I'm just curious as to how long some people have waited, or have been waiting, for a particular bass you've been after, to become available. I'm talking used/vintage and not a GAS bass, but one you've always coveted. Was it instant? A few years? Did it turn up when you least expected it/weren't looking? I have 2 or 3 different makes/models i'm always looking for, but i've been trying to find a CS '55-57 type precision in sunburst (an original is out my price range), or a lightweight and affordable '68 Tele bass. Dealer ones seem to be quite pricey. Anybody find their bass? Are you still looking? Did you give up? Did it turn out to be what you wanted?

I really don't like the look of the 2017 EB. I wish Gibson would issue some new basses with one pickup only, placed in the sweet spot, rather than two pickups either side of it.

That lacquer still looks really glossy. I know what you mean though. The only thing I'd change on my US standard, is the body finish from poly to nitro. I've had it since new, 8 years or so and it's not really wearing
And what the hell is a 'professional' bass?
I think it's a bit lame when a company puts 'professional' or 'pro' in a product's name. Most 'professionals' tend to use industry 'standards' in whichever field.

Still looking for a 2015 CS '55 Precision in two tone sunburst. Or maybe a Gibson SB300/400.

I've learnt that it's looking impossible to find the bass I'd like to purchase.
I guess that £1500 for an American made, passive Fender bass is about the going rate.
Astounding, as it's almost twice the amount as back in 2008 (with the then, newly upgraded USA standards). Which is not all that far away. I did notice that Fender realised that they overpriced their recent PJ Mustang offset basses (in the UK), shaving off about £220 from the original price.

I think Fender's 2008 update to their Standard range was great, some true upgrades. I kind of think that if you own a 2008 up, you don't really need to look at these, as they don't really offer much of anything 'better'. Of course, if they were to offer some enticing colours, that could be enough to swing it but they haven't really managed that either.

The Rothwell 'Love Squeeze' is simple (two knobs) and absolutely silent.
I've potentially got the opportunity to pick up a pair of Aguilar db112s. Anyone got any experience with putting the otb500 through this setup before?
I regularly gigged an Aguilar DB210 cab, both with my OTB500 and AD200B before that. It was always more than enough/plenty loud. I hardly turned up far on either amp.

Hmm, the Olive green reminds me of bad 70s bathroom suites though.

It's a shame the Precision doesn't come in Sonic Gray. I'm not sure I'm keen on the Olive Green and the other colours are, well, what I would associate with a 'standard' range - black, white, 3TSB. I think Fender dropped the ball on the colour choices, given this is not a 'standard' series.

I've noticed the Offset Mustang PJ bass price has dropped significantly. Fender now advertising £539, with most UK shops selling at around £517. I'm sure these were around the 700 mark just days ago (Richtone music currently has one at £732), which was obviously a crazy price. RE the Pros. Was it too much to ask to have a Burgundy Mist colour option?

MIMs are perfectly capable basses (good enough for Ben Shepherd for example). However, what I like about the MIAs eg USA standard, are the little things like the thicker headstocks (more wood), quality pickup, rolled fingerboards etc. I always find that the 'little differences' in gear, reveal themselves at gig volume/situations. I think Fender upped their game from the 2008 USA standards onwards. The Pro series aren't a direct replacement for the USA standards, but they will fill that gap. I'm sure the USA standard will return at some point.
New pickups (what was wrong with the custom shop 60s?), revised neck profiles and a couple of new colours. Better to get a bargain on a new American Standard...
I guess as this is not the 'Standard range' anymore, rather 'Elite' like 'Deluxe' etc, hence new noiseless pickups.

Why are the toggle switches so damn huge on this series? You could have an eye out with them. A few more details on the bass (smaller tuners, rounded pickups) and it would look less clumsy.

I was there too. Great gig.

One of the coolest rigs i've ever used was an old Peavey Mark III/IV Series head, on top of a Peavey 2x15 cab. It was awesome.
I still rate the WT550 as the best solid state head I've ever owned. Brilliant preamp
This was on my radar, way back when i got my OTB 500. It still is and i'd like to A/B one with a LMIII.

Advice on changing from Markbass to TC Electronic...
Tee replied to lastanthem88's topic in Amps and Cabs
Are you saying the LM3 has a more pleasing tone/body/feel to your ears? I like the idea of the multi band (spectra)comp on the TC though, built in tuner etc. But i would probably take better tone over features at the end of the day. I'd say the DI out tone/quality is pretty important to me due to its use live/recording. But i guess the DI quality is directly related to the quality of the preamp (pre-EQ). -

Is it reasonable to compare the LM3 to the RH450, if you were in the market for a head like that? The TCs look feature rich, but what is the TC 'sound' exactly? Likewise what is the MB sound? I've heard warm and articulate for MB. Any other view or descriptions?
