Hello all, I got a new rig recently, so i'm offloading my Ampeg plus a smaller combo. I'm looking to sell these two bass combos, both pick up only please, as i don't have a car. I'm located in central London. Firstly an Ampeg BA500 (made in USA) A real gigging workhorse. I've owned this from new. It must be about 18 months old. It's loud at 350W @ 4ohms (with its 2x10), but it can go louder when you add another cab, when it pushes 500W at 2ohms. It's heavy, but is has removeable wheels, which are very handy. Generally you'd want a hand lifting it, but i've managed to lift the thing in and out of the back of cars on my own, when necessary. It has small signs of wear and tear, which is to be expected, but nothing drastic. I'd like to ask £500 for it. (cash only please) Spec: RMS Power Output: 350-Watts with Internal Speakers RMS Power Output: 500-Watts with Extension Speakers LF Driver: 2 x 10" Speakers HF Driver: 1" Compression Driver with Level Preamp: Solid-State Power Amp: Solid-State Tone Controls: 3-Band EQ Mid Tone Control: Ultra Mid Balanced Line Out: Yes, Pre/Post Send, -20dB Pad Preamp Out/Power Amp In: Yes Effects Loop: Yes Dimensions (W x H x D inches): 24 x 23.5 x 17.25 Weight: 86 Pounds (39Kg) Secondly, a Trace Elliot Boxer 65 (made in Great Britain) I have also owned this from new. I bought it in 1999 and it is in great condition, because it has never left the house and has always sat in a bedroom and never moved. It's a 65W 1x12 bass amp, perfect for home practice or for acoustic/jazz gigs. It has a headphone jack too, in case you're interested. £100 and it's yours. (cash only please) thank you

I've noticed however the exact same listing for it a few days later by a different seller (not the guy who bough it either). Do you think it's dodgy?

Lol, no it's not Gordon's bass.
This is the seller that our pal with the refin'd 74 Jazz is having "issues" with, isn't it? A: Yes.
LOL

Sure it's nice, but what a ridiculous price for a guitar.

It's a DB210. Personally i'd like the DB810, but i don't have roadies Edit: I see you have the DB112s. They're narrower and deeper than the 210s.

Cheers My main bass is this USA Fender Precision

So after much 'umming and arring' and considering different combinations of heads, cabs, makes, weights and depths, i finally got my new head and cab. Ladies and gentleman, i give you "ORANGUILAR!!" *rips off covers* Well, i like it. Thick Valvey tone and sweet DB series cab, which when you turn it on it's side, becomes a mini SVT-AV cab I've also gone and bought a folding trolley, to cart it around with. Expect to see my Ampeg combo up for sale soon

Probably not a help, because i'm in London, but i rented an SVT CL and Ampeg 8x10 (woohoo) from FX Rentals. They deliver, set up and then collect again (for a fee of course) or you can pick it up and take it back. I think they might only service London/Greater London though. Open 24hrs too. Crikey! 450 tube watts. Suitable for home practice then

Those PJ cabs always make me think of the Daleks Or is it just me?

When my gran died a while back, she left me a little bit of money. I put it towards a guitar i craved since i was a teenager, a Gibson SG standard. It only seems right to name it after her. I like to think a little bit of her spirit is in the mahogany.

In my experience, my Tbird always sounded a lot bigger/fuller/meatier than any Jazz i have ever owned (MIM & Geddy Lee). Despite it being my cheapest bass, i cannot part with it, even though i don't play it now. I'm sure i'll pick it up again. I wish i didn't sell my '99 Jazz now.

Meh, which one is it?

Now THIS is what a Precision should sound like..
Tee replied to wateroftyne's topic in General Discussion
There are so many bands these days that get away with ripping off bands that did it so much better. eg Oasis -> The Beatles, The Enemy -> The Jam, Kaiser Chiefs -> any nursery rhyme, to name but a few. The kids these days just have no idea and can't put two and two together. Sorry, this has nothing to do with the original post. I do remember it being discussed before on the boards with an ensuing P/Jazz argument though. -
A Columbo-like, "one more thing." I know the ABM 500 head has one speakon and one 1/4" output. What do the ABM cabs have? Does it mirror the head config? If they're only 1/4", i guess i'll need one speakon to 1/4" cable then.

Yeah, i've also heard about the supposed merits of 2x 210s. As i said, i'm a fan of four 10 inch speakers. 2x 210s ought to give a punchy sound, plus use the amp's full power. Ta
-
That is certainly an influential factor - portability, space etc. One 410 wouldn't be as good as the 210+115, powerwise though. Plus, i guess for smaller gigs, one could just take one of these cabs (less hassle). At the moment, my amp is only a (heavy) 350W 210 combo (Ampeg BA500). Hmm, what about 2x 210s?
-
Looks like the two (210+115) together might be the better option then. Has anyone played through Ashdown's ABM 4x8s?
