1. This is from the crazy part time trio I play in, not to be confused with the covers band and blues band which both gig pretty regularly. Our basic set list in alphabetical order - other numbers do turn up randomly, on the spur of the moment, as the mood takes us. Three piece with a great singest/guitarist/ukulele/banjo/slide/cigarbox etc. Drummer uses a Gig Pig with some wierd old cymbals, whistles, bashing and shaking things. Sad thing is that we only play together about twice a year, no pukkah rehearsals - just a count in (usually in xs of 150 mph) having shouted the title and key and off we jolly well go. Total fun with no pressure. We've been described as a traincrash between Ry Cooder and The Pogues. 2.
Welcome . I'm often around High Wycombe, believe me, you aint missing much!
You're right, I moved out in 1978. Walcome from another one who was born in High Wycombe and who was very fortunate to play in Blues Etcetera on West Belmont in the olden days, albeit only three numbers as a "guest".
3. That Jazz looks great. Here's the fatman playing de blooze with 00139 on Friday night...
4.
Voila! No: 00139, elle vit!
So, gig last night with a catchup blues/r'n'r band. Halfway through the first number the singest leaps round and asks "What are you playin'?" Me: " 'Every Girl I See' in E. Why? What are you playing?" Singest: "No, you t*t, what's the bass? It sounds bloody fantastic!" I smiled and felt happy...... 'Nuff said, really.
5. stingrayPete1977, on 01 December 2014 - 09:34 PM, said: Did they have any other guitar stuff? Yup, I bought one of their Western Steel String guitars for £35.99. Dreadnought size, laminated wood, intoned bridge , adjustable truss rod, bound 'rosewood' board, gloss heavy metal black and plays like a good'n. Stays in tune and intonation is pretty damn good. Great for a cheap blues finger picker / slide tool.
6.
I see your Fender mug - and I raise it with my Pink Floyd DSOTM 40th anniversary mug
Mines even older and uglier.....

8. No Jack, they are quite light, not like some other Ampeg kit My current one weighs in at just on 7lb.
9. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5b08080427 This is my old one which I was looking to buy back a few years ago and I couldn't find it. I did find another..... It's now up for sale again and if it has not been messed with; it is a bloody good AEB. No affiliation with the seller but if you want something different to play blues, country, Americana etc. you won't go wrong with this one.
10.
Here's mine, No124 58, Jazz neck. It's a wonderful Bass and I couldn't be any happier with it. Sadly, If my Warwick doesn't sell then this might have to go.
Be patient and sell the Warwick.
11.
Is that a Fender logo on the headstock? Guessing you added that yourself as I thought Mark had stopped doing them?
The ghost of RL Spencer applied it - why do you need to know?

13. Well, I now have the best bass I have ever played - no. 139. .....and it sounds very like a Slab66 through my V4BH 410 rig too Roll on the next gig.
14.
Nice one! Very funky. Nylon strings ?
Thanks, Nylon Strings - Trubass 88 by Rotosound
15. I said I was never going to post on BC again but my Limelight P is ready and it should be logged IMHO so: CAR with maple, parchment scratchplate and Trubass strings. I collect it in week 2 November.
16.
It will get worse before it gets better and it will have f**k-all to do with whether one can get a particular instrument in Candy Apple Red.
......and this is why Mark is making a Limelight for me at this very moment...........
17. Interesting but price does not equal cost. Most successful businesses seem to focus on maximizing quality whilst minimizing cost, keeping overheads low and giving the customer what he wants. Fender may have missed the point that the majority of the Fenderphiles out here want 50s or 60s Teles, Starts, Ps and J's in classic custom colours. Why not sell off the dross, clear the debt and concentrate on a limited range which suits the market, keeping the CS for specials. I suspect they are too big and clever to do that
18. Keep the bass and save the money to buy a good amp when you start gigging.
19. Interesting culture difference. More than once in the UK, at a proper paid gig, a punter has paid us an extra £100 to play for a further 30mins. I wouldn't normally call this a tip, maybe an overtime payment? OTOH, I was invited up to jam a few numbers in Memphis TN and afterwards was told to get myself a drink with cash from the 'Tip Hat' front of stage.
20.
This says it all for me...........
Thanks Beta, I had never heard this before - IMO absolutely amazing, almost perfection and it made me cry just listening to it. The over produced Beeb version nearly made me cry for the opposing reason. Each to their own, I guess.
21. I've had this problem on reliced bridges before (not from Mark, but my own jobbies). The Jazzneck trick now is to give them a tiny squirt of WD40 immediately after the relicing is finished and work the threads on every screw before fitting the strings. Assembled bridge then wiped dry with a soft cloth and I end up with unaffected more realistic relicing and WD40 lubrication on the screw threads. I will do this as soon as I have my mits on my Limelight P assuming, of course, that Mark has not already done so. Getting exited now, only a few more weeks to wait.
22. Well said, Nige - but I do prefer Banksy.
23. Mark is in process of building a P bass for me. Yes, it will be reliced because I like 'em like that. The spec is a little bit different - I'll post pics when I get it. Happy Jack's to blame........................
24. Sound like rock'n'roll to me. Where's the second gig? Can we come and watch you fall over as the last note is hit, please?
