1. class D = not for me. Had D class amps that came close, but none had the heft of my old A/B amps. Looks incredible though.
2. There is something incredibly wrong about taking things out on musical instruments, never got the Who/Nirvana/Muse etc breaking of guitars either. And especially not out of spite.... boooooooohhh.
Speaking of damaged Stingrays, I picked this up a few years ago from a lad who explained that he had upset his then missus who had taken it out on his bass. Doesn't look too bad from the front... but it looks like she tried a Simonon special from the back. She also scratched "Thank you!" into what was left of the paint on the back. I didn't ask what she was so thanful for It's a great player though and the neck survived intact, so no real harm done. I've thought about having it refinished but it brings a smile to my face thinkong about what the guy did to get that reaction. It's part of the charm of that instrument, now. There isn't another Stingray quite like it. To be honest, I find it quit funny that a drummer could travel three feet across a floor by drumming alone to damage your bass. It's a story for a few laughs over a beer in the future.
3. Much smaller market = less money = fewer updates. Unfortunate really.
4. Quite interesting though, whilst my 2 212s have enough spread and are at ear height, having one next to my vocal mic would potentially be really good as an enhancement tool.
5. I had a PA stand fall on my Stingray (years ago), with the safety pin that fixes the height digging into the back of the body. I'd had it for a week. Gutted, but 10 years of use later it wasn't the only ding....
6. Next time bring a cucumber and a pot of vasaline to the studio, tell him the next damage he causes to your bass is punishable with cucumber.......
7. Yes, just read the news..... RIP
8. Nice, the old "annoying twit spoils another gig" strikes again. Unfortunately comes with the turf.... most (NOT ALL) programmers/bookers are useless musicians that resort to booking bands in a futile attempt to fill their not so musical boots. They get a little fascist on bands generally...Move on.... ;p
9. Love mine, buy it if you like Muff based fuzz, you will not be disappointed.
10. Love the slight distortion too. Great bassist.
11. Rdiculous! I absolutely detest thieves..... May karma strike them down and hope they get nicked.
12. Suffragette City And I love love LOVE the bass line in China Girl A sad sad day...
13. Gutted, mankind has lost one of the greats. RIP Mr. Bowie
14. Great stuff, I like the tone of it. It is less grindy than a B3K and the switch B15-Hi Gain is a cool feature. I never liked the DG VMT much it never felt as if the dirt and clean gelled. it appears this may be a great alternative to that pedal and would be a good in addition to the B3K on my board.
15. Great to see someone now has the Pike's to check out! For the rest I see all of this is down to a number of bad decisions made by the owners/CEOs of 2 companies and neither is any better than the other. BassDirect should have kept on selling the Pike's, business is business. Or he should never have started selling them in the 1st place. All he has achieved now is raise lots of question marks about his reasoning for stopping all of a sudden. Mark sort of got himself caught up in this as well now.. And lets not forget this entire thing is about as important as deciding what colour socks to wear in the bigger scheme of things.
16. I loved the tone of my Decade Skyline, this can only be even better... Lovely.
17. To me it is like Rolls Royce bringing out an MPV. $4000 for a P, not in a million years. But that is me, there will most certainly be a market for it.
18. Been doing 30-40 gigs per annum for many years now. Used to own lots of basses, now down to only 3. A 4 string PJ and 5 string JB which I will generally take to all the gigs, a Mono double keeps them safe. My 3rd is an acoustic that rarely gets used. I must say that I like having fewer basses, makes things much easier Basses wear, it's all mojo imo.
19. Yes, Dunlops, Schallers, Warwicks.... Personally I often use Dunlop flush mounts, least leverage on the screw but you can screw up your bass. Luckily I am quite handy and can install them myself.
20. It is also more expensive. The MB pedal is fine for what it is. The new version is a lot smaller than before too. I quite like it (although I will most likely buy the FI at some stage).
