Newbie advice please - moving to the US - should I get a new bass?
Jazzneck replied to Lardy's topic in General Discussion
Fender MIM or a Squier Classic Vibe would be my suggestion.
Wot he said.
'Sfunny.. the original question was 'should I get a new bass?'.. not one reply suggesting to just wait for the container to land!
C'mon, this is Basschat, innit? -
The old maple/rosewood topic - but with results from the Herts Bass Bash
Jazzneck replied to Lozz196's topic in Bass Guitars
I was there, voted and was as surprised by the results, much like Lozz was. But then again, my ears are absolutely shot....... -
And a Massive Thank You to all of you for a smashing day out, particularly Mick, Chris, Lozz and the team who put it all together. I had a great time and I'm sorry if I bored you all. ....and Bluejay, if you publish any pics. showing how fat I am, I will sulk! Now off to watch the footie..... Thanks again, Y'all.

Sam, I really feel for you having gone through this myself. Mum always comes first, be strong for her and the family. On a brighter note - watch out, I'm on my way.

"Double bookings".... Fuming isn't the word
Jazzneck replied to Modman's topic in General Discussion
Bury St. Edmund's a fair few years ago. We arrived and doing our load in when another band turned up claiming it was their gig, too. Polite words with the landlord didn't get us any closer to an understanding. So us and the other band had a chat, after which both bands loaded up and moved on down the road where we set up an impromptu Jam in another pub. Had a great time, passed the hat around and got enough for burgers and other fuel on the way home. Original pub never put on a live music night again and gradually went downhill whilst the second pub has gone on to bigger and better things - funny that, innit? -
Precision, in fact my Limelight will not be going anywhere without me. Ampeg AEB-1 - yup, it took me a long time to "get it" and it's weird but I love it.
You mean the mayor of his City was called "Jazzneck"?
No, you stoopid pirrock, it's Pee Body.
-
First trip to the US, the immigration officer opened up my passport, looked at it, looked at me and then told me it's wrong. What? He said that it couldn't be me coz the mayor of his city has the same name as me and he's black and I'm white!

Woke from an operation to remove a cyst from my ball bag only to hear the hospital DJ playing Jerry Lee Lewis singing "Great Balls Of Fire". My missus couldn't work out why I was laughing, she thought it was the intravenous painkillers having an affect.......

The tale of Jamerson recording laying flat on his back is priceless......

One tiny patch of carpet on the bare wooden stage...
Jazzneck replied to Dom in Dorset's topic in General Discussion
This method works less well on tiled or concrete floors and stages. How do I know this..? Well, er (hurrumph...)...
Your name's not Paul by any chance? Oops, sorry, that Paul sadly passed away some time ago. -
Unless I'm missing some kind of joke , the carpet is there for that exact purpose. Drumkits tend to slide away when you play them unless they're on a rug or piece of carpet.
In the olden days our drummer used 4 x 6" nails and a length of bog chain. 2 nails into the floor in front of his bass drum. 2 nails behind him to anchor the bog chain which held his hi-hat in position. There were a few jarred-off landlords and Town Hall managers in the Bucks / West End / Berks / Oxon area who were not happy with holes in their floors and stages though. -
We Wuz There - and this was as atmospheric as F**K. This number was worth the price of the ticket on it's own IMHO. https://www.youtube....h?v=LY_hyG1wTaU

Be careful Bubinga, it's not really your bass to sell, is it? I suggest that you get the mods to get in contact with the owner on your behalf - they do have more means of identifying him or her. Just trying to keep you out of trouble in case it all goes pear shaped.

Nathan East with Clapton last night at The RAH was superb. "Can't Find My Way Home" was sublime and was worth the price of the ticket on its own. Oh, and Andy Fairweather- Low and The Lowriders were the support so I got to see Dave Bronze on the same bill, too. As usual, he was bl**dy good. Great night out......

Who is the most famous British Bass Player?
Jazzneck replied to Jonnyboy Rotten's topic in General Discussion
Can he play Metal? -
OK people, it was me that started this argument trying (angrily) to quell the witch hunt and point out that the actions taken had unexpected and unwanted spin-offs. I also stated back in post #165 that, like the OP, I want to draw a line under the discussion. My views are still the same. Some people on BC, just like in the real world, are more pragmatic and easier going than others. Just let's leave it at that, shall we? I think stuckinthepod and I have had enough, thank you.
