Has anyone got an M3 yet?
I have a black M3. It has the same pre as the V7 model but with a mahogany body and a roewood fingerboard. Overall it's a very nice bass. -
Just noticed that there are quite a few B-stock V7's listed at the Thomann site right now (almost all of them are white , with a 30 Euro reduction in price), does this mean that all of those basses were returned by customers or are there other reasons why Thomann would list them as B-stock? Personally i wouldn't worry if there was one listed as B-stock as there's always a chance someone ordered one but then returned it because they didn't like the colour or something and decided to order another one, but as there are already at least 5 listed as B-stock atm , so short after the release date, i'm starting to wonder why people would return them in such high quantities? maybe there's an issue with some of the basses??? Not that would be a big problem as i can still return mine as well (once it get's here as my order was delayed due to some problems with he bank transfer), but still this might be food for thought...
There are not that many in circulation from orders for it to be customer returns. -
I just don't understand it. Ampeg come out with massively unreliable Class D amps and people defend them to the hilt. Ashdown come out with new technology and everybody uses this as a chance to get the boot in. If British bassists defended British manufacturers the same way American bassists defended theirs then this forum would be a slightly more positive place perhaps. Not sure we need pages of Ashdown bashing, and I'm glad to see a rep coming on here and kicking some backsides.
I agree.
I really see it as Squier raised the bar, Sire are just offering alternatives at the same price point. Not convinced about needing a 18volt preamp (it will cost more to run), but it's nice to have it on offer at this price point IF you want one. Personally I'd have preferred a passive bass at an even cheaper price. Not knocking Sire or the bass, I just don't see it standing out above the rest as much as some do.
Does Squier offer a model with such a active pre amp? The pre is very sensitive and at the slightest turn of any knob and a huge difference in tone or volume is detected, The 18 volt system in this perticular brand of bass does show a huge sighn of difference in the head room department. The qaulity and attention to fret dressings is up there with basses costing a lot more. -
IMO you can tell its a cheap bass, small tell tale signs
What are these small tell sighns that let's you know that it's a cheap bass? -
One question remains...how are Sire able to actually manufacture such a good quality active instrument at such a low price point?
Sire owns the factory where the basses are made. -
it's an Ashdown, they'll never get rid of the VU meter as it's their thing.

Out of interest, who are the top three?
I don't want to say but the top three are long standing USA companies.
-
Time will tell. No offence to Ashdown, but it's years since they were thought of as a premium brand.
Ashdown happens to be the fourth selling brand of bass amps in the world. Some ones buying it and and the three ahead of Ashdown happens to be much larger companies and have been in the amp game longer than Ashdown has and that says a lot about a little tiny company such as Ashdown in how ther'ye able to hang with the big boys.
It does indeed. Nice playing as well. Do you gig with this bass?
Thank you and I really do like the bass. The overall qaulity of the bass is top notc and even though sound is subjective the bass is extremely versatile and at the most slightest turn of any of the knobs on the pre you will hear a difference in tone. -
I will know soon enough, I hope.. I have two of the Alder/Rosewood/TBS jazzes on order at Thomann right now, both a 4 and a 5 string, Wasn't sure which one to go for and Thomann doesn't mind customers sending stuff back once in a while (especially because I've already spent a small fortune in that place over the last few years...) so i ordered both of them with the intention to try them out, maybe make a little review of them and then keep the one i like most and sent the other one back as i can only afford to keep one.. (The 4 stringer could be a good go to slap-bass i think, but being realistic i have more need for the versatility of a 5'er a.t.m., so if the 5 string feels and sounds good and if the B string is as tight as Jauqo says , then that will be probably the one i keep.) I'll report back as soon as I've tried them out.
Your thoughts on the bass will be greatly appreciated. -
Seems like MM & Fender are done doing business together (found this on the website of some local music stores), could that mean that Sire might also come out with a higher end, more aimed at a pro market signature model if the budget line goes well?? I sure hope so..
With all due respect please understand the only thing that is budget about the new Sire MM J bass is the price. If this bass was made in the US or the UK the asking price would be at least three times what Sire is asking. Sire is already offering the higher end version.
