1. I loved the tone of my Decade Skyline, this can only be even better... Lovely.
2. To me it is like Rolls Royce bringing out an MPV. $4000 for a P, not in a million years. But that is me, there will most certainly be a market for it.
3. Been doing 30-40 gigs per annum for many years now. Used to own lots of basses, now down to only 3. A 4 string PJ and 5 string JB which I will generally take to all the gigs, a Mono double keeps them safe. My 3rd is an acoustic that rarely gets used. I must say that I like having fewer basses, makes things much easier Basses wear, it's all mojo imo.
4. Yes, Dunlops, Schallers, Warwicks.... Personally I often use Dunlop flush mounts, least leverage on the screw but you can screw up your bass. Luckily I am quite handy and can install them myself.
5. It is also more expensive. The MB pedal is fine for what it is. The new version is a lot smaller than before too. I quite like it (although I will most likely buy the FI at some stage).
6. I tried, cannot order from Bassdirect........
7. Very nice! Did not expect to see one on BC any time soon.
8. How can this still be here? Stunning example made by one of UKs most respected luthiers for a fair price. Madness..
9. The US partner: http://www.austinbasstraders.com/about/4/glenn-talks Incl. link to buy direct from tecampusa.com http://www.austinbasstraders.com/newgear/281/tecamp-s-212-now-in-stock
10.
that and Markbass had made him a new amp...
Sure, but he did not have to go ballistic just because he switched brand, he didn't do that when he went to Tecamp either...
11.
I contributed to the TB thread as I'd just picked up a Bonafide amp, which is brill btw. I was talking to Thomas Eich just before Christmas, so this is very recent, but I can't believe the Bona situation killed the company? My guess is they are being bought out, based on this
Same here, I think they've been bought and he does not like the direction they are taking. The Bona thing may even be a result of a takeover too, Eich cannot honour prior arrangement due to new owner.... That could lead to a very upset Bona perhaps, his reaction was clearly very angry. Glenn Kawamoto owns Austin Bass Traders.
12.
He didn't disappoint, friendly, warm and very passionate. It's a huge buzz to know that the guy who built my fave bass is a top man.
Same with my de Gier, it is an extra bonus that he is a really nice guy who cares about his clients. I used to own 2 Lulls, still have very fond memories of them. Mike Lull helped me out with a bespoke passive wiring loom with seperate tone knobs for each volume knob on my MV5 pretty much at cost. I moved back to 34" due to a minor hand injury that makes playing 35" for long stints a challenge, would still have them otherwise.
13. Isn't it also about budget or how much you feel is a justifiable spend? Nobody needs a Merc or BM, yet many people drive one. The added "quality" over a good Skoda or Mazda is often elusive yet people still spend the extra cash. I have a custom JB5 (not much more expensive than a Fender Deluxe Jazz V by the way) that is exactly how I wanted it. Is it better? Probably only a little, would a Fender do the job? Yes, could I get the same level of bespokeness? Unlikely. I would never feel a Wal is justifiable, but if someone wants to have one who am I to judge. I also do not drive a Merc or BM whilst many of my colleagues do, it's their money.
14. I wish him the best, great look and it will undoubtedly sound very good for the money.
15. Must have been bought by Fender then...... We'll see, my L212s won't mind whatever happens.
16. Years ago Boss had the TU50 Pro (I hope I remember it correctly). Had one but sold it as it did not track a B string, wasn't great anyway. Why not buy a bigger one and transplant it into a half rack case?
17. Yum
18. I have bought quite a few times from Bax, they are trying to be the Dutch Thomann and do a decent job. A little hit and miss so I generally use Andertons or Thomann, will only use Bax if they have a much better deal.
19. My GAS is starting to get ugly.....
20. Cog T65 well worth checking, EHX POG, An envelope filter (mxr one is great) and a good overdrive. 3 of these 4 would sort you out.
21. So I got myself the larger PIKE. It is a little too big for my pedalboard though and I am not sure what hole to stick the jack in... 22. I like very early L42, I like the guy (he just seems a really nice bloke) and can appreciate the skill of his playing and singing (and the combination of the 2, I still struggle with combining the 2 sometimes). I do not love the music and wish he would slap a little less, just too much of it for my taste. Haters, start hating now
23. Aah, forgot one. I depped in a "girly/soul" band a few years back. "when you believe" from Mariah/Whitney royally spoiled my appetite.
24. I was never in cover bands until about 5 years ago, was quite the snob really. Now I am - and loving it - I do run into songs I do not like but don't mind, songs I would rather go without but can swallow and the odd no way Jose. I detest Wonderwall and Summer O' 69, but pay me enough and I will swallow my pride.
25. Same here, 3 bands (although some with the same people) never any issues. Why? Because we have a laugh and enjoy each others company outside and inside the music. For me, unless you are mates (or become mates in the 1st year) egos could get in the way. It is also about picking your fights, too many people nowadays want it MY way NOW, which is a very bad development within human society both in music and life.
