Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
HazBeen replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
Just ordered one.... hope it does what it says on the tin, but going by this thread I should be fine. -
My first bass! It was the only one in the shop I could afford, back in '89. I had the white version, probably even uglier than the black one. Actually wasn't that bad a bass, single P pickup and a decent neck. Awful body wood if memory serves me correct. Fun if you are in a glam band, or as a wall ornament, or chopping down trees.......

Pino's line on Don Henley's New York Minute

Lovely song -
Start singing and bass playing! Also doing some of the vocals has always helped me, although it is &)#%} ridiculous that it should matter. Drums and bass are the umbrella all others lean on.

Pre-drilled holes for neck in body are wonky!
HazBeen replied to cameltoe's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thin pins in neck, stick neck onto body, pins make dents in dowled body, small drill from inside cavity, then larger from outside body to cavity. Job done. -
Personally I would not want to be a bedroom player or a bassist in a band that never gigs. Why go through the effort, creative process and such and not share with others. But, horses for courses. Kate Bush is a great example of someone loving the studio and creative process but hating performing live. For me, be it with my orignals or cover projects, the 20 or so gigs in a "bad" year and 60 in a good year I have enjoyed over the last 25 years (41 now and still young in my eyes) have made my life so much richer. The people you meet, other band's music you hear, the fun and weird conversations you have, the friends I've made, venues played, the good and bad gigs, surprises etc etc have been a gift, never a chore. Very early on I realised that it would not be my fulltime profession due to - be it perceived or real - lack of stability, income and such. Heck maybe talent . But I love the fact that when my colleagues go home to watch Coronation Street I can look forward to being on stage, letting rip and getting rid of stress whilst knowing that the music pays for itself. Studio, instruments etc are all paid for by gigging. My kids come 1st, but I would not stop what I do for anyone else.

Our singer has back problems due to his large ego pressing down on his spine. I told him getting rid of his head would shave 20lbs of unused fat off. Now I am going back to sleep.

A 52" 1 string bass, now that would be cool... -
That is a cool tuning for drop C guitar mayhem!
I have my five string a bit different to the norm i guess, in my band we tune down to d standard and drop c, but i like having the open low note as a C sounds nicer to me than fretting..........IMO so i tune my bass CDGCF it also means i can hit some of my crazy octave sounds and play the line on my high C sounds really cool. andy
We have ourselves a Kilroy fan, clearly you cannot have an adequate discussion without juxtapositioning ad infinitum.
If you post that in every thread and you'll kill the site , back off
BBC show looking for 'best part time band'

Reality tv and the poo it generates..... -
Ooh, I see potential for some heated discussions here. For me 4 holds the essence of what a bass guitar should be, it sits and fits perfectly and is the bass I feel I have most freedom on. 5 or more gives you extra range and more girth to your tone but for me it does come at the expense of some freedom as technique needs to be a little cleaner on my 5. I could not do without either my 4 or my 5, both provide different things and require a different approach to bass playing. But none is better or worse, just different. I used to have a guitar player that felt 4 was too simple and had the warped opinion that proficiency had some correlation with the amount of strings on your bass......... Wooten, Pastorius, Jamerson, McCartney, Flea all feel 4 is enough. And I have seen more than my fair share of bass players show up with 5,6 or even 7 string basses who would struggle with a 4.

They are great aren't they! Just replaced my PT with a trio 21 and am very happy. A little more work than velcro, but on the whole a really good system, tidy and sturdy.

RB1001 and 700 user here. I also had an MB, whilst it is a perfectly fine amp, comparing the RB to the MB..... no contest at all. RB clear victor on all fronts.
