2 Acoustic Simulator (Good condition. Had this for years but only used a few times) £35 Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer *SOLD* DOD FX25B Envelope Filter (Good condition) *SOLD* DOD FX68 Super Stereo Chorus *Withdrawn* Oh and could possibly be up for trades, for example EHX pedals eg Small Clone...

Another day, another bass pops up for sale. The time has come for me to sell my beloved SG bass. I'm in no rush to sell it, as i do really like it, but it's just not being used. The reason is it doesn't suit my current band and i would like to raise funds to purchase my dream bass, a classic white Gibson T-bird. Incidentally, this is the only bass therefore that i would be interested in part exchanging with. A London pickup would be preferred, but i am happy for you to organise a courier pick-up from my work address. Right, some background. I bought this bass from new in a shop (ie not online) in London in 2006. This means it was subjected to my hawkeye check at the time I still have the receipt too. I haven't use it much, as i purchased it towards the end of my last band. It hasn't been gigged or rehearsed with, since early 2007. Just home noodling use. So here it is, my mint condition, made in the USA, Gibson SG reissue bass. It comes in classic white (a nitrocellulose, matt finish), which was a limited edition finish and is now quite hard to find. I bought this from new in 2006 and it has had very, very light use. It has no dings or dents at all. I am sad to see it go, but i am just not using it (a waste for any Gibson). It was great for my previous band, but my current band requires a different sound, meaning this beauty gets left out. If i was bandless and just sitting at home noodling, this would be the bass for me, and it would be going nowhere, as it plays so sweetly. I've had Thomastik flatwound strings (£30 plus strings, pictured) on it for a lovely woody, thumpy sound. However, a few days ago i put on a set of spanking new, short scale roundwound GHS Boomers (50 70 90 107). You can have either, or both sets if you like. This 30.5-inch scale (short scale) bass has two humbucker pickups and delivers a nice, deep rounded tone. If you're reading this you'll probably know about Gibson's EB3 (the bass this reissue is based on) and perhaps who has used them in the past (very much a classic rock icon). Jack Bruce fron Cream, Ron Asheton of The Stooges (listen to the album 'Raw Power' that's an EB3 thumping away) Free bassist Andy Fraser, to name but a few. The short scale mixed with the solid mahogany body and slim, rounded neck profile, makes the bass fast and thunderous. You can really get around the neck with ease and get some great grooves going on. With flatwound strings and a pick, you can get that "French pop" sound, a la 'Air' or 'Serge Gainsbourg.' As pictured, the bass comes with a Gibson case (also in mint condition) which has a matching white plush interior. I'd like to get £650 for it, which given it's great condition and rare finish, seems fair. Let's see. Sorry to start a thread on it, i know i should post in the courier one, but i fear it wouldn't be seen in time, as i need some advice/answers asap. If i was to have a bass shipped via DHL from the US to the UK, would it be DHL all the way? ie it wouldn't get handed over to Parcelfarce at some UK depot would it? Also, what does this mean for customs? I read somewhere that with some couriers like DHL, you get the goods first and the bill after the delivery, unlike Parcelforce who hold the goods and send you a bill first. Much appreciated Tee

I'd say the classic white one on the bay was cooler Depends what you want from the bass. Very easy to play and fast, imo. You can really get some cool grooves going on, as it's a doddle to get around the neck. I happen to like the SG shape, so i think it looks pretty cool. Not for everyone though. Some people may argue it's too muddy, not if you use the bridge pup though. Great for classic rock. Sounds great with flats (thumpy sound) but equally good with roundwounds. Last but not least - they're different. I got loads of compliments at gigs for mine.

Bah, it's not even boxed. You want mint? THIS is mint!

I like to refer to them as Dolphin "email me when x is in stock" Music ^_^ I once made an enquiry about a product and never got an answer. Superb service!

Some would say, you've just added some "Mojo" ^_^

I here you OTPJ. I had a Geddy and it wasn't great, output wise (not to mention the dodgy tuners imo). Suffice to say, my 99 MIM Jazz was a lot better (wish i hadn't sold it). A lot of people here seem to like US Fender-bashing, i imagine due to the price tag. Yes, Japanese Fenders are built superbly but in my experience having owned both Japanese and US basses, i have to say i am a US fan.
Guys, this is an amazing piece of kit. I know it's a fair bit of money to part with, but it's exceedingly low for what it is. I'm sorely tempted myself! Free bump either way. Mark
I'm not familiar with Bergantinos. What makes this mere 1x12 warrant the price tag? I see a few extras on the back of the cab there.
